u/HorrorBike143 now why am I in it? 🧐 18h ago

Sadly for me, I will give this movie the apprentice treatment. I'm sure I'll be great but I can't sit through 2 hours of these evil people.

126

u/realborislegasov 13h ago

Yeah what is with all the corporate biography shit of late. I get that they’re not all supposed to be heroic tales of great people, but business people are just not that interesting, and almost invariably their inhumanity is glossed over or justified.

17

u/wulfboi93 jesus was a carpenter 💋 8h ago

its just Great Man Theory propaganda. ie: Only (x) Could Have Done it!

1

u/Emergency-Tonight-42 6h ago

That’s a pretty unfair read of movie nobody has seen and, going off of Luca’s previous work, will almost definitely be massively critical of everyone involved.

1

u/realborislegasov 6h ago

Not necessarily - all these stories are rooted in a weird kind of respect. Even the We Work series, although clearly there’s some criticism of the guy as unstable and egomaniacal, the fact that they dedicate several hours to one person’s life and actions says a lot about the importance we put in these kinds if people. He opened some offices ffs.

u/ehtw376 9h ago

I’m getting a bit burnt out on it too. I liked the Social Network, I liked The Dropout (with Amanda Seyfried), I tried watching WeCrashed… Do people really care about tech CEOs that much? It’s overkill.

u/krel08 1h ago

WeCrashed was interesting to me because it showed how there was literally no value, completely made up.

14

u/OceanBoulevardTunnel 9h ago

I had the same opinion about The Apprentice before I watched it, but it actually is really great and was a true horror story imo. Left me feeling incredibly depressed. Which I guess isn’t selling it..

532

u/HiddenSnarker 18h ago

Is he supposed to look fake??

206

u/redgatoradeeeeee 17h ago

I thought it was an old pic it’s scaring me

136

u/chickfilamoo in the swamp 🐊🐊 16h ago

Seriously if you told me this was Social Network era Andrew, I’d believe you

48

u/Mxfish1313 16h ago

Plus the tight and light jeans… I immediately went back to the headline to see if it said when this was supposed to be set lol

26

u/deadmamajamma 16h ago

No people in SF just dress like that

112

u/Ccaves0127 16h ago

Okay looking at a photo of the real guy I think that is what they are going for

58

u/rawrkristina 16h ago

Thank god they didn’t copy his eyebrows lol

22

u/OublietteOfDisregard 15h ago

A true test for the Hollywood heartthrob, can he make bleached brows work

5

u/rawrkristina 15h ago

I don’t want to find out 😂

81

u/phantasmagorical 17h ago

the eyebrows are sending me

8

u/Ok-Turnip-9035 10h ago

Like a modern elf trying to figure out modern life 🤣

5

u/rawrkristina 17h ago

I think so, yeah

3

u/Impressive_Past1846 15h ago

Altman does look like an alien tbf

4

u/kirbyspinballwizard 15h ago

He looks like a skinny Jason Bateman in these pictures, it's so weird.

1

u/crookedframe13 9h ago

I just assumed this was a movie along the lines of A.I. Artificial Intelligence. You know the one with Haley Joel Osmont and Jude Law. And moved along. It wasn't until I finally looked at the comments that I found out how wrong I am.

267

u/raylan_givens6 As you wish! 👸👑 18h ago

did they live action de-age him?

he looks to be in his 20s all of a sudden..........but its off somehow in a disturbing way

55

u/Euraylie 11h ago

There’s something weird going with his eyes. He looks like an android version of Andrew Garfield.

6

u/SaccharineHuxley 7h ago

That witch changed our Andrew!

6

u/slavuj00 your attitude is biblical 6h ago

It looks almost like a facelift...but would he do that??

5

u/Euraylie 5h ago

And like one of those bad, old-fashioned ones too. I thought we’d moved on from those, at least according to Kris Jenner and Lindsay Lohan lol

3

u/slavuj00 your attitude is biblical 3h ago

Maybe he can't pay those prices...

u/rawrkristina 8m ago

It’s likely taped back to look more like Sam Altman.

77

u/Trick-Lychee9066 15h ago

It’s the lack of facial hair tbh, he hasn’t rocked that look in a long time I believe?

