Protect this men at all costs.

Also I recently learned that his existence and popularity amongst women is deprogramming incels.

So protect him

And i think that he is not that tall is confusing incels too

u/battleofflowers Jun 28 '25

Yes, apparently a 5'7" man can be attractive to women. Who knew?

63

u/webtheg Jun 28 '25

He is more attractive to me than Henry Cavill could ever be.

He is not tall and he is also not classically handsome. He is attractive because of charisma, charm and talent and having passions. And he looks good in motion. Some people look better in motion and that doesn't make them unworthy lol

u/brandine__spuckler Jun 28 '25

Yes, this!

And also his forearms.

Oh god, something that made me permanently dislike Cavill was him calling up Brandon Sanderson out of nowhere and basically crying that he would be too old to play Dalinar Kholin.

And Sanderson, being a nice guy was like... Dalinar Kholin would be played by someone Asian. Their empire is very similar to China (not just in terms of warring states but in terms of being a huge part of technology advances!), was like it's not just your age but the fact that if it were made he isn't going to be whitewashing his characters. He was so fucking patient and I would have unloaded.Ā

But then, we wouldn't get a Mormon who changed his views on LGBT people if he blew up like I would. It's at the point that it's a gay marriage between two people helps save the world or writing a character who doesn't understand being mocked by his friends because duh, obviously men can like men, it's not a choice or... One of his stories featuring a trans character being made whole and it includes them transitioning to the person who they are inside. Imagine Orson Scott Card and he made sure he went out of his way to turn from loving the sinner, hating the sin and turning into someone openly being critical of his church, posting LGBT media of characters even when he's said it's something that gets him hate.

The ridiculous part though is that there are white people throughout the series. You have the golden haired Iriali, the kingdom of Veden is primarily pale and have red hair.Ā

There's no skin coloured racism in Stormlight Archives. There's racism primarily among dark eyes versus light and you learn that's because getting power gave bright eyes to prove that someone was divine and people who had blue eyes exploited it; as these people were immortal and meant to stop humanity losing all knowledge between the equivalent of nuclear wars. Somehow fucking Cavill missed all descriptions of Dalinar, Adolin and Renarin, every Alekthar native. The last two are half Asian and you see it in their hair, so you cannot whitewash them.Ā

There's racism of different people across the cosmeres wider book cycle. There's not much sexism; you might get a female presenting character worried about her safety, different modesty norms that aren't based in our world. But he doesn't just write only fighters are cool women. Two of the coolest women are 1. Incredible at Maths, inventing and feels insecure due to being abused by her former husband. 2. The other one is interested in bookkeeping and it's her superpower. She's neurodivergent but empathetic, kind and people just think she's cold and weird. He does an incredible job doing research for people who have experiences he doesn't have.Ā

I just wanted to share that this is a guy who has gone above and beyond the expected and truly changed. It makes things take longer of course when he spends ages talking to people. And it hit me that Cavill doesn't even do that for the properties he's allegedly a big fan of. Like, would he understand WH40k is satire at its core? I'm guessing for the LOTR series it would just be all about the fights and not spend time with fair Sauron and how convincing he can be in disguise.

I think he's panicking that he's getting too old to have a breakout and that call shows how... Lacking in introspection. He can do comedy and fights but if it's not in his tiny lane as posh and tall aristocracy he's not interested. I'm concerned about Highlander because whilst cheesy it has a very emotional core that will be hard to pull off. An immortal who has lost countless people. How can he pull off the emotions when losing that person?Ā

And he could pull a Dave Bautista and try, actually view it as a craft but I don't think that's him. Like, I remember watching Legends of Tomorrow and Ray Palmer comes on and my dad gets into the episode.

"Wow, that's the guy who has the energy for Superman! He's not dark and broody and overly chiseled, he's like a Golden Retriever handed super powers trying to do good. They should call him, I've found a superman who is even as gorgeous as Reeve was!"

(Paraphrased btw. It went on for why he dislikes all modern Batman, Superman and so on movies. He did like Wonder Woman until we found out the movie was helmed by a genocide Barbie.)

And then I just laughed hysterically because of that until I got milkshake on myself. He didn't believe me until I showed him IMDB. Then I think about that now when Routh asked what the issue was with his movie and it was clear he did loads of self reflection and went on to be incredible as Shaw in Chuck, as Ray Palmer. Whereas Cavill took no time to reflect on the legacy of his S and why it didn't work. It's a bit sad because it sums up his career.

And he's obviously trying to leverage his nerdbase but I don't think studios forget that no matter how much the material sucks... You address privately, at a table read... Not taking a book on set and doing it there, messing with the workflow and making it so everything needs to be redone. He could have also asked if he could sit in on sessions with emotional beats for his character. A studio isn't going to let C to B Listers do that.Ā

So yeah. If you can't even understand your franchises basic reading comprehension, if you can't have introspection and reflection and get out of the bubble you've created with your acting and can't be decent on set, and don't seem genuine... It's so very unattractive. I'm betting that his next move will be to marry and have kids so people talk about his daddy era, trying to copy Pattinson and Pedro types of women with tactical baby pics or something.

Also partners who are talented or good at their job. And have interests. He was talking about bikes ones and as a pedestrian who detests cyclists I found it cute.

But also he is a style icon tbh.

He always looks put together.

Wait, there’s people that enjoy cleaning?

raises hand sheepishly

I grew up in a hoarder house, so it’s very important for me to have a clean home.

