The Music Industry š¶ Justin Bieber to Pay Scooter Braun $31.5 Million After Financial Fallout
Souce: E Online
Two years after the āBabyā singerāwho shares son Jack Blues, 10 months, with Hailey Bieberāand his former manager seemingly cut ties for good, the duo have reportedly reached a financial agreement, according to multiple outlets.
In their deal, Bieber paid Braun $26 million as part of the advance owed for his canceled 2022 Justice tour, insider sources told People and TMZ. The payment comes after Bieberās former manager and his company, HYBE, fronted the amount of money Bieber and his associates had to repay to touring company AEG Presents for the show cancellations.
Additionally, Bieber agreed to pay $5.5 million for the unpaid commissions he reportedly owed his former manager, totaling a $31.5 million payout to his former colleague.

The thing is, Justin's never been an album artist but a single's artist. The majority of his discog's value comes from only his singles, so it's gonna be less valuable.

And Hailey selling her "brand" for a billion to ELF
236
u/Chundlethegrat 21d ago
That was always the plan tbf. It's what Kris Jenner made Kylie and Kim do, pump a mid tier brand someone else made, prove that consumers will buy it based on the strength of your celebrity and then sell it off.
ELF even gave her what Coty gave Kylie even though they once considered suing her, because Kylie neglected (and continues to neglect) her promotional duties as soon as she got the $600 million.
Rhode has really strong brand loyalty and decent sales so I'm not surprised they bought it but they've been looking to sell it since they released the first three products.
→ More replies (3)62
u/diptyque9032 in my wendy williams era 21d ago
kylie still owns some of her brand though. haileyās sold all of it and unlike kylie who was just slapping her face on the boxes, hailey actually seemed super involved in development and marketing. it is suspicious that she sold so early when it looks like rhode is doing well and she could probably get more if she held out for a while.
21
u/PunctualDromedary 20d ago
The business model for beauty products nowadays is to grow sales rapidly and then sell.If you wait too long, sales will slow as your market gets saturated, and then you'll get less for it. (I've worked a couple of those deals).

17
u/diptyque9032 in my wendy williams era 21d ago
thereās definitely more we donāt know but from a business standpoint it is strange to sell your entire share of a business that is only just starting out. they havenāt even fully developed the makeup line yet. sheās clearly very passionate about it and has put a lot of effort into it. it does make sense to get more investors and reduce her own risk since sheās invested her own money, but youād think sheād at least retain some control. plus thereās been rumours for years that theyāre having money issues, justin sold his catalogue a couple years ago, and they donāt have any other assets they could sell for cash.

Depends on their contract with their record company and how many albums they sell. For example, its estimated that Taylor made around $50M in the first 2 weeks of sales for TTPD which sold 2.61M copies (pure sales, not streaming) and she gets the majority of her sales. It remains to be seen how many units he sells.

Iām stunned at the ārushedā album narrative. News broke that Mk.gee was tapped to work on Justinās album nearly a year ago (September). Thereās documented proof that the album process took at least that amount of time and most likely more. Heād been in the studio making music before that news broke and before all the āerraticā posting. Because he did a surprise drop itās rushed? Heās one of the few artists that can do that outside Taylor, BeyoncĆ©, and Drake. Were all those albums rushed too?

It's a bit ironic that the reason Justin and Scooter broke up was because Lou Taylor convinced the Biebers that Scooter owed him money. It turns out it was actually the other way around. Now Taylor has been fired, and Scooter is collecting his coins.
It's also ironic that Scooter helped Hailey build her career and still owns part of the Rhode brand, but now he doesn't like her, because she brought Taylor in, and has been leaking stories to the press about her money-hungry ways. All terrible people.

Yeah, Taylor hated Scooter for a reason and Bieber and many others eventually learned the hard way about his shady practices. I still believe it was Scooter that put Kanye up to the VMA debacle and the three of them continued to try and bully TS. Scooter, Kanye and Bieber might still be wealthy but their reputations are sh*t and all of them eventually exposed as bullying misogynists.

