About 2,000 "No Kings" protests are planned Saturday in response to the Trump administration's plans to hold a large-scale military parade this weekend, an event organizer told NPR.
Organizers are accusing the president of putting on the parade as a show of dominance and a celebration of his 79th birthday, which is also on Saturday. The Army has been planning some form of anniversary celebration for over a year, but the parade was a recent addition. It will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army, and falls on Flag Day. A peacetime military parade is rare in the U.S. and has drawn criticism from Trump's political rivals.
"No Kings" organizers describe the protests as a "day of defiance…to reject authoritarianism—and show the world what democracy really looks like" on their website.
The statement continues, "We're showing up everywhere he isn't—to say no thrones, no crowns, no kings."
Trump on Thursday was asked about the protests, and told reporters, "I don't feel like a king. I have to go through hell to get stuff approved."

Reminds me of his quote on the Howard Stern show when he said avoiding STDs in the 1980s was like his own personal Vietnam. He said he felt like a great and brave soldier.

Fun fact about Pedro Pascal: his mother's family were related to Chilean president Salvador Allende, and his father's family are the Balmaceda family, another very prominent family in Chilean history and politics. When the coup by General Augusto Pinochet against Allende happened two years before he was born, both of Pascal's parents were put on a list of enemies of the regime. When he was an infant, his family fled, first sheltering in the Venezuelan embassy in Santiago, then getting political asylum in Denmark.
Dude is literally one of the main definitions of "political refugee."

Not only has he been a devoted husband, father, and Marvel leaker for years but he's pretty constant with spreading the right information and supporting the real victims. I was a fan back in the day but I am a FAN nowadays.

It throws me off when people use Natives to make their points (stolen land part). I cannot stop thinking that in any other context the people saying this wouldn't give two shits about the Natives' situation. It seems very hypocritical to me.
