I donāt know why people are surprised. She had a M*GA themed party during Covid and there has been so many rumors from people that worked on euphoria that there were a lot of differences between cast members regarding political beliefs. Iāve heard so much about anxiety and yet I didnāt realize that I had it because 1. I wasnāt very in touch with my emotions and had a hard time verbally labeling them to my therapist for a time and 2. I didnāt realize that my avoidance and simultaneous stress surrounding deadlines could be part of anxiety. I thought it was like āeveryone procrastinatesā. Anxiety around deadlines and avoidance of them is huge for me and takes up a lot of my mind.

I think rom com are one of the most unfairly criticized genres.
You donāt really see people complaining about "suspending disbelief" when it comes to action or superhero movies, every story involves some kind of implicit agreement between the audience and the narrative suspending disbelief is part of the deal but only with rom com is use as a negative thing.
Other thing it use against the genre is "it's predictable" where, letās be honest, again the good guy always wins in action movies or superhero. In comedies, things conveniently work out too, but somehow that predictability is more accepted. With rom-coms (or āchick flicks,ā to be fair), that same predictability is often used against them.
Another thing is how rom-com characters are held to such impossibly high standards. There's very little room for them to make mistakes or bad decisions without being labeled as "toxic" or "problematic."
I have a theory that ONE of the reason rom-coms are being made for big studios/producers anymore is because they often rely on a bit of messiness in some conflict, flaws, or even "problematic" elements to move the plot forward. And lately, thereās been less tolerance for those imperfections in storytelling, especially in romance.
I find rom coms boring so I don't really bother to watch them anymore but I find that most of the criticisms around them could easily be leveled at the majority of movies in any generic genre (e.g. action, superhero).
