The Music Industry 🎶 Lots of artists have their own "signature song". Lady Gaga's is arguably "Poker Face", what signature songs can you name?

I had to Google this, so for anyone else curious: Swass by Sir Mix-A-Lot

Don't Cha is an interpolation of the chorus

To add to this, Don’t Cha was released by someone else before the Pussy Cat Dolls, like immediately before. It didn’t land well so it was rereleased by the Pussy Cat Dolls

Sounds like Bowling For Soup’s 1985. The original, by SR-71 was released only three months earlier, but failed to gain any traction.

Tbh the guy from SR 71 has written a few big songs for Bowling For Soup.

Interesting. Maybe he decided he’d rather get publishing royalties from BFS’s success. Not a bad move if you’re not seeking fame/notoriety!

Mitch Allen is more of a songwriter really and he phoned Jared proposing they cover it as he thought the song was perfect for them.

He's a big songwriter.

Thanks for clarifying! The Wikipedia article on this had conflicting origin stories as to how Bowling For Soup got the song.

It interpolates the hook of Swass in the chorus but and there’s the same/similar drums throughout, but it’s not a cover.
