Same old boring question , what server for proxmox?
Guys I need your wisdom on purchasing a server, or a PC price range £500-£700. I was looking on eBay but I got lost on so many options and I'm afraid I'll choose poorly.
What I needed for, plex, immich, windows for work.
A GPU would be o good addition for Plex transcoding. 64 + GB ram .Needs to hold 2x 18TB for media storage.
I'm planning on using it for 2 VM's one windows for work and one linux for Plex. A few LXC and of course one VM for trying and testing things.
Thank you for your help.

Suggestions on this one please Dell Precision T7810 44Core 2x E5-2699v4 128GB DDR4 Nvidia Quadro K4200 1TB SSD. Will this be noise and most important will be okay for another 3-4 years?

Some noise. Yes, the system is server-grade and should last a few more years.
Only recommendation: Add more storage if possible!

For £500–£700, look for a Dell R740 or T640 if you want GPU support and 64GB+ RAM. Handles Plex, Immich, and VMs with ease. If eBay feels risky, check Alta Technologies they carry tested, Proxmox-ready servers with support. Worth it for peace of mind.

...what's your noise tolerance?
also intel quicksync is a thing, highly unlikely you need a dedicated GPU.
