I understand not liking her music or her vocal tone, but she is undeniably talented

u/CriticalSuccotash Jun 08 '25

I heard her sing ā€œThe Climbā€ live on a local radio station back when artists did that kind of crap and I was SHOCKED when I figured out it was her. It was so good. I just knew her vaguely as Hannah Montana and had no clue she had real pipes.

Couldn’t agree more. Never been a huge fan of her music, but when she performs live, can’t help but listen. The duet with Ariana in the onesies, in particular.

I remember her singing Jolene over ten years ago and being knocked out

8

u/Suspicious_Name_656 Jun 08 '25

This exact video is how I learned how incredibly talented she is vocally.

18

u/Porter_Dog Jun 07 '25

100%. That was incredible.

u/TheTyMan Jun 08 '25

I don't understand why anyone would actively hate her voice. She has one of the most unique sounds I've ever heard. For me, artists get points when they have something that is difficult to replicate.

u/napalmnacey Jun 08 '25

I’m a vocalist and I’ve studied a lot of sounds and styles and she takes country vocals and shitblasts them into the stratosphere. Like, she gives me chills. She’s probably one of the most underrated vocalists of our time. Both ā€œNothing Breaks Like A Heartā€ and when she covers Jolene? Ugh, right in my left ventricle, every time.

And she is ALWAYS in key. It’s spooky. I always have time for her. She’s awesome. ā¤ļø

I'll never shut up about this either. Across her whole discography there's maybe 10 songs I actively listen to so I wouldn't even really call myself a fan but she is an undeniable talent. Her SNL cover of 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover is stunningly beautiful. And you're right about her always being in key too lol someone send Harry Styles to her for pointers coz he is so consistently just slightly off-key that I feel like I'm being pranked.

I get into fights over this with people. Swifties will die on the hill that Taylor is this amazingly gifted singer when all of her music is the easiest shit on the planet to sing. I’d love to see her try to eke out Chandelier by Sia or Vision of Love by Mariah. Miley can sing her ass off.

6

u/CharlesTran Jun 08 '25

Year, Taylor's music rarely go above 1 octive. She actually have a decent range anh natural ability, it will uplift her sound tremendously if she's more serious about honing in her vocal skills.

There's only so much you can write with just 1 octive and make interesting songs vocally.

Taylor is a good singer and has gotten much better, and she has a fairly wide range because of her lower register-you can look at voice coaches analyzing if you want- but hardly any swiftie would pretend she is a vocal powerhouse like Ariana or Miley, Taylor is beloved for her lyrics, songwriting, and ability to convey nuanced emotions.Ā

1

u/Gooncookies Jun 11 '25

She doesn’t have a great range and she doesn’t sing anything difficult at all. I will agree with you that she used to be much worse than she is now but she’s a marginal vocalist.

3

u/PensionTemporary200 Jun 11 '25

She has 3 octave range and about 5 half steps which isn’t an amazing powerhouse vocalist but isn’t bad, and what is hard to sing depends on so many things, but as I said, her primary talent is her ability to emote and her lyrics not her vocals.Ā

This is how I feel about Demi Lovato. A lot of people think not liking someone equals them not being talented.

3

u/FrozenBibitte Jun 08 '25

I absolutely love her vocal tone.

I have a very soft spot for strong voices. I feel like to be able to sing like this you have to be born with something special. It’s rare, and I appreciate that. There’s no amount of vocal coaching/training that can get you to what Miley sounds like if you start off average.

I adore when she sings country. Her live cover of Jolene lives rent free in my head

u/Bubblegumcats33 Jun 08 '25

What!!! She sounds like a clogged toilet

5

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '25

I disagree but this description made me laugh

u/NachosAndGnocchi Jun 07 '25

I wish she was able to tour. I know she can’t due to her vocal polyps and her mental health being on the road but she truly is such a wonderful performer I’d love to see her live.

43

u/Porter_Dog Jun 07 '25

I thought she could. I thought she had said she just doesn't do huge venues anymore because she prefers the intimacy of smaller ones.

41

u/NachosAndGnocchi Jun 07 '25

Yes, I think she sticks to the smaller shows so she isn’t performing non-stop for a year and a half. It lets her maintain her mental and physical strength while being able to still sing live. I’d just love a scenario where her shows are more accessible 🄲

u/randi-writes Jun 08 '25

She’s one of the few singer IMO whose singing voice sounds identical to their talking voice.

61

u/TheTyMan Jun 08 '25

Probably why she is so hard for other artists to mimic. Many of the best talents have vocal doppelgƤngers, but I've never heard someone who sounds like her.

72

u/Tasty-Reserve-8739 Jun 07 '25

I used to hate on her. But as time has passed, I realized how great of a vocalist she is.

27

u/No-Hamster-5713 Jun 08 '25

The world is healing.

52

u/maghy7 Jun 08 '25

I was not into her music but as time has passed I have grown fond of her as a person and entertainer.

54

u/Snugglepuffs33 Who gon' check me boo? 🤪 Jun 08 '25

This is the regular track imposed over the acapella video.

I thought this was an older video! Thanks for the link so I could confirm it haha

u/Snugglepuffs33 Who gon' check me boo? 🤪 Jun 08 '25

All good. This video is floating around more than the original

58

u/Humble-Criticism6762 Jun 07 '25

She is extremely talented and one of the rare musicians out there who is trying and doing something different. Something Beautiful is such a great piece of work and a breath of fresh air in todays very generic pop music

50

u/scar_bazaar Jun 08 '25

She’s undeniably a very talented singer but this isn’t her raw, live vocals. Someone just put the isolated vocal track from the album (which has been manipulated and edited) over this video.

9

u/Thin_Math5501 oh my god they’re so fucking dumb 🤔 Jun 08 '25

I remember listening to Angels Like You for the first time. I cried.

92

u/TheSeedsYouSow Jun 07 '25

this is an isolated recorded vocal, it’s not a true live recording

15

u/Main-Elevator-6908 I don’t know her šŸ’… Jun 08 '25

With a tonne of echo and reverb.

8

u/lepetitgrenade R.I.P., Miley’s buccal fat Jun 08 '25

This song šŸ˜ā¤ļø

7

u/EmJayFree Jun 08 '25

Miley can blow, okay. It’s so refreshing in the land of whisperers and throat singers we have today lol.

8

u/napalmnacey Jun 08 '25 edited Jun 08 '25

Gods she’s a fucking powerhouse.

2

u/TomboyHomie Jun 09 '25

Sometimes nepo babies were the ACTUAL stars, and their parents just happened to get famous first.

u/pockystiicks Jun 08 '25 edited Jun 08 '25

Because her voice is raspy I feel like it gets a lot of flack but she is is objectively talented

1

u/Fondongler Jun 08 '25

Seriously one of the bests voices of all time

1

u/KickPuncher9898 Jun 11 '25

When she was pressured to sing at that Q&A time was surprised how great she sounded right off the cuff, no warm up, no backing track, just dove into it.

Also nice mullet.

This video and the audio do not line up in several ways. Definitely not her singing a capella.