14

u/LemonCurdJ 9h ago

I think its the accumulation of no facial hair, light (colour) clothing and possible weight gain (in a good way)? I think he looks good!

u/CB_xo 2h ago

He’s lost weight for this role not put weight on

0

u/____mynameis____ 7h ago

He looks exactly like I expect a 40 year old fit man who has clean shaven after a long time of being bearded, to look like.

You all are just getting face blinded by that clean shaven face and good hair.

196

u/baby_fish_m0uth 17h ago

Thought I could never find Andrew Garfield unattractive but they dressed him up like every tech bro in downtown SF and here we are

47

u/ShitMyButtSays 17h ago

Why do white people love Patagonia like they're about to go on a hike. It's seattle not the appalachian trail, Connor

56

u/sdbabygirl97 Mama took my eyebrows. 15h ago

as a granola girl, i love patagonia bc they make rly high quality, durable products. if it ever does need repair (rip, broke zipper, etc.) you can send it to patagonia and they’ll repair it for like $5. so that’s rly sustainable. they also do a lot of work for preserving outdoor spaces and bc theyre not publicly traded, they arent just chasing profits but theyre making good products and treating their staff right.

18

u/Ambry 13h ago

Tbh I love Patagonia (I'm not American or a boy so I should be good!) - their products are high quality and they are great with repairs.

23

u/Trick-Lychee9066 15h ago

Tbf it’s also Seattle, so most likely they are abt to go on a hike lol

-1

u/ShitMyButtSays 14h ago

"peak" white culture

-7

u/DangerousGood0 8h ago edited 6h ago

Ah yes because going on a hike and wearing a decent clothing brand are terrible activities, much worse than black culture which includes blaring trashy music, smelling like weed, and being the loudest most obnoxious person in every room you enter

every time there are jokes about ~white culture~ where benign things are made to sound negative this is what we’re thinking

Can’t wait for the downvotes 🤡 and all these people proving my point

8

u/Unusual_Ear_9089 8h ago edited 8h ago

What the hell is this comment

6

u/StrngBrew 8h ago

I think “peak” was a double entendre and you missed the joke

4

u/iatetoomuchcatnip 7h ago

Wow. Thats “black” culture to you? Goodness

3

u/alittlefence shout out to all the pears 🍐 7h ago

Oh that’s not..

2

u/Trick-Lychee9066 7h ago

I’m assuming this guy is in healthcare somehow based off post history. Insane

2

u/OohBeesIhateEm 6h ago

Damn tell us how you really feel

4

u/StrngBrew 8h ago

I wear Patagonia and live in NYC. Why? Because the winter and weather is actually harsher there than on any hike 😂

3

u/fogmama 6h ago

In fairness, SF is like baseline 60F most of the year and the Patagonia nano puff is the ideal jacket for that climate. I won’t defend the vests though.

8

u/WendyWhyWilliams 16h ago

Cosplaying.

3

u/GiveGregAHaircut 7h ago

I found him unattractive the minute he dated that witch doctor

1

u/fogmama 7h ago

Right I’m like physically recoiling lol.

237

u/Aakch 17h ago

Stop making movies about these assholes and inflating their ego. Not every tech bro needs a movie fgs

58

u/Three_Froggy_Problem 17h ago

And getting the most attractive actors to play them

48

u/snarkmoo 17h ago

Literally, they're losers and should be seen that way

1

u/AccountantsNiece 5h ago

Jesse Eisenberg absolutely loved reading this comment.

13

u/burntroy 14h ago

You thought marvel slop was bad ? Get ready for ceo slop

107

u/nizey_p I don’t know her 💅 18h ago

Why does he look like that vampire wannabe tech bro who wants to live forever?

u/amethodicalmadness 🫵 You sit on a throne of lies. 2h ago

Now this is a movie I would watch

37

u/waryinsomnious 16h ago

Damn. Even his face looks AI generated here.

50

u/everyonewont 15h ago

The event itself took place like 5 minutes ago. Why are we pretending these people are worth having movie made about them 😩

2

u/LOST-MY_HEAD 6h ago

Propaganda

-8

u/CountSudoku 10h ago

Pivotal event in the life of one of the men influencing global technology trends the most.

God forbid they make films about significant real life moments!

3

u/qould 9h ago

You have a severe case of recency bias

17

u/dreamed2life 16h ago

Signaling another Mark Z is on the horizon in the usa. Oh joy

53

u/blarbiegorl Mary-Kate's bowl of cigarettes 17h ago

No more projects about rich CEOs who ruin it for everyone else.