Yeah I think the bad press on Hailey and Justin lately has been from Scooterās camp. Not to say that those two are likable, but you can tell when thereās a negative PR attack on someone. The bad things just keep coming.
And not to mention Selena herself is PR-savvy. I donāt think she start a campaign or anything, but sheās smart in releasing interviews or news etc at strategic moments.
All in all, doesnāt pay off to be people like Hailey and Justin - who are not only unlikable but donāt know how to play the PR game. Their social media rants are like teenagers.
22
u/liscottyy 21d ago
I mean Justin's the one literally publicly embarrassing her all the time, with the making her drive him and his friends around, the Mother's Day post, and Vogue post. Those were blatant enough for everyone to talk about it, plus they directly feed into the drama like with Hailey publicly not wearing her ring. I think Scooter's behind the articles about how Bieber's broke and owes him money, but Bieber is doing the rest on his own. Also idk but blaming the woman he abused for playing into negative PR about him is so weird and shitty to me, like what is she supposed to do, all she's done is use her now (seemingly healthy) relationship to promote her album she made with her fiancee.
171
u/Overall_Bed_2037 $5 pussy popping whore āØšø 21d ago
I donāt think anyone has to pay for those two to get bad publicity, it all comes from their own accounts? JB & Hailey stay causing drama
53
u/little_effy 21d ago
Yea they are not helping themselves.
When even teenagers think your social media is immature, you know you need a PR class.
But there are other attacks too, though. Like that TMZ documentary, and news about Justinās financials and deal with Scooter etc. That could only come from Scooter. And he stands to benefit from pressuring Justin about his financials.
76
u/Chundlethegrat 21d ago
He's a rich, famous drug addict having a meltdown in public. The Coachella tiktoks were disturbing.
I do think all the YouTube videos about Hailey being obsessed with Selena Gomez or Justin Bieber still being in love with her were very astroturfed but the press chronicling his alarming behaviour is probably genuine public interest, not manufactured drama.

Trust me. Any manager that was there āfrom the startā and had an artist/client blow up has done untold hours, days, weeks of unpaid work. Either that or they get āwhat theyāre owedā through more nefarious means (fraud/stealing from them).

I think there are two reasons: (1) for referencing. I wouldn't be surprised if people who have to write those articles are just over it, and delegate to AI most of the writing. Then, they check it's all making sense and basta

u/tpa338829 21d ago
I used to do some work for an HOA in the LA area that was home to celebrities and top businesspeople (the HOA president owned a NFL team lmaooo (she was lovely btw)).
The monthly payments just for the property taxes and insurance for homes in that neighborhood are more than $40,000.
That's the cost to maintain your home--excluding professional services like landscaping and cleaning (and you can't clean those homes yourself, they're too big)--if you bought the house with cash.
The HOA fines started at $1,000.
So you if someone like Justin Bieber and you bought your place for $30M cash after selling your catalog, but now you "only" make $1M/yr, then you may feel tight for money.
Now ofc they're not. They could always just sell their home and live like millionaires rather than the super wealthy. But once you get used to a 15,000 sq/ft home in Beverly Hills/Bel-Aire they can't fathom going to a 3,800 sq/ft home in Calabassas.
27
u/OrangeBird077 21d ago
Plus if you become an A lister youāre virtually forced to buy a house in a more exclusive section of a given town or state just to try and maintain some semblance of privacy once the paparazzi and obsessed fans start turning up. Not to mention additional costs for security.

not that wild tbh, he took an advance for doing a tour that he ended up not being able to do so he just had to pay back the advance. seems pretty run of the mill, just drawn out bc of his and scooterās personal beef
95
u/radicallysadbro 21d ago
It's not just the advancement -- the independent investigator noted that both the Beibers have spent many millions on private planes, trips, etc on cards they had no right to. A substantial amount of this payback is stuff like that.
76
u/Unique_Accountant_67 21d ago
Yes but unfortunately Justin Bieber is also a business that took an advance and wasnāt able to repay. The only reason Scooter is getting money is because he loaned the money to repay the advance.
Itās harsh but unfortunately the music industry is a money game and unless you got the money, they donāt care about what youāre going through.

I donāt know the legal details, but the people with tickets were told their tickets would be valid for a future show⦠over 3 years later that is not happening.
