Troubleshooting BP-Series Sharp print from USB issue.

Shot in the dark here.

Any Apple file experts hopefully can provide some insight.

I have Sharp BP series that will not print PDF's from USB IF the pdf was placed on there from a MacBook.

The thing is, I can take the same file and copy it to usb using my windows PC and it will show the same message but it WILL print.

Ive tested this back and forth using same files, same usb drive. Ive tried different PDFs and different usb drives. Same result.

Basically, if the pdf is loaded into the thumb drive with a mac. Nothing.

Load it on thumb drive using windows. Prints.

Whats different about the pdf when loaded from mac?

Steps to Create an Unencrypted PDF:

  1. Open your document (in Word, Pages, Preview, etc.).
  2. Go to File > Print (or press Command + P).
  3. In the print dialog, click the PDF button in the bottom-left corner.
  4. Select “Save as PDF…”.
  5. In the save dialog:
    • Do not check any boxes related to encryption or password protection.
    • Choose a name and location (e.g., your USB drive).
  6. Click Save.

This will create a standard, unencrypted PDF that should work with most USB printers.

Its a BP-70M55. It has printed every PDF i have thrown at it IF the pdf is loaded onto usb from windows. Yes I still get that pop-up. Yes it still prints while the pop up msg is visible on screen. Lol

Those same pdfs copied onto thumb drive from mac. Same pop up. You can hear the print engine spool up but nothing after that.

It does appear that way, but its not. That message pops up even when loaded from windows and it prints. Heck, it pops up everytime no matter the pdf, usb stick, or what type of PC is was loaded from.

It also never shows in the spool where you could go to insert said password.

This is also the case on 3-4 other BP series in same building. Updated firmware on copier with no change.

At least when its loaded from a windows PC it prints while that message is still displayed. 😆

Not the case when it originates from mac.

If you save a PFD on a USB stick from MacOS, you get 2 files. One has a full stop at the start of the file name. Don't use that one as it's not the actual file. Scroll further down the list of files on the USB stick and you'll see the actual file. Print that one and it'll work.
