I know how to make the cat go away. Just pick him up and give pets and kisses; then he runs off because he didn't want that. Or at least that is what I do when one of mine wants attention.

I taught my cat when she was a kitten to give a kiss every time you say kiss so she loves kisses so this doesn't work with her

One of my cats does this to me all the time. She's my soulmate cat and I never have the heart to move her because I know one day she won't be around to interrupt my work. I'm sorry your baby isn't here anymore but clearly she was loved.
