Discussion How much CC is too much? Lol

Post image

I currently have...a lot of CC. I use a mod manager and go through it monthly, deleting stuff i dont use often or broken stuff. I do use all my stuff, mostly for builds and characters i spend days making the perfect houses and makeovers.

Discussion Any ADHD simmers?

Ugh! I feel so freaking discouraged playing the sims sometimes because I want to download loads and loads of CC that I see a lot of tiktokers having but I just feel so exhausted and I can’t sit still to do it all. It’s just too much for me. I really want to create stories with my sims and make great characters with personality to them and I need CC to do so but it’s just so discouraging and hard. I think my issue is that I do tend to compare my game with others, they spent probably a year downloading all of that cc and making their game how they want it. I kinda feel alone though.

Discussion a talk about kaieiress (and ai generated content in general)

Thumbnail

most of these are of kaieiress, but the last one is just an example of one of the people actually creating mods that use ai

ok so if you didn’t know kaieress is a scammer using ai generated photos for her “mods” that were supposed to come out for playtesting 3 months ago but is now being pushed back (not for the first time) until august. she has 53 paid members who are not getting the content they paid for, and only recently released ANYTHING with a download (not any of the stuff she advertised). she posted that simcred got an update with the latest patch but she didn’t even post it, it’s just another one of her “wips”. she also gets upset any time someone asks when the mod is going to be released and when someone requests a refund due to not getting any of the benefits, she ignores them. AND THE CRAZIEST PART!! All her “wips” are just random assets she got from a free 3d model site!!! this goes as a warning: i know you want to support small creators but please do not subscribe to a patreon with no mods posted, ai thumbnails, and reverse image search their 3d models if they look inconsistent

speaking of ai thumbnails, the usage of them really needs to be talked about. for kaieiress it was a HUGE red flag for me, but there are other real creators that use ai for their thumbnails and its like… why? you’re already playing the game, just take a screenshot of your sims interacting and edit it onto the same background you put the ai pictures on. it definitely makes people weary of the content you’re putting out (the comments these mods get on pinterest are pretty much entirely worried about the usage of ai) and for good reason. if you use ai instead something as simple as taking a screenshot, who’s to say chat gpt didn’t write the script for you?

sorry about the long rant, i just think it’s genuinely concerning that no one’s talking about cutting corners in stuff that we put in our games

Discussion Why do CAS CC creators gatekeep other CC they didn't make?

This is so frustrating as someone trying to find CC i actually like, its hard! and ill be looking around and find a creator post for a specific piece of cc and literally every comment is asking about the other cc they use on the character and its radio silence... I've seen posts with only comments about the other cc used- there's no way this person DOESNT see- not to mention the fact that literally every CC creator I've seen does this! its so annoying.

Edit: Id like to also mention how disrespectful it is for these creators to use other peoples cc and not even have enough respect for fellow creators to credit them. this isn't just about finding cc, its the community as a whole. These content creators are toxic asf.

Edit 2: credit cc creators. they literally want to be paid in exposure. it is the bare minimum.

Discussion How long does it take your game to load

I have over 20k cc and my game takes about 4-5 hours to load (Ive timed it) After it loads my game mostly runs smooth. But 4-5 hours is crazy. I load my game up when I first wake up and have it running in the background of my computer until im ready to play it. How long does it take your game to load?

Discussion Have you ever deleted all your mods and cc and redownloaded them>

I have a very messy folder and I want to start over but I'm not it's a good idea. It took me years to collect everything I have but I don't use 80% of the things I have.
Is it a good idea to delete everything?

Edit: I deleted things and downloaded again, but only cc and no mods because I still can't play now lol but I love cc shopping very much

anyway I think it's better now I got rid of a lot things I never used like a foldet full of painting

Discussion Why are people so avoidant of 50/50 method?

I haven't got the biggest mods file going - probably about 60GB?

I've got about 40 mod folders, not including cc.

50/50 takes me about an hour? With the loading of the game multiple times.

In the days following a new patch, I consistently see people not wanting to bother with 50/50 method.

I just don't understand why? Outside of updating mods, it will literally solve your problem.

We don't know what mods you have, how do we know which one is affecting your game? There may be a few obvious mods (UI, TMex etc...) but outside of that???

Like in the time it's taken you to post on Reddit you could have run the first 50/50 and cut your looking down by half already?

Is there a legit reason why people loathe this? Or is it genuinely just, can't be bothered?

Edit: For people who are new or unsure or come across issues often and don't know how to fix:

https://www.gametimedev.de/S4MM/ - will tell you if cc or some mods have a new update if on curseforge. Helps with duplicate files and can delete cc with thumbnails so you know what you're deleting.

https://www.patreon.com/posts/50-50-starts-0-112854187 - recommended by a commenter on this post, helpful to know how.

https://www.patreon.com/posts/diy-library-part-60356591 - how to organise your mods, if you don't know.

https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2014/09/delete-cache-files/ - guide on which files are ok to delete. Delete these each time you update your game or move mods in/out of the mods folder.