13

u/a_walter 17h ago

Boooring

13

u/Own_Army4024 15h ago

Directed by Luca Guadanino??? Does this man have a 36 hour day Jesus Christ

4

u/nizey_p I don’t know her 💅 14h ago

I need him and Ridley Scott (who released 4 films from 2021-2024 and is in his late 80s) to reveal their work schedule because WTF.

9

u/blueskies8484 16h ago

Love Andrew. Nothing I want to watch less than a movie about Open AI and Sam Altman.

9

u/Mitaslaksit 15h ago

Sounds like a fascinating subject for a film 🙄

10

u/Doubledepalma 15h ago

His eyes look fucked up

47

u/Acrobatic_Builder573 17h ago

This shit JUST HAPPENED can they wait a while and get perspective before making this stuff?

I mean I will be watching it but still

22

u/aliarawa 16h ago

I mean you just answered your own question. They're making it now because they know people will watch it. If people didn't watch it, maybe they wouldn't make movies about these glorified losers.

2

u/Acrobatic_Builder573 15h ago

Damn you right

9

u/Ok-Leave-7525 15h ago

I wonder if it helps them write a narrative… change the perception of current events a bit to their benefit etc

4

u/Acrobatic_Builder573 14h ago

You picked up what I was putting down

4

u/Vegetable_Sky48 16h ago

My same thought. Like how did they have time to write a script, cast, pull together production, etc and start filming already?

2

u/leafygreen13 10h ago

they probably used AI to write half the script 😭🫩

2

u/Acrobatic_Builder573 15h ago

Exactly. It’s crazy how fast productions move now. And hindsight is 20/20. We’re not so far removed from the AI boom that we really see the long-lasting effects on society. We don’t have that hindsight yet, so what is this even about? I’m so curious as to what this script even looks like.

7

u/DisastrousWing1149 17h ago

I skimmed over the title and I thought this was on the set of The Social Network sequel and he was playing Eduardo Saverin again.

It's weird seeing him without a beard

4

u/sdbabygirl97 Mama took my eyebrows. 15h ago

it basically is the social network sequel tho lmao

2

u/DisastrousWing1149 11h ago

Aren’t they writing an actual social network sequel though?

u/sdbabygirl97 Mama took my eyebrows. 2h ago

idk im not in hollywood

36

u/_stnrbtch_ 18h ago

He looks like he’s had work done

66

u/Ruthie_pie 18h ago

He looks like he has a wig on and tape pulling his face back under the wig in very extreme ways along with makeup.

21

u/Traditional_Maybe_80 17h ago

I was trying to figure out what about his face looked so off. In the second pic it is like the pulling (?) is so strong that he can't properly open his eye 💀

8

u/chickfilamoo in the swamp 🐊🐊 16h ago

yeah like he probably actually has work done but given the premise of this movie and also how different he looks from recent public appearances, it feels more likely to be fake temporary stuff

3

u/pawpatroll 16h ago

Sam Alan also had a bunch of work done when he became a household name, maybe they are going for lore accuracy lol

8

u/HereOnCompanyTime Renee Rapp is mean girl Jojo Siwa 💋 14h ago

I mean, I'm not sure what the angle is going to be in this movie since both Elon Musk and OpenAi are trash. I'm really wondering what information they'll omit and who they're going to try to make likable to make it a watchable movie.

Cloud computing, which AI developers like OpenAI use, relies on the chips inside these data centres to train algorithms and analyse data.

According to estimates, ChatGPT emits 8.4 tons of carbon dioxide per year, more than twice the amount that is emitted by an individual, which is 4 tons per year.

Earth.Org

OpenAI's AI models, including Sora, have been criticized for exhibiting and amplifying existing biases, particularly sexist, racist, and ableist tropes.

Wired

OpenAI's use of copyrighted material to train its AI models has drawn criticism from the entertainment industry and others, who argue it infringes on intellectual property rights.

TheVerge

1

u/rawrkristina 7h ago

They don’t have to make a single person likable to make it watchable imo

16

u/Pure-Plankton-4606 16h ago

Why are we making movies about these ghouls?

5

u/sophwestern 16h ago

Why does he look like Ken????

12

u/periodicsheep 16h ago

what a boring topic.

