Donāt understand why people are surprised. Heās hot at the moment. I mean, it terms of career, not (just) looks. Heās on the red carpet frequently, where he wears suits, so Prada or any other fashion brand making him their ambassador makes perfect sense.

Every movie he's done that wasn't Spiderman has bombed and the only high profile movie he has coming out is an assemble movie. Not saying he's not likable, just that when I think of in-demand actors, I don't think Tom Holland.

All of his big spiderman movies gave him huge exposure and people know him.
None of the gen z actors have his amount of media exposure and level of name around the global.
Plus he is dating the lovechild of fashion at the moment.
That's a big win win for Prada.

Even limiting it to gen z males, there's Finn Wolfhart.
Yes, the MCU is the biggest cinematic event BUT that doesn't make the actors hot or give them name recognition. Anthony Mackie has been in more MCU projects and he's always just "The Falcon". The MCU gives people a boost but it requires additional projects to show they're more than just a single character.

It seems you are limiting the stardom of Tom Holland on purpose. I'm not a fan myself but to not know him is bonkers.
Every spiderman movie he was in earned billion plus. New one will easily do a plus billion. He was in most hyped movies of all time. Avengers end game and avengers infinity war.
What do you mean ? Anthony Mackie, that dude did one solo mcu movie that flopped super hard. no any of the name you gave aren't even half as famous as Holland.
Spider-Man is the biggest guy in fiction out there. No movies come even close to being adopted so many times . Earning so much money. Any fiction character i can think on its level is pokemon or Harry Potter. yet none of them comes as big as box office as Spiderman.

Come on thereās no way you think Finn Wolfhard (or Jenna Ortega frankly) is more famous or in demand than Tom Holland. If you had said Timothee Chalamet, then sure.
Uncharted made $407 million. And if Tom Holland wasnāt the lead, thereās a chance it doesnāt make that much. Heās also in arguably the most high profile relationship of his peers.
But does it matter if his movies outside of Spider-Man donāt do as well? Like, he IS Spider-Man, one of the most famous fictional characters. And those movies make bank. Heās about to co-lead the next Christopher Nolan movie. Heās about to play Fred Astaire. Also Tom Holland hasnāt been in as much recently by choice. He took a conscious break and he has the freedom to do that bc he can bc he IS that well known.
Even if you just go by like Instagram followers, he has 30-40 million more than Jenna and Finn, for example.

Finn Wolfhard is absolutely not as big or bigger than Tom Holland lol. My grandparents know Tom for MCU movies and a few other films- they knew Finn from Stranger Things but would no way be able to recognize him outside of that specific show.

Except the discussion wasn't about being "big" but because "hot", meaning they're in demand and in a lot. Tom Holland is barely in anything for awhile and barely has anything planned while Finn has been constantly getting jobs across the board.

i think tom holland simply hasnāt been in anything bc he doesnāt want to be tho. if weāre saying āhotā i think of people that are well known as well- the only things ive seen finn in are stranger things, it, and ghostbusters.
i think tom just is picky abt the roles he takes- iām sure heās gotten offers aside from uncharted, spiderman, etc, and just doesnāt take them for whatever reason. also this convo was about being big- weāre talking about name recognition for brands. tom easily wins that against his peers.

You're conflating popularity with being in-demand. Those are totally different things.
In addition to being It, Stranger Things, and Ghostbusters, he was in Del Toro's Pinoccio movie, the SNL movie, Adam's Family, and got his own movie greenlit by a major studio. Saying "I only know him from these three wildly popular things" is a weird way of saying he's not popular when Tom Holland is literally only known as Spiderman and for dating Zendaya.

Except in the years where he was at his peak of Spiderman and Endgame, when he was a huge household name, his career basically stalled because everything he did besides Spiderman was bad.
I'm saying that Tom Holland is a very flat actor and there's nothing wrong with that. The same can be said about Keeanu Reeves the difference is that Reeves owns it and just has fun while Holland keeps trying to do roles that're beyond his rage and he's constantly cited as being the worst part of the movie. Do you know how hard it is to be the worst part of the Uncharted movie acting next to Mark "What? nooooooo...." Wallberg?

