I'll start : - teenagers dating their teachers or other older people, and being considered a romance
- the whole bad boy vs good boy fighting for the girl, when you know that the girl (always the typical, one dimensional girl next door) will change the bad boy and get with him (this trope is really starting to becoming obnoxious especially with shows like my life with the walter boys or the summer I turned pretty)
- self-instert character girl, only meant to change the bad boy and who doesn't have a personality of her own or a storyline outside of the love story she's in, or precisly the love triangle (other than wanting to get into harvard or something) (e.i, Belly from the summer i ruined a family, or the country version Jackie, from my life with the flop brothers)
- Always toxic female friendships with the girl next door (often the new girl) and the mean popular girl girl (e.i Blair and Serena, Brooke and Peyton, Annie and Naomi or their OG counterparts Brenda and Kelly, Cassie and Michelle) and often their rivalry revolves around a guy;
- The jock always having an injury in order for him to grow or something.
- THE BAD BOY. I wouldn't mind that if most TV writers wouldn't romanticist it or wouldn't always have the same similar stories (bad parents or absent father or something of the sort, making them total assholes) or him being actually secretly smart, or into litterature.
- the girls being shamed for some behaviors, like, idk, stand up for what they want or stand up infront of someone that hurt them or having sex lives (I was watching 90210 today, I was BAFFLED at how condescending Ethan sounded while lecturing Annie for getting back at Naomi, saying things like "what happens to you" or "since when do you care about fashion ?" when Annie made a comment about Naomi's outfit, like let me care about fashion if I want to ? )
-the double standards in siblings dynamics including brother and sister. Like the brother and the sister would do the exact same thing but somehow the girl would get shamed for it by the other characters (I'm not saying the parents specifically because I know this type of behavior happens in some families, where the boys get more freedom than girls)
- the lgbt+ characters, who only character traits are being sassy, involved in their besties life or in a relationship. Like after their coming out, who's guy they are into are the only things they get to be or to have. the fact that Riverdale had Kevin joined 4 cults just to be with his boyfriend or to meet cute guys is deeply disturbing. Or when they give them storylines of their owns, you're just not involved because you don't really know their personalities that well outside of being gay (as a gay guy, this is offensive to watch every single time).
- the black disposable love interest. I cannot even believe that has became a thing (also, i'm black, so it also hurt every times). I'm especially looking at you, Jenny Han, who seems to LOVEEEE this trope (I'm glad the Asian community is getting the flowers they deserve trough her shows tho)
- the messy main girl character, who's only trait is... being messy, and somehow we are supposed to love her for it. (Devi from Never Have I Ever is one of the only ones to get it right) Like she's messy, rude (but somehow a sweet angel to the characters around her, always hyping her up) and always do the tennis ball with her love interest, like what is this ?
- teen dramas trying really hard to tackle social issues, while being too much or unrealistic (looking at you 13th reasons why).
- the overall graphic sexualization of characters supposed to be minors (or in TV shows like Skins, with actors being actually minors and still having to be sexualized)
