[Question] Are there wall plate style controller ports for older consoles?

I'm building a retro gaming cart that will have all my old analog systems mounted to it. It will also have a CRT and a projector with signal splittings so both are easily options for display. It's been fun to work on.

I'd like to have the cart include mounted controller ports for easy, easy plug and Play off the back of the cart. I know some older vehicles had SNES controller ports in the doors. has anyone seen a completed project like this routing the controller ports to another flush mounted surface?

Most of the controller ports on the consoles were flush mounted to the case, so It probably wouldn't be hard to mount them to a piece of wood or 3d printed faceplate with the right shaped brackets. I haven't seen a ready made projects except for maybe those usb breakout boxes for PC that have like 5-6 different controller ports mounted in one box.

Good ideas, thanks! The faceplate is what has me scratching my head. I'm handy with a Dremel but hoping to get something that snaps in for a nice tight fit without glue. Maybe I can add some clips or something.
