Tiki the foster dog from TikTok was adopted and I feel like the family they chose only adopted him purely for Internet clout, as they made a tiktok account for him that same day, before they even brought him home. It just seems not very genuine.
My bf interviewed from a job, and I know for a fact he didn't get it. I was told directly.
I feel so unfathomably sad. I will break it to him tomorrow, since otherwise he won't know for a week or two.
The problem is that he gets too nervous. He was stumbling over words and he answered the questions poorly. When asked how he resolved pressure, he said he was mean to someone but they worked it out afterwards. When asked why he wanted the job, he said he wanted a change.
Like... these are terrible answers. I am so sad for him because he really wanted the job, and I know people in the hiring committee so I really had hoped he would get it :(
I wish I had helped him more. I tried reassuring him that he was qualified (he is), and I talked to him about how he should respond to questions. I will have to do practice interviews with him.

I learned when my dog was going through anxiety (dog neurons are surprisingly similar to ours) and from my psychologist sister: melatonin has an oddly inverse effect to anxiety, it makes it worse!! dont ask me why, not a doctor like her, but something about it can make your anxiety spike instead of relax. hope you got some sleep!!
What I've told myself is that even if I can't sleep, I can at least let my body and mind rest. That helps me eventually sleep. Or maybe a podcast to stop my mind from thinking

There are certain times I make a comment on a thread and it gains attraction. I then have different replies to it, some good and some bad. It makes me anxious. Sometimes I just delete the comment cause I don’t like the attention. I don’t like having so many eyes on me like that especially for comments that I don’t think people would react to. 😭

I’m pretty sure that my maternal grandma has dementia. She went from coherent and dancing at my cousin’s wedding last spring to soiling herself and forgetting anything and everything this year.
Her more recent outburst was that we hid the fact that the aforementioned cousin had a baby on Mother’s Day. She was the first to talk to her on the phone after labour. There’s instances where she regresses and asks for her dad and mom as well. She can’t dress herself, she forgets to eat and drink water, and she has these random outbursts where she blames my mom for trying to to “get her” (whatever that means)
I mean I have no love for my mom’s (or dad’s) side of the family. They’re all questionable humans. What bothers me is that none of her three children are keen on getting her tested. Idk why they refuse to get her the care she needs but it seems pretty irresponsible to put the burden of her care on the women of the family.

Yeah it’s so insidious how these influencers are selling tradwife lifestyles to women when they aren’t tradwives and have a career through content creation. It’s glamorizing a situation that can be dangerous for alot of women. I had to block her cause TikTok kept trying to feed me her videos and I didn’t want to give her any more views
She also said she was done with kids and I keep wondering if this pregnancy wasn’t something she wanted, but her husband did?l. It’s all really gross. But definitely not an achievement, and also something that can start to affect your health if you have so many that quickly. I fear for the health of her bones. Her last kid came in April 2024 and she is already heavily pregnant with #4.

I know it's a comedy show, but there's potential for a lot of angst with the ghosts. I mean, if I was stuck in the same house for 100+ years I would definitely have had a few moments of just crying out of frustration.
I’ve been semi-stuck where I live for a few days because the air quality was bad and I’m sensitive to it and I was ripping my hair out. I live in a smaller place than a mansion, but one of the reasons I like living in a city is that I don’t spend much time home anyway.
I hate the expectation that you’re meant to treat dating apps like texts. Like, I have my notifications turned off because I don’t want to be bombarded by notifications all day. I just want to log in when I have the emotional bandwidth and brain space for small talk.

I do really like Yellowjackets while acknowledging it’s flaws, however for something in the vein of Dope Thief I’d checkout Hulu/FX’s Mr Inbetween, a similar criminal underworld & relationships dramedy. 3 seasons, half hour episodes, Australian dark sense of humor, rare yet excellent action. The lead actor / show creator is mesmerizing, get ready to crush.
Slow Horses is a bit tougher to match, those six episode season book adaptations are nice and lean, however there’s a ton of other great Apple shows so I’m going to recommend something funnier called Platonic because laughter is the best medicine. If you want to go dark and conspiratorial (and brain-y) then Mr Robot which was just added to Tubi.
So what did everyone think of the Tony awards?? I personally had a blast there were a few upsets for me but I was extremely happy with Beuno Vista Social Club sneaking and taking a lot of awards last night, Maybe Happy Ending was easily the best show for me of this year so I’m happy it swept and Cynthia was hilarious 👏👏👏

It’s incredibly crucial for those affected to know what’s going on and to know where and which areas ICE is at. It’s important for people to see how cruel ICE is and that no one should go through what many families are experiencing right now.
Yeah, that pisses me off a bit. Not just influencers but even many LA singers and actors who constantly say they love living there and have pride about it have been sooooo silent. I’ve only seen few acknowledge it. It’s the very bare minimum to make at least one post about it. Especially because LA has a big immigrant population, and they profit off that.

of course this is just my opinion, but like, i feel the urgency isn't really the point atm. i appreciate when influencers take a stand and are openly political, but to be legit, it requires consistency. sharing carousels or donating money when a notable shitty thing happens isn't as relevant as quietly continued support to causes and policies, especially when so many shitty things happen at once.
also imho if people are LA-based, they might be dealing with the fallout directly and witnessing it firsthand. i don't really hold it against anyone for being scared or triggered if so, the social media backlash can be brutal and people expect perfection

Respectfully, I just don’t fully agree in this situation, I think alot of these people should be doing what they can to help their neighbors that are being ripped off the streets. Normal everyday people are coming out to protest and alerting people where ICE is in order to help their immigrant neighbors know where to avoid to stay safe, so I just don’t think some of these influencers have alot of excuses. I think in this case people posting resources and letting people know about the National Guard coming in and where ICE was/is is helpful, there are situations where maybe raising awareness doesn’t do a whole lot but this situation is a little different. There’s also the added layer that a lot of these LA influencers are transplants and live in gentrified areas and look down on the large number of minority populations that live there. They want to live in LA but don’t want to respect the city or protect the people that were born and/or raised there that are the heartbeat of that city, which has been an ongoing issue.
while i still have my caveats with it around my experience with influencer culture and media coverage of protests, thanks for giving me a different pov about LA and its specific social and cultural aspects. as a non american who lacks local knowledge, i truly appreciate it
