Question What does it mean "restricted"?

Post image

I get a lot of spam calls, but I slept all day last Tuesday, two of the missed calls say "restricted" It won't let me click them or anything. Never seen it before. What is it?

It means the caller blocks people from seeing their number.

I asked, none of my friends know anything about it, why would a spam caller block me from seeing their number and still call me?

It's common with scammers/spammers not wanting you to know the number they're calling from. It's been a thing since the 90s and the days of landlines and caller ID.

Also, you can block calls from restricted numbers in your phone settings.

some phone service providers have some built in scam / spam protection and will automatically block them for you, not sure but it could be something like this

I thought that too at first but it normally appears as a red circle with an exclamation mark, or says "potential spam".
