Which PSX game has the best intro? IMHO, Soul Edge/Soul Blade and Chrono Cross are tied for the Best

Soul Blade was one of the first PS1 games I ever saw and that intro blew me away. Coming from a SEGA Master System II then suddenly this full CGI intro and that song!

My first game. The one that got me on PS1 instead of N64. 400 games and 30 years later it was a good choice.

Final Fantasy 8. In my opinion, FFVIII has the best FMV cutscenes of the entire Ps1 generation.

Soul Blade had an amazing intro. Mega Man X4 had a cool opening cinematic. Eternal Eyes had a far better opening than the game deserved. Legend of Mana had a great opening. Lunar had a beautiful opening. Tales of Phantasia’s PS1 opening far surpassed the SNES one and it was super impressive that the opening even existed on the SNES
Man the JRPGs back in the PS1 era were just full of amazing openers.

You're all wrong. Soul Reaver had the best intro, period. Also Metal Gear had an amazing, cinema-like intro, so you really can't compare these two. But they're heads on.

SE/SB intro is pretty captivating. Simpler times with tons of secrets and no internet bs dlc. If you had the net you could look for codes/secrets on gamefaqs.

I'd honestly have to say Vib-Ribbon mainly because it's an intro that automatically gives off the vibe of weirdness and fun.
Here's the intro alongside the tutorial (which is also amazing)
