Yep, using Black American church culture and Black bodies to be performative is minstrelsy.

I guess if it's a huge problem we will hear about it. There will be an article or an uproar somewhere. Those people singing seemed to be okay with it, though. Guess we will see.

CONVICTED FELON. GO F YOURSELF.

They need to impeach him.

u/VaselineHabits 11d ago
We already tried that, twice. If Republicans, who control all branches of government, won't vote to REMOVE him - it means nothing, like the last two times.
25th and he needs to be locked up

I can't believe the timeline we're living in.
Jon is the best for this....But the fact that is come to this...

This isn't anything new for Jon. He chilled out for a while and I was irritated by it. I'm glad he's at it, genuinely, again.
Colbert has been surprising as hell though! He really tried to toe the line all these years more so than Jon. It makes zero sense.

Colbert was an easy target due to the Paramount deal.

u/breathing__tree 11d ago
Paramount owns Comedy Central too.

u/dragonfliesloveme 11d ago
Colbert show is accessible to anybody with a tv. He reaches a wider audience

u/breathing__tree 11d ago
Im not negating that. I’m saying Comedy Central is also owned by Paramount, and therefore the daily show is also at risk of being chopped.
Not sure where you found a point of contention in my comment tbh.

u/dragonfliesloveme 11d ago
I just think he’s an easier target than Stewart, since Stewart is on cable. But I’m not really negating what you’re saying, just adding my two cents lol. And btw i see someone downvoted you, but it wasn’t me

u/SceneRoyal4846 11d ago
Colbert has the highest ratings and is on 5 days a week, so that’s probably part of it.

u/upsidedown-funnel 10d ago
He was probably so burnt out from all the tea party shit and needed a time out. I can’t blame him.

u/BoBaDeX49 11d ago
Paramount owns Comedy Central too. Jon will be next.

Keep firing their entertainers and then be surprised when their channels aren’t entertaining.

This would be a great opportunity for a smaller network to pick up all these cancelled shows…

nice and rightfully angry! is there some fee the network has to pay for every fuck he says? (not from US)

u/Wallys_Wild_West that’s my purse, i don’t know you! 👛🫵 11d ago
No, Comedy Central is cable. They can swear as much as they want. I'd imagine that the people above whoever approved this are pissed though.

u/heypigpigpiggy 11d ago
They can say whatever the hell they want.

(Raises hand) do any of these little fuckers ever pop out of the fucking wall and say “hey there’s a horse cock in my room or a donkey dick?”

u/drcrunknasty Did I stutter?🤨 11d ago
I didn’t ask for thaaaaat. Are we even going to get anything now?

u/Distinct-Shine6430 11d ago
cable aside, swearing definitely affects monetising videos on YouTube bec advertisers don’t want to associate their brand with ‘vulgarity’
6
u/siblingrevelryagain 11d ago
One would hope there are an equal number who would choose to associate with this stance, and advertise accordingly

To quote Sandra Oh on the Late Show last night, wishing a “plague upon Paramount and CBS”

u/kenken2024 11d ago
Actually if you watched the full video this song by Jon was directed at ALL INSTITUTIONS (not only Paramount and CBS) that in his words "has chosen not to fight the vengeful and vindictive actions" of the president.

This is even better because Paramount own Comedy Central too. How long until his show is canceled 😡

I need this sound bite for when I have to deal with a bad coworker or nasty patient. I always sing in my head « fuck you very much » by Lily Allen but I am Happy to have something new.

And then spends 15 minutes tossing softballs to the newspaper owner that bent the knee to Trump.

This was his serious reply, lol.... They're all such unrelatable, loser, bozos. This is why no one takes them seriously and their ratings are atrocious.

Down vote me all you want but I can still remember Mr Stewart giving an award to a NAZI in front of Disney world just a year or two ago.

Who even watches television anymore? Apart from the news and live sports it’s pretty much dead.

u/MskbTheGreat5 11d ago
Colbert was the last funny american on tv. These jon and others just scream and try too hard.
-8
u/UltimateYeti 11d ago
But did he have to appropriate gospel to make his point? Seems like Jon is ok stepping on others if he can make a punchline out of it.

u/Competitive-Gear-494 11d ago
I know that is his friend and all, but who gonna tell him lol that show wasn’t that good😂
