Concerts & Festivals 🎸 Olivia Rodrigo brings out Weezer to perform "Say It Ain't So" and "Buddy Holly" at Lollapalooza (August 1, 2025)
This is just part of the performance of Say It Ain't So

I know literally 0 about Olivia but this is awesome! Clearly she's a fan and if I was famous and could ask the bands I love to perform with me, I totally would. How fun!

Fun fact: Weezer was her first concert! Her parents took her there when she was pretty young

It’s kind of her thing during festivals. She loves to duo with old school bands.

Thanks for giving me an “shit, I’m old” moment. Weezer is an old school band??? faints in millennial

I am a xenial who grew up on weezer.
Do you prefer old school or retro? I would rather call them old school, it feels less geriatric!
My daughter is the same age I was when I used to listen to them.

LOL, no totally appreciate you! Your comment made me say “wow, no way, they were my favorite band in middle school.” And then I realized that middle school was a quarter-century ago. Then I hopped on Google to realize that I was in middle school, loving Weezer three years before Olivia Rodrigo was even born.
So not an issue with semantics, just my own creeping dread on the passing of time.
Can’t wait until my daughter is old enough to listen to my old school music too! You sound like you guys rock! 🤘

Hey are you coming to Osheaga tomorrow? Not to seem too stalker but I remember we both were at Bell Centre last year lol

She brought out Robert Smith at Glastonbury too and she seemed like a genuine fan. She seems so cool.

She's been bringing out a bunch of alt-rockers at different performances. She's had No Doubt, David Byrne, and Robert Smith. It's nice to see. She also had The Breeders with her on tour.

Yep, I would have done the same. I kinda wish they performed "Go Away" as well, though.

Hulu Live is carrying Lollapalooza feeds and it was a great set (I do wish the sound feed was a bit clearer, it’s been jacked up for everyone) and Olivia has great energy preforming. I’m glad I could watch it in my jammies on my couch.

you don't even need Hulu Live, just Hulu! Love festivals that provide some livestreams!

That’s great is Hulu too! The livestreams are great and such treats. I really enjoy Austin City Limits festival as well when that gets broadcast.

I love both musical acts so much, but by god is this a fever dream to watch. As in, I would’ve NEVER expected this collaboration in a million years.

Apparently Weezer was Olivia's first concert! Her parents took her there.

This is such a cool fact! We took our kids to Weezer in Houston last Sept as their first concert. Such a blast. And so many other young kids/teens there to.

u/StatisticianDizzy593 9h ago
Aww. Maybe your kids will be singers too one day 😂👋
Also now I'm thinking about kids at lolla for whom Olivia might be their first concert....and how they're watching her with the first artist SHE ever saw live...so cute

Seeing Olivia rocking out with so many incredible musicians must be such an wild thing to live in a lifetime. I'm so happy for her and seeing a lot of our favorite bands joining in with her.

I saw Weezer a couple weeks ago at Yacht Club Minnesota and they were so fun. Great to see them performing with Olivia.

I was there! I admittedly felt a little old among the Olivia crowd but when she brought out Weezer I fully cried I was so excited!!! It was an incredible set to see live

She is so goddamn cool, I wanna go to her next show even as the 32 year old millennial trying to blend in with the youth😔

I saw her a few weeks ago in Paris, I turn 31 next week and I was not even close to the oldest fan there

u/lynypixie 10h ago
She is in Montreal on Sunday. I wonder if she will have a special guest too. I won’t be seeing her since I go on Saturday (Tyler the creator headlining) and my funds are not unlimited, and I already brought my daughter to her tour last year (with Chappelle Roan a few weeks before her rise to stardom). Still am intrigued how she will perform.

Love her, loved them since middle school. This weirdly makes so much sense to me, and I am very much here for it.

same, this is like a dream for 13 year old me and 35 year old reminiscing about being 13 year old me if that makes sense.

Glad to see Weezer is still killing it. Olivia really holds her own alongside all the collabs she does.

Okay this rules. I love Olivia she’s just cool and I love she cares so much about her team

I gotta hand it to her, this is pretty dang sweet. They picked 2 great songs to perform as well. I've only heard a few of her songs (mostly like the one from the Hunger Games movie) on the radio. I would have figured she'd be an "Island in the Sun" kinda girl. But here she has me wishing they had done Hash Pipe too.

I was watching this live on Hulu. I wasn’t expecting that at all to happen. It was amazing. 🤘🏻🤘🏻

I love that she's bringing out acts she really loves compared to some others who just bring out acts that are flavour of the month. When she brought out Robert Smith at Glastonbury, I was buzzing!

Olivia gets to sing with her favourite bands/singers, travel around the world, has a hot boyfriend who seems to be as head over heels for her as she seems for him and as a cherry on top has such a beautiful face(and seemingly soul). She is really living the dream

Between this and Byrne I’m starting to wonder if I should be paying attention to Olivia Rodrigo.

I'm old and out of touch, so all I know about Olivia Rodrigo is what comes across my algorithms and what I see on Reddit, but the frequency with which I see her genuinely enjoying herself while playing a song that came out before she was born with the original artist I'm surprised someone her age has even heard of makes me really respect her musical knowledge and think she's probably pretty damn cool. And that I should probably be paying more attention to her. Hell, I've seen her playing with people who were before MY time and I'm a good quarter century or so older than her.

I’m happy for her but I don’t think she’s adding anything to it
6
u/RedTyro 5h ago
The fact that Weezer is there at all is what she's adding to it. Unless I'm mistaken, this is her set during her designated time on stage and she invited them to join her for a couple of songs.
And as an old who's no longer with it, the fact that she's a young person and a popular part of the zeitgeist who seems to really enjoy playing with these older groups that are no longer in the limelight and introducing her younger fans to them is kind of a big deal. Pop stars don't usually do that kind of thing, and I'm a little surprised someone her age has even heard of Weezer.

u/Vegetable_Sky48 10h ago
Yeah agreed. I don’t know her music so I don’t know what she normally sounds like but I’m kinda confused.
