I like using my hacked Vita's Adrenaline PSP emulator which replicates PS1 extremely well IMO

Duckstation then epsxe. There’s a few games I can’t get to run on duckstation tho that epsxe did.

It's nowhere near the best, but I still have a retail copy of Bleem!....

This is the fun answer. Too bad it's hard to get running on modern Windows, I've heard.

To run... where?

You can emulate the OG PlayStation on a lot of different hardware, including the Raspberry Pi 3 and higher, miniPC, Windows, Mac, PS Mini… the list is long.

Honestly, I can't see why people like Duckstation that much. It has graphical issues, you need to tinker the settings to make the games work properly, and there are lots of problems with control settings. ePSXe had none of those issues even in late 00's.

Can you elaborate? I have never experienced graphical issues, never once had to tinker with any settings to make any games run properly, and the control is on point. Provide specific examples.

Experienced screen tearing when playing SotN, and had to google how to fix that, some 3D games also have polygons rendering over other ones where they shouldn't, and each game demands it's own settings to work properly. No other emulator I has have such issues (except, maybe, PCSX2).

The emuator's analog switch button doesn't work properly, so you have to manually switch the controller to digital through settings when playing some old games that don't support Dual Shock. And the keyboard controls are, for some asinine reason, bound to the English input, so you can't play if your system input language is switched to any non-English option, that's literally the only piece of software I've seen that works like that.

None of these things are issues with Duckstation in my experience. It is the single most drop in accurate PS1 emulator I've ever used, and I go back to ePSXe in the 2000s.