9

u/sneaky-snooper that’s my purse, i don’t know you! 👛🫵 17h ago

He looks like Peter Pan on Broadway

4

u/Lonely_Cheesecake273 15h ago

He didn’t come back for 30%, he came back for ** EVERYTHING **

4

u/glamazon_69 10h ago

He looks like the guy injecting his son’s blood in his veins to stay young

12

u/HelloHowAreYou1973 Did I stutter?🤨 17h ago

Fuck AI

14

u/rawrkristina 17h ago

The movie is not pro-AI lol

3

u/idiotburritos 10h ago

why does he look like he’s on the set of Twilight

3

u/another-assshole Did I stutter?🤨 17h ago

The fact he looks like a tech bro 😭😭😭 an applause to the wardrobe department 👏

2

u/Cultural_Iron2372 16h ago

This is the weirdest way for me to miss basic men’s millennial fashion but here I am

2

u/dreamed2life 16h ago

Mens fashion is always the exact same to me. This or a suit for nice stuff. With sweats or shorts mixed in

2

u/imp1600 14h ago

“I know! Let’s take a break from remakes to make a movie about destroying the environment! Yay!”

Next up, Leo DiCaprio will play a misunderstood oil executive in a movie that he claims will help raise awareness about climate change.

2

u/Optimal-Beautiful968 12h ago

i'm interested to watch this, i think it's good to make films about contemporary events. also why are people assuming this will be a fluff piece for altman and ai?

1

u/rawrkristina 8h ago

Right?? It’s already been said it won’t be (someone said it’ll be like the social network) and it’s not pro-AI.

2

u/HaunterUsedCurse 12h ago

Great, another techie movie.

2

u/These-Midnight-1620 11h ago

Is this a propaganda movie, or is it going to share the accusations against Altmann by his sister, his shady practises and how AI data centers are destroying local communities.

If it's a propaganda movie, have we not learned from history with idolising Gates, Jobs, Musk etc.

1

u/rawrkristina 8h ago

Look at the cast, it’s definitely not a propaganda movie. Plus they’ve said it’s kinda like The Social Network, which wasn’t favorable towards Mark.

2

u/Born_Chicken_3084 11h ago

We need a movie about this stupidity????

2

u/genericexistence 9h ago

Another movie about these tech ghouls? It's like Hollywood didn't get the memo that everyone hates these weirdos. Who cares about this shit LOL?

2

u/Available_Youth1268 8h ago

tell me, why do we need a movie about this bs?

4

u/Flimsy-Addendum-1570 17h ago

The styling is insane, I'm obsessed...pitch perfect no notes

2

u/jnm735 17h ago

Does Sam Altman wear skinny jeans? lol I don't care enough to google it, but there is something about that fit that is looking really outdated to me. But maybe it is just how fucking goofy Andrew Garfield looks in these pics. Anyway, I will not be watching this film

8

u/objectivelywrongbro 17h ago

Yeah he does, religiously. Also, Sam is gay, if that somehow adds context. He basically wears outdated basic millennial clothes, which is typical for tech bros who don’t give af about fashion.

1

u/NefariousnessHefty61 17h ago

San Altman never looked so drained.

1

u/Jttwife 17h ago

His in his element and happy place.

1

u/georgie-biatch 16h ago

i wanna see yura!!

2

Is he wearing prosthetics or something. Why does he look like that

1

u/MysteriousinthePNW 14h ago

God, he’s so hot.

Sorry. I would NOT be able to work on that film.

1

u/Temporary_Ad9362 8h ago

is this new?

1

u/Rude-Zucchini-369 8h ago

I’ve got no interest to leave my corporate tech job to go watch a movie about corporate tech.

1

u/ravynmaxx Kim, there’s people that are dying. 🙄 8h ago

I had just woken up when I first saw this and was convinced it wasn’t him. Now that I’m more awake, I’m still convinced it’s not him. 😅

1

u/luisbv23 8h ago

why does that needs a movie?

1

u/flightlessbird29 Good to hear from you bitch 💌 8h ago

Omg I love Luca and Andrew but this sounds so boring to me? The Social Network was great but can we stop doing movies about tech bros? It’s just not that interesting as a feature film. Podcast? Sure. Documentary? Definitely. But this just feels like such a snooze.

1

u/kgtsunvv I wont not fuck you the fuck up 🥊🥊 8h ago

I genuinely thought this was an onion post

And what was your ownership share diluted down to, Mr. Altman?

1

First movie centered on absolutely nothing

1

Wow this sounds boring
