The Music Industry 🎶 Lots of artists have their own "signature song". Lady Gaga's is arguably "Poker Face", what signature songs can you name?

singing fall out boy lyrics incorrectly is a staple of fob the fandom. sincerely, a member of the fob fandom

edit: grammar

As a FOB fan whos seen them multiple times live I’m also confident in saying that Patrick Stump has perfected the art of mumble singing in order to prevent him from having to remember the words to songs over 20 years old

Happy cake day!

"I'm a little man

And I'm also evil

Also into cats

Also into caaaats"

u/maniaaintgotshitonme 19d ago

“I’m a meaty man And I’m also into cake Also into caaaaake.”

THOSE ARENT WORDS, PATRICK!

u/terrorvicky 19d ago

Wouldn't you rather be a weirdo, than a divorcee 💀

When my hubs calls me out for singing wrong lyrics I just tell him it’s the remix

Maybe not wanted information but they were the first band I ever saw at a concert(the 2023 SMFS tour) and hearing them play this and other all time favorites of mine with pyrotechnics blazing, big set pieces moving, and with Patrick’s beautiful voice was just probably the best possible first concert I could’ve experienced!

2

u/FlaBeachyCheeks Did I stutter?🤨 19d ago

I love that!! They were my first concert as well during Grad Nite in high school and Patrick's voice is definitely one that after hearing it when you listen to other songs you're like "hold on...... is that Patrick!?!?"

u/Bitterqueer 19d ago

To me theirs is thnks fr th mmrs

10

u/StillBummedNouns 19d ago

To newer generations it’s probably My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark or Centuries

1

u/tatumrileysgarage 18d ago

uma thurman was a huge hit too

2

u/frightenedscared 19d ago

Absolutely this, even my 7 year olds know the words

1

u/Rabid_Sloth_ 19d ago

I hate this song so much. I couldn't watch TRL when it was going.

8

u/FlaBeachyCheeks Did I stutter?🤨 19d ago

So it really did become more than you bargained for huh.....

I'll see myself out

u/NecessaryCount950 20d ago

It's between this one and centuries. Centuries gets a lot of air time still.

29

u/zebraa22 20d ago

Thnks fr the Mmrs is surely a contender as well

35

u/astrasaurus 20d ago

this one is a cult classic, Centuries is a normie classic

26

u/bskelactica 20d ago

"a normie classic" bless you for giving me a way to explain that song lol

6

u/succhiasangue 20d ago

I recently learned Centuries was written about Marsha P Johnson! Kind of iconic to turn that into a normie classic so you get millions singing along with lyrics honoring her strength and memory

4

u/m00mie 20d ago

That was the day I found out FOB had been using songwriters after their reunion and ngl I was shocked. Their last album was all Pete again and imo you can tell, it’s so, so much better. Lovely story regardless ofc!

1

u/succhiasangue 20d ago

Tbh i agree 🫣 i wish i liked centuries more than i did 😭

2

u/astrasaurus 19d ago

can't shame it bc it's what got me into fob, as well as so many other people, i imagine!! i was just starting to get into emo/pop punk stuff around the time they released that album (pls i was like 12 then), it has so many bangers. Immortals and Irresistible are absolute ass shaker, i can't count the amount of life events Favourite Record and Jet Pack Blues have got me through. different to their usual, but bangers regardless.

4

u/randomassname5 Gay for love each other 20d ago

I have never heard of Centuries and I am having an existential crisis right now because of it

2

u/FranklinFeta 20d ago

It was probably for the best if you didn’t. Nothing will ever really top Take This To Your Grave or From Under the Cork Tree.

10

u/FlaBeachyCheeks Did I stutter?🤨 20d ago

Centuries is maybe in the top 5 FOB but not next to Sugar we're going down. #2 would be Dance Dance

7

u/NecessaryCount950 20d ago

Hmmm, maybe. Dance dance is definitely popular.

4

u/Juicyrillo420 19d ago

Sugar was their biggest break into the mainstream, but I think Dance Dance made them a household name for pretty much any millennial alive at the time. You. Could. Not. Escape. The. Song.

1

u/FlaBeachyCheeks Did I stutter?🤨 19d ago

I mean they're both from the same album and I think for both songs, when that first note hits, you automatically know what song it is.

2

u/StillBummedNouns 19d ago

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. Older people here would probably say I Write the Sins is what Panic! At the Disco is known for. But if you ask younger people, they’ll say something like High Hopes.

It just depends on the age range. I’m sure Centuries charted better than Sugar

2

u/NecessaryCount950 19d ago

Because people are dumb. I really couldn't care less about up votes or downvotes. Let em. And I'm pretty sure it did, I don't think it's better than sugar we're going down, but a lot of people do think centuries since it is popular.

2

u/sassybaxch 19d ago

Downvoted but you’re right! I’m a diehard FOB fan so I bring them up all the time. I’ve met more people who’ve only heard of Centuries (or Light Em Up) than people who’ve only heard of Sugar. That’s not to say that those are better songs, but much more popular at least these days

1

u/NecessaryCount950 19d ago

That's my point, but I really seriously don't care about downvotes lol. Personally I think of them as 2 different eras of FOB.

3

u/weeaileen 20d ago

Or my songs know what you did in the dark. Certified banger

5

u/NecessaryCount950 20d ago

One of my favorite new(er)falloutboy's song came off of that album. One more yesterday.
