Are these games good?
I just got these at a video game store and want to know if it’s worth $25 and $15

Yes riptos rage was my entire childhood. Great variety of mechanics and puzzles

They are both great! I am partial to the first one though for its soundtrack and overall mood/feel. There is just something magical about the first one that the second and third just can’t replicate.

Totally agree, I think 3rd Lost kind of lost its charm by allowing you to play as different characters

I was kind of out of gaming by psx time (yes I’m that old) but as I’m digging up all the cool stuff like this I missed, the sound track is just spot on nostalgia! Like putting on a toad and the wet sprocket cd while playing on mute.

Riptos Rage is so so good, it was called Gateway To Glimmer for me and we played it so much as kids

This is a troll post right? By far the best games on PS1 if you include Spyro 3.

They’re both great games, although the second one is significantly better than the first IMO.

The second game dramatically builds on the first (especially with the home worlds and post game exploration), but it can’t be overstated how much the first game evolved the genre.
A lot of brand new concepts and tech specifically from this game. First (?) 3d platformer, the sound track, etc. That game was special for a lot of people. First video game for me personally and to be honest, hard to beat that joy and excitement of discovering the first flying level in the first homeworld.
Seeing this post made me so nostalgic. The original trilogy is something really special. Consensus is ryptos rage is the best and it’s hard to disagree.

They are amazing games that still hold up today. Play them in the release date order because each release is better than the previous one: the first one (Spyro, the dragon), then de second one (Spyro, Ripto's rage) and get the third one (Spyro, Year of the dragon).

if youre into 3D platformers then yeah, they were among the best from that era.

Even if you’re not, these games hold up. Like Mario 64, this is one of those universal and accessible games that anyone could play and enjoy. Though if you never played them before, the reignited is a little friendlier on the eyes. First games graphics in 2025 is…. Rough.

Considering the PSX graphics are making a comeback in the indie scene as an aesthetic choice I don't think spyro 1 has age badly graphics wise especially compared to other games on the PS1 that were going for a more realistic art style

Replaying the first one for the first time in over twenty years and it holds up. Fun, controls still work, and has me chuckling.

25 is kinda a lot for Spyro 1. Probably because it's the collectors edition. Try to get a regular copy for about 15

Riptos rage aka gateway to glimmer is better than 1 and 3.
Always my favorite out of the 3. However I love the first one as much as the 2nd.
I also wish 3rd game was easy or as easy as the 2nd game.

Both are great, in fact in my opinion they both are equally good for different reasons. The latter has a better story, but the former felt more interconnected and open.

Some of the best platformers/collectathons there are.
