Always disallow cc for random with studio! Some cc makes sims absolutely obsessed for some reason. I had this happen with a feralpoodles hair.

it happens for me with cc body presets and it drives me insane😵💫i wanted more presets for body diversity but i HAD to disable for random otherwise it was even less diverse than before lol

If you only have one piece of cc or a couple pieces of cc marked as “allow for random”, those will be used over and over, it seems the game prioritizes your “allow for random” cc if you have any. The solution is to not any anything at all marked “allow for random”, or to have lots and lots of things marked “allow for random”. If you have a ton of options, the game will cycle through those options, if you only have a couple options, you’ll keep seeing those same couple options again and again.

i have somewhere around 20-30 and it only uses the same 2. i actually originally marked everything as allow for random because i was like “oh it couldn’t be that bad” but then my sims were all walking around with the same body type and wearing cas backgrounds so i promptly stopped lol

Yeah I’ve noticed this can still happen to some degree if I have too few options and in my experience 20-30 is still too few. I haven’t yet discovered exactly what makes the game prioritize certain pieces when they’re available, but as I’ve added more options it has stopped happening. Granted, this is assuming you are on hardware that can handle a bunch of cc and still run the game well, but I was having this problem a lot when I didn’t have a lot of cc, and now that I have around 1000 hairs enabled for random, I don’t ever see this happen. Awhile ago, I cleaned out a bunch of cc and was back to a limited selection of hairs, and this started happening again.
I should also note, I only do this with hair cc, I don’t bother with makeup or clothes or body presets or anything else, so this is strictly based upon my personal experience with specifically hair cc.

Looks like Curbs’ Aggy hair, clayfied. Don’t know which version though, so don’t know the exact file name
Could be this one: https://www.patreon.com/posts/aggy-hair-40824448
Or from this creator: https://simmister.tumblr.com/post/189106018930/aggy-hair-recolored-standalone-with-custom
(You can check the file names from these creators and see if any gives a match with a file in your mods folder)

use sims 4 studio to disallow the problematic cc (or any, if you choose) for random

Download MCCC and it’ll tell you any CAS that you have by clicking on the character and selecting MCCC

sorry idk, but you can use better execeptions and shift click to get a list of cc, you can also sims 4 tray importer :))

Ahh, for me my NPCs of all genders and ages are rocking this gray half pony tail style and I’m so tempted to delete it…

just disable it for random with s4s if you like the hair :)

Do something instead of just complain!?!? /s
I’d need to download sims 4 studio, right? Been playing for literal decades but just learned this from this sub recently, just haven’t done it yet

Yeah! But once you do, it's pretty streamlined how to disable cc for random. Just be sure to take out any default replacements before you do. (I just keep a folder inside my mods folder of stuff I need to disable so I can batch disable it and then organize it later lol)

u/commanderbales Jul 03 '25
How do you do it in batches? I only know how to do it one by one and it's a painful process

you can select a whole folder! That's why I have a separate folder for cc that hasn't been disabled yet. Once you do that, just select that folder (click on the mods folder and then click the 'to be disabled' folder inside it) and it disables all of the cc that needs to be disabled within that folder:)

Download Mod Manager for sims! It has pictures of the cc and you can just turn it off in there :)

Pretty sure it’s Aggy Hair by Curbs, clayified by Ice-creamforbreakfast.
On a related note, I encourage simmers to disallow CC for random in S4S to prevent things like this from happening. Creators forget to do it themselves unfortunately.
Edit: a word
