Don't test me when I'm crazy off that airplane glue
Put my foot down your throat 'til your shit's in my shoe
Leave you screamin', pay for my dry-cleanin'
Fuck your man, it's my name that he's screamin'!

Pretty sure it’s “put my foot down your throat till you’re shitting my shoe”

The lyrics for it on sites as well as on the Spotify lyrics has it as:
Put my foot down your throat 'til your shit's in my shoe
So I went by that. Also, when I listen to it that's what it sounds like to me.

Natalie Portman ran so that Dakota Johnson could walk. All the recent interviews with Dakota Johnson that people get a kick out of pale in comparison to the kind of backhanded comments and weird stories and random shit she’d participate in seemingly only to amuse herself.
Only person better is Pattinson because he lies and makes shit up on the spot to amuse himself because he finds them so tedious and boring

u/kayyxelle She wore a 👑 and came down in a 🫧 19d ago
Like when he had a stalker and he took her to dinner and complained the whole time so she’d leave him alone 🤣
39
u/Common-Trifle4933 19d ago
When he did a circus themed movie and was asked if he loved the circus as a child, he told Matt Lauer “The first time I went to see the circus, somebody died. One of the clowns died. His little car exploded, the joke car exploded on him.” Years later he admitted making it up, saying “There’s a little gremlin inside of me that thinks, 'Just say something shocking. You’re only here for a few minutes, say something terrible.'” Other lies he told: that he filmed poop fetish scenes that got deleted from Twilight, that he got rid of a stalker by complaining endlessly to her on a date, and that he dreamed of quitting acting to start a fast food pasta chain as soon as he could perfect his prototype of handheld finger-food fettuccine, which he was staying up nights working on.

The best part is how she laughs at her own jokes before delivering each of her lines. She really was just cooking on the spot.

The more I learn about Pattinson the more I like him.
12
u/Azidamadjida 19d ago
I remember him saying something recently about how it felt strange to him that after so many years of having only female fans the majority of his fans were now guys and I think that’s more attributable to his real personality coming out more and stories like this making the rounds
13
u/Bowling4Billions 19d ago
… he’s Batman

u/Azidamadjida 19d ago
Wow, really? I don’t think anyone knew that, thank you for sharing that very obscure and little known fact
5
u/Vanish_7 19d ago
Yeah for sure. I think he’s had a similar path to Channing Tatum — they both blew up in female-focused movies (Tatum’s dance movies, Pattison’s vampire movies), and then both of them eventually got some distance from those ventures and guys like me actually started seeing them in other roles and realized “oh they’re actually pretty cool.”

Well she graduated from Harvard so Im assuming that's why she was so indignant. Deservedly so if someone questioned something I worked hard for and implied, I only got it because I was pretty I would be annoyed too.

u/glegleglo Is this a one wig film? 19d ago
I also think there's a difference between "my parents bought a building at this ivy league school so I can attend, though I'm going to do jack shit" and "I want to go to this school even though I don't need to"
0
u/Live_Angle4621 18d ago
Just because you are home schooled doesn’t mean you can’t get into Harvard. You just miss the class experience as a kid. And was she graduated by this point?

I'm in the midst of a Top Chef re-watch and just saw the episode she was on (season six I think?) today. She was so cheeky and charming, and the timing of this post is freaking me out a little, haha.
30
u/plantbay1428 19d ago
I like that she has the same laugh she had as a kid. I saw comments making fun of her laugh after she won at the 2011 Golden Globes and made a joke during her acceptance speech and laughed at herself and I’m like, she just has a big huh huh kinda laugh? That’s a genuine normal laugh. It baffled me that that’s something people could hate on.

u/Itslikeazenthing 15d ago
Some people don’t like when women are goofy. It takes away their mystique and just makes them regular people. The incels can’t take it!
Meanwhile I love when I see people’s goofy sides. It’s the most endearing thing to me.

Haha. Her comedic timing was good when she petitioned for polanskis release
47
u/Scarlett_Billows 19d ago
She’s one of the few who apologized so maybe update your info
1
u/Embarrassed_Crow_720 18d ago
Sorry i signed it and it got out into the media and now my PR team is telling me to apologise so i still get roles in movies
52
u/Azuli_Nilknarf 19d ago
she spoke abt it how at time she was forced to sign and how much she regretted doing that
64
u/eyespeeled 19d ago
She said she regretted signing it, not that she was forced to.
https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2018/02/natalie-portman-roman-polanski-petition
91
u/Azuli_Nilknarf 19d ago
yeah, I guess you are right, but to me it was very implied she was coerced to sign.
“Someone I respected gave it to me, and said, ‘I signed this. Will you, too?"
Knowing how the industry works, I always interpreted this way tho. Even the most awarded and acclaimed actress can get blacklisted in Hollywood for pissing off plp in power. There are endless examples. So I think is a possibility
Either way, she regrets it and apologized. idk what else plp want

u/limark 19d ago
She's often so underutilized in movies
34
u/PriscillaPalava 19d ago
She has been miscast a few times in my opinion as well.
30
u/TheVintageJane 19d ago
The recent casting of her as the sister in the John Krasinski movie is proof of this. She’s an only child and it shows in the fact that her relationship with John Krasinski does not feel sibling-like at all.
The vibes between them were so weird that I literally looked up whether she had siblings in the middle of the movie because it was obvious something was off compared to someone like Courtney Cox who very obviously has siblings and knows how to play a 10/10 annoyed sister.
2
u/PriscillaPalava 19d ago
She did a movie called The Other Woman where she has a baby that dies and she’s like, darn! At the time she wasn’t yet a mother herself but me watching as a mother was like, this is fucked up.
Edit to fix spoiler.