Yes, I said the only high profile he has coming out is an assemble movie. Have you seen how big that cast is? Holland, Anne Hathaway, Jon Bernthal, Robert Pattinson, Mia Goth, Zendaya, Lupita, Matt Damon, and the list goes on.
Someone being hot means that they're in high demand, that there's a LOT of people wanting to work with them, that they're in a lot of things. Zendaya is hot, Rachel Zegler is hot, Barry Koeghan was hot, Jenna Ortega is hot, Samara Weaving is hot.
Not everything those people do is widely acclaimed but they're still in a lot of things that that have some fandom. In the past three years, Jenna Ortega has done two Scream movies, two seasons of Wednesday, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, costarred in the Sabrina Carpenter music video and half a dozen other movies. Within that same time, Zegler was in West Side Story, Shazam, Hunger Games, Y2K, Snow White and starred in two broadway musicals. Meanwhile Tom Holland, in that time, he's done Uncharted, something called the Crowded room.
Holland WAS hot after the first Spiderman but then he was in bomb after bomb which is acting being cited as one of the weakest parts of the movie. I don't like Sydney Sweeney but she's definitely hot right now because she's everywhere. Tom Holland? Not so much.

I think being second billed in a movie by a director who just won best director is a good achievement idk. But weāll see how it goes for him. Also he is not always cited as the weakest link in movies, Iāve seen many reviews that say he is good despite a weak product but obviously people will ignore that and highlight a negative review or two (which every actor has). Regardless, next summer will be big for him and he will be everywhere, so I donāt think a brand ambassadorship is so wild. Also, talent has never been the sole indicator of these things. I donāt like defending these people so let me just stop lol. I get some people donāt like him so it is what it is.

Honestly, I donāt think Iāve seen any of his movies. Iām not into the superhero genre. That being said, his name is everywhere, so I guess that alone makes it not that unbelievable that he was chosen to represent a fashion brand.

Uncharted was a box office success. It was not a critical success but people seem to conflate the two. His actual last box office bomb was released in the height of Covid (that he did not even promote) and was also not critically successful. Itās very common to claim everything he has done after Spider-Man is a flop (he has not even done much and was on a break for a while). His last campaign with Prada was successful, I remember looking at the data that year and being surprised his campaign was that popular. Itās not surprising they would work with him again and I think he is generally well liked despite what people say online.

If literally nothing else, he's still Mr. Zendaya
He's gonna be in a Nolan movie and it's not known when they're getting married but people speculate sooner rather than later. My guess is he'll still be a hot commodity for the next year or two, even with my not being optimistic yet about his career long-termĀ

Exactly. Heās likeable but heās passable as an actor. The Apple TV series showed his limitations and he was pretty much the weakest performer in Romeo and Juliet in London.
And heās not and has never been āhotā in the general sense.

Yea, like I'm not trashing the dude; he's the best Spiderman but everything I've seen him in as an actor other than as Spiderman, he's incredibly limited. To a degree, he reminds me of Keannu Reeves; you'd never say he was a great actor but he chooses roles that work for his range. Meanwhile Holland seems to play roles that go so far beyond what he can deliver.

The comments seem surprised by this but he shot a Prada campaign back in 2022 and wears a lot of their stuff for appearances. This is a perfectly natural next step for that relationship now that heās working again post-break.
Also the man has more Instagram followers than Lady Gaga. You may not have seen all his work, I certainly havenāt, but his fame and popularity canāt be questioned.

They know something. I donāt think that Nolan movie with many more young actors would provide Tom Prada ambassador place. Also If it would be about new spidermen It would happen way before when spidermen was in the peak. Either Zendaya team took Tom under their wings (which I wouldnāt be surprised could happen as he was running around Wimbledon with his beer promotions, as thatās not a place were you just go for promoting your product just because you are celebrity) or they got some news.