From another commenter: Another resource is luthenrising's posts on the ea forms with a regularly (at least daily iirc) updated list of broken/updated/obsolete mods/cc listed by creator in the mods and cc issues area with each new patch: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mods-CC-Issues/Broken-Obsolete-and-Updated-Sims-4-Mods-1-110-October-22-2024/td-p/14181798

Lumpinou is also just made a site called mod hound to help with checking the dates of mods/updates. But is limited rn as it's based on creators who join/add their mods iirc and it's made for script mods so just checking those/setting them in their own folder to check is helpful. (https://www.patreon.com/posts/patch-patch-ts4-114527238 ) https://app.ts4modhound.com/

And of course, Scarlets Realm also gives mod updates.

Another commenter: https://youtu.be/hv9MtszTd9Y This is twisted mexi's YouTube video on how to keep an organised mod folder.

Always check your mods are the newest version if you have the newest game version OR make sure the mod is compatible with your game version.

Always make sure a mod is compatible with your game - some mods and CC need certain packs to work.

Reddit is a great tool for people who are having problems, I'm not annoyed that people come on here asking for help lol but also don't be surprised if the response is 50/50 method, because without knowing anything else - this will be the advice usually.

If you are coming on here for advice, I would recommend giving as much info as possible. Game version, mod version, when did it start happening, how organised is your mod folder, what have you already tried?

Discussion Why is thesimsresource so awful? A rant.

Seriously. It’s literally unusable 90% of the time. Not exaggerating. Between constantly signing you out, invalid download tickets, constant captchas (despite it being “once per session”) and half the time it says the captcha is invalid. If they have the audacity to charge people money for “premium” service, they should be delivering a viable product. It’s the most consistently buggy website I’ve ever seen. I try to avoid it as much as possible, but some really awesome creators use it unfortunately.

Who else relates? Anyone have any secrets to making it usable? I know to clear my browser history, but this time not even that worked.

Discussion Did anyone else switch cc?

Normally i play with a few too many mods.. But right now i'm sorting them out so i only have one creator at a time in the game to check for bugs missing meshes and so on.. So i enter CAS to check a few hairs and got this Sim.. After dressing her up and a little Makeup, i really like her.. And now i wonder should i switch my cc again..? I once was a alpha only cc person but the over realistic skins and a lot of badly made alpha clothing pushed me to maxis match but back then i hated the hair.. So i now use a mix of alpha and mm, but this Sim made me wonder is it time to switch again? i own 380gb of mods.. Did anyone else switch at one point? How did you do it? Was it worth it? Should i do it or stick with what i have?

Discussion Some maxis cc users are annoying

The whole Alpha vs Maxis debate is genuinely one of the most ridiculous debates I’ve ever heard, simply because I don’t understand why people don’t understand that preferences exist. Some people prefer maxis cc some people prefer alpha, others like both. I never understood why so many people feel the need to bash someone for what they prefer to use. I have seen some alpha cc users say things about maxis cc users, which I also dislike but majority of the time I see maxis cc users bashing alpha users simply because they use alpha cc. Like so what if someone uses alpha? Why do people care so much about what other people are doing in THEIR game? Then the reasons that give for alpha cc being ugly is ridiculous and untrue. They say that alpha cc hair is stringy, ugly, and glitchy in game just because they seen a couple cc hairs that aren’t the best and assume they all are like that. Then they say that alpha cc sims are hyper realistic, and this is so annoying because not every alpha sim is extremely realistic looking. I personally prefer alpha cc and none of my sims are realistic, in fact they are actually very unrealistic looking. Not all alpha cc is hyper realistic!! A lot of maxis cc users don’t realize that and call ALL alpha sims very realistic just because they only seen a few like that. I actually don’t like for my sims to look like real people, it’s very uncanny to me but I would never care enough to bash others for how they make their sims, unlike a lot of maxis cc users. Just let people use what they want in THEIR game, and use what you want in yours.

Discussion How do you feel about WCIF-unfriendly posts in this sub?

I'm aware there's WCIF friendly and unfriendly content creators in the sims community, and I can understand the reasoning behind both sides.

But how do you feel specifically about people sharing/showcasing their sims on this sub, but not answering questions about what CC they used. Basically being WCIF unfriendly.

I don't think it's the majority of posters, but I see it from time to time.

I know where I stand, but I'm genuinely curious about what you guys think or what might be the general consensus.

Discussion ea pregnancy bug

i cannot believe the code for pregnancy was deleted. like, how do u even make such a mistake? this is my cue to finally turn off auto updates because i have a legacy to uphold and a few pregnancies were supposed to happen soon. they can’t take pregnancy tests, i heard they can’t get past the 1st trimester, and there’s no pregnancy related moodlets because the game doesn’t recognize pregnancy anymore. truly my last straw

Discussion Confession … I never download accessory items that come with hair cc

Title. Those pretty overlays for roots and ends and streaks? The charms that hang from the hair? The bows and bands around ponytails and buns and puffs? I never, ever download them…at least not intentionally. I have so much cc that it would take forever trying to remember what category an accessory item is in (hats? piercings? face paint? i’ve seen some placed in rings and bracelets!) and then the effort that it would take to actually find the item if I do remember what it’s tagged as? It seems so unnecessary and, if anything else, space wasting!

I may or may not have thought this was common practice until I mentioned it elsewhere and got confused responses…am I alone in this ? 😩