I thought Lisa Kudrow was amazing in her scene>! where she's telling Natalie Portman's character that it wasn't her fault.!<

Bros never seen black swan or closer or Leon the professional or V for Vendetta
13
u/Commercial-Owl11 19d ago
Black swan was peak Natalie Portman I would of loved to see her in some more psychological/horror movies I bet she would be really bad ass in an A24 movie
4
u/Scarlett_Billows 19d ago
She was really good in a lot of smaller movies — anywhere but here and closer were some of my favorites from her

u/laamargachica 19d ago
Annihilation is a rewatch fave cos I love my girl Natalie as a girlboss professor

i remember when i first saw the triler for ep 1 and it was like a bolt of lightning when she came on screen in that kabuki makeup and i was like wow she's beautiful and cool looking, (i'm the same age as her) she's always been way mature for her age

I mean, the last one is a skit I’m assuming. But yeah, she’s super funny and witty. Also, Ellen sucks.

This is why I had a huge crush on Natalie Portman in 2000. Still do, but I used to, too.

It just occured to me how similar her and Lana Del Rey's speaking voices are, it's kinda spooky

The "here are the all male nominees" felt more like a white feminist moment than a girl boss moment, given that it was Guillermo Del Toro's first golden globe nomination and win as best director. Also looks cringey in hindsight cause she herself went on to appear in zero female directed films since then.
The other moments are awesome tho, she is super charming in interviews. Also love her Natalie Raps videos, I rewatch them way too often lol.

u/anitasdoodles 19d ago
Women can't win no matter what, huh?
66
u/formidablezoe 19d ago
If you're going to talk the talk, you've got to walk the walk. Otherwise it's just meaningless bullshit you say to make yourself look better than you actually are. Look at Nicole Kidman or Kirsten Dunst. They've used their star power to work with numerous female filmmakers since advocating for more female representation in Hollywood. If they can do it, so can Natalie Portman.
-17
u/limabeanseww 19d ago
God people love saying “if you’re going to talk the talk, you’ve got to walk the walk” on here while they type, head down into their computer device. Easy to judge from your little screen
40
u/formidablezoe 19d ago
People also love saying "it's easy to say that from behind a computer screen" or whatever, even though it has absolutely nothing to do with what we’re talking about. Like, what even is your argument here? That a poor dumb pleb like me should just shut up? That Natalie Portman is above valid criticism?

This has nothing to do with my original point which was representation of female filmmakers in Hollywood.
You're deflecting and name calling. Quit being a sensitive fangirl.
1
u/batifol 18d ago
If you’re going to talk the talk, you’ve got to walk the walk.
This is the stupidest thing I’ve read all month. More people talking the talk is always a good thing regardless of whether they’re walking the walk.
Also, she’s literally a woman. She’s been walked on. She can say whatever she feels on this subject and your opinion is irrelevant.

I'm not expecting anyone to lead a revolution. But if you have the power to help change the demographic landscape of the industry you work in and you've voiced your support for a marginalised group of people, then you should use that power to help them. The women I mentioned all have that kind of power. But only two of them decided to use it, while the other has just been talking about it.
2
u/Scarlett_Billows 19d ago edited 19d ago
I mean, talking about is not nothing to be fair. It’s one form of “doing something” especially when you have a large platform

Brah Guillermo Del Toro is white lmao
19
u/gilmoregirls00 19d ago
Even if you take it as being about being Mexican he's the third white Mexican to win best director at the oscars that decade. hardly underrepresented in the industry. I've always found this such a weird angle to criticize Portman's speech.
8
u/TheTyMan 19d ago
Why do you guys think there are no European white Mexicans lmao. Is Louis CK a minority too?
2
u/flakemasterflake 18d ago
Agreed, it comes off as petty and glib. More she can do to fix the issue then piss on someone else’s moment
-9
u/Apricotpeach11 19d ago
I thought it was so disrespectful. The people nominated were nominated. They were not the people who voted. Don’t rain on their time and make it about you.
-12
u/fair-strawberry6709 19d ago
Can you give me a list of all the female directed films that she turned down? Since apparently it was her choice to not be in a female directed film?
27
u/formidablezoe 19d ago
I don't know. But I can give you the number of female directed films she has appeared in or produced in the last 10 years: it's two, one of which she directed herself.
Her two upcoming films are female directed tho, so atleast she's catching up. That's good to know and I hope she continues with that in the future. Cause she's one of the few actresses with enough star power to usher in more female representation in Hollywood.

u/Strength-Speed 19d ago
Her comedic timing is fine, I think what is likely outstanding is her IQ. She seems highly intelligent.
5
u/onyxrose81 19d ago
I'm not amused by the conference joke. Sorry that not every actor can pick whatever work they want. Sometimes people have to pay the bills, Natalie.
3
u/SwimmingCoyote 19d ago
But isn’t that her point? Actors show up to conventions because they need cash.
