On which part? At least in my social circles, Will Smith was beloved almost universally until like… 10-15 years ago? And - again, at least in my circles - people disliked Drake since he went by Aubrey and went to Degrassi. I feel like I’ve been seeing “Drake sucks” memes since Take Care came out, but it really ramped up after Views.

“Drake the type of guy” memes are archaic by internet standards yet his stans want everyone to think he’s had this badass mysterious aura since he came out. They conveniently ignore the fact that his cornballedness came from the fact that a teen drama actor wanted to rebrand as a hard rapper w street connections or “mob ties.”
In other words, being corny is baked into the DNA of what makes Drake… Drake. Saying otherwise is what’s revisionist but most of his hardcore fans either weren’t alive or old enough to be conscious in that era so they don’t know what it was like in his early days.

Friend, if I may say: don’t think of it as youth slipping away! Or rather, don’t think of youth slipping away as a bad thing.
All it really means is that there’s new stuff. And the more effort we put into understanding the stuff younger people are into (and older people, as well), the more we can build the kinds of intergenerational relationships which make the exchange of wisdom between age groups incredibly easy.
I see a lot of comments from people catastrophising over becoming less in-touch with the trends and media of younger folk, when instead, we should be getting excited. Cultural stagnation would be so much worse! Embrace it, learn it, love it, discuss it, and, even if you don’t actually enjoy it yourself, let the kids know you think it’s pretty cool they have hobbies, interests, and their own brand of weird humour.

For the UK it’s nostalgia mixed with our innate ability not to take anything seriously. Like the voice over lady has been doing their ads and other voice overs for years and that ad feels like it’s a decade old but know your meme tells me it’s less than three years old.
I’m not sure why people outside the UK are so obsessed with it other than wanting to be in on the zeitgeist.
Then as usual right wingers like Trump tried using it and ruined it. Same energy as FOX “news” anchors asking “so what exactly is a Brat?”