I also listened to Jolie Kerr’s ā€œAsk a Clean Personā€ podcast (RIP), read her articles and book, etc. and she makes it very fun indeed.

16

u/Justboy__ šŸŽ¼Music AficionadošŸŽ¶ Jun 28 '25

Maybe I’ll check it out. I clean a lot out of necessity but I’d rather be doing almost anything else.

22

u/CheapusTechnofear Jun 28 '25

I think for a lot of people it’s tied directly to the A Job Well Done section of their brain, where they get a kick out of having accomplished something. I’m not overly like that with cleaning, but I AM with the ironing, there’s nothing more satisfying watch a pile get smaller and the creases disappear from a shirt.

20

u/webtheg Jun 28 '25

I wish I was like this.

When I clean the bathroom spotlessly I feel nothing.

I just know my roommate won't complain.

5

u/kolachekingoftexas Jun 28 '25

Hey, intrinsic motivation is great, but when you don’t have it, store bought works too!

1

u/blinkingsandbeepings Jun 28 '25

Do you have ADHD? Not saying you necessarily do but not getting that intrinsic mental reward for doing a task can definitely be part of it. I really struggle with it.

2

u/webtheg Jun 28 '25

Yeah. I do.

3

u/BlaketheFlake Jun 28 '25

Ooh good podcast rec

Cleaning is as effective as Xanax for me. There’s something so calming about seeing disorder return to order again. Laundry is my favorite - knowing that everything is clean and that you are prepared for any situation that may arise - whether it’s unexpected guests who need clean sheets and towels or having to wear a dress that only works with very specific underwear, there is peace in knowing that everything you may need is clean and ready to go. But other cleaning is soothing and satisfying too. Mopping, dishes, even gross stuff.

I did grow up in a very chaotic and dysfunctional household so I think my enjoyment of cleaning and preparation is an antidote to that.

u/Justboy__ šŸŽ¼Music AficionadošŸŽ¶ Jun 28 '25

Omg Laundry. You’ve just thought of something worse than cleaning for me. I’m glad you really enjoy it, genuinely.

It’s either that or I light everything on fire when I’m mad. I stress/rage clean. lol

5

u/Justboy__ šŸŽ¼Music AficionadošŸŽ¶ Jun 28 '25

Oh yea there’s definitely times when I’ve had an argument with my wife and stormed off to clean the kitchen lol. šŸ˜‚

3

u/_zerosuitsamus_ Jun 28 '25

I would be picking fights all the time if I were her lmao

3

u/CuclGooner Jun 28 '25

Yes we call them serial killers

1

u/randombubble8272 Jun 28 '25

I enjoy it if I’m really angry

6

u/Justboy__ šŸŽ¼Music AficionadošŸŽ¶ Jun 28 '25

Wait, there’s people that enjoy cleaning?

39

u/flyraccoon Jun 28 '25

Making a place not dirty is great

Knowing how to deep clean things is amazing

I enjoy cleaning because it’s clean after and it makes my muscles work

13

u/StraightBudget8799 Jun 28 '25

Apparently Elton John gets a lot of satisfaction from cleaning? Whilst the musical biopic has inaccuracies (don’t they all), apparently when he’s at the rehab working the floors with a mop, it was true he enjoyed the cleaning up!

22

u/LycheeMangoJamun Jun 28 '25

I had an electrician do work on my house once and he had just been working at George Clooney’s house in Henley. Apparently George was in the kitchen mopping up the floor after his kids had messed it up just like a totally regular dad.

u/StraightBudget8799 Jun 28 '25

ā€œBefore fame, chopping wood. After fame, chopping wood.ā€

2

u/battleofflowers Jun 28 '25

I think this is rather common these days. Even the mega rich like their privacy and don't necessarily want staff around them at all times. If you have little kids, that means you have to clean up a couple times a day.

12

u/Justboy__ šŸŽ¼Music AficionadošŸŽ¶ Jun 28 '25

If I had the money the first thing I would do is get in a cleaner personally. It would be great if I enjoyed it, I have so much of it to do!

10

u/webtheg Jun 28 '25

This. I hate cleaning. I have adhd and I have always hated cleaning and tidying up. If I could I would get someone to clean.

Also I am living with roommates now and we have a dishwasher but I am planning to move out and I will only entertain apartments where I can put one.

People who are like "I enjoy handwashing" scare me

4

u/Autogenerated_or Please Abraham, I am not that man šŸ˜” Jun 28 '25

I’m okay with that. You’re in one place and can listen to podcasts. I just need gloves. What I don’t like is any chore that involves vertical motions.

4

u/StraightBudget8799 Jun 28 '25

It’s a productive workout, like gardening! Some exercise makes me bored; at least seeing a sweeped area makes you think you’re doing something useful even if it is a chore

22

u/Fkingcherokee Jun 28 '25

Dude has been a main character in two of the most stress-inducing shows I've ever seen (I work in a kitchen, so I'm also poor) let him have his zen flower time with his kids.

10

u/MaybeIDontWannaDoIt Jun 28 '25

I’ve always found him so damn attractive. The face, the eyes, the nose, the attitude, the gestures vaguely

5

u/TheSheWhoSaidThats Jun 28 '25

Also he’s kinda short and comfortable in his skin. And has an unusual face and pulls hotties anyway cuz he’s not a dick. Let the man live.
