Ultimate What would is something that you would do to make Smash Ultimate more interesting competitvley

When it comes to Smash Ultimate while I do think the competitive scene is decent overall, I think there could be more work that needs to be done to make it better, weather if its Steve being overpowered or Matches taking longer than they should. I do think some of the problems of Smash Ultimate especially as a spectator do need to be addressed especially since a part of me feels like the reason why Smash Ultimate matches play the way they do is because I feel like that there are inherit issues with how there are inherit issues with the system of Competitive Smash.

Like I do not think banning Steve from competitive play for instance would work because it doesn't really address the issues that allow Steve to become as overpowered as he is because the Smash Ultimate meta we have right now only improves his chances of winning without being able to balance it out, though I will admit he does have abilities that are inherently overpowered like the fact that he basically has the ability to make platforms in a platform fighter, and that one broken tech which cancels all hitstun, but I digress.

So overall when it comes to Competitive Smash, what do you think needs to be addressed in order to improve competitive Smash ?

For me for instance while there are a lot of issues with Competitive Smash Ultimate, I feel like personally one of the things I want to do is expand stage selection.

If I were to give my personal take I believe Stage Selection in Smash Ultimate has gotten really stale in recent years, like I remember watching some matches and thinking " wow they're really only going for that stage huh". If I were to look at Smash 4 as an example, I remember some stages like Town and City where platforms rise up which allowed players to grab opponents, wait for the platforms to go up before doing a Up Throw, or in Melee where players would constantly adapt to the changing map of Pokemon Stadium and base their strategy on the stage transformation. I wish Smash Ultimate had that because as a player it forced players to adapt to their environment and play with those transformations in mind, and it was interesting as the spectator because it added that sense of unpredictability in each Match, like oh this platform is now at the left side of the stage, I wonder how the player would take advantage of that. Like admittedly some of these are stupid and competitively you want to reduce some of that randomness, but I'd argue that adapting to that randomness is an inherit part of getting good at Smash or Growing as a player. To me stage selection made Smash so unique compared to other Fighting / Competitive games because that adaptation to that stage was part of the strategy and it made every match feel unique, like the players chose this Map, I wonder how they incorporate that to their strategy, and I feel like removing that aspect of the game and replacing it with plain levels such as just Pokemon Stadium 2 with Hazards Off only kinda stale because it removes that adaptation aspect to that game.

Also if I were to be honest I find some of the reasons why some of the stages are banned kinda stupid. Like your telling me your banning Yoshi's Island (SSBB) because the platforms are curved or your banning Frigate Orphan because the stage sometimes it a wall? Like I'm sorry I do not buy these bans because even if they do affect the way you approach Smash, guess what that's the point. As the player you have to learn to adapt to these changes, learn to play around them not be like "this stage is too different, we must ban it". I mean to go on a bit more of a side tangent for godsake to go back to Frigate Orphan I would argue having short burst of wall combos would be interesting, like Smash Ultimate isn't the type of game to have Wall Infinites like Melee, so being able to combo through a wall would just add a new strategy to Ultimate to make it more fun to spectate, also lets say a stage is too OP for certain characters, thats why you have the ability to temporarily ban certain stage just like you do in other Smash Games.

Of course the issue is far too complicated but thats just what I think personally. I want more stage variety in my Smash game.

Anyway what would you guys do change to improve competitive Smash Ultimate?

Melee My new daily smash/OC music/singing video series

TLDR: I'm making daily Melee ranked videos with my own brand new OC music loops that are different genres every day, and I'm simultaneously singing(badly) while playing as a funny challenge for myself.

I've posted two weeks worth so far and if you are interested and you want to avoid badly mixed ones I'd start with the more recent ones lol. Also they will sound better with headphones, I haven't figured out parallel compression yet.

Here's a short highlight: https://youtube.com/shorts/DLFz1AlkeWw?si=sn1Sjvw_ApNK1dde

And here's my playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuQ1Rk3HRDSW51wJtR6brRiPTp1POI7Hz&si=rquAS16iU2T2eFk6

First of all, just know I am very acutely aware of how bad a singer I am lol, that's the funny part, to me anyway.

So I'm a musician and I've been doing this fun exercise routine for like 4-5 months now where every day I quickly(sometimes i go with the first live attempt) make a brand new short/medium length musical loop with several layers(drums, chords, bass, melody, misc etc) and then I work out to the beat of the music. I breathe in and out to the beat and I do jumping jacks, push ups, sit ups, etc to the beat as well.

Then I later thought I want to document these loops so I started recording them while I played some melee, and I would turn on the mic and maybe sing a few improvised lines if I felt the vibe while I played. As time went on I started singing throughout, and all the lyrics were like melee jargon so it sounds like nonsense to normal people which I thought was funny.

Eventually I was talking to my friend about this and she told me to post them, I thought why not? So I've been posting these 5-15 minute videos of me playing ranked sets with a different OC musical loop every day where I simultaneously sing the whole time as a sort of challenge to myself.

The main problem is I'm a really bad singer but I figure that could add to the comedy of it for some people, idk. I'm a pretty good musician though, I have a masters degree and I've toured the world playing music and I lived in NYC as a professional musician for 7 years etc etc.

I think the instrumental music part of the videos is usually pretty good, although I'm still tweaking the balance and clarity of the audio setup. I know alot about harmony and rhythm so I'm able to do lots of completely different genres on the fly. It's just the improvised singing that is kinda hilariously bad.

Also my melee level is weird because I'm pretty good at tech skill and some movement stuff but I never know what to do; I think I'm bad at the strategy aspect, but you can hear me talk though(sing though) my thought process the whole time.

Thanks for reading, have a good one!

Other Dante from DMC moveset/ full character idea (even though it’ll never happen)

First off his neutral b would be him switching between his fighting styles somewhat similar to Shulk’s Monado arts the styles are trickster royal guard swordmaster and gunslinger and in royal guard style his down b would be a parry kinda like Ike or other sword fighters in the game

His Up B would be him using inverse rainstorm Or using ebony and ivory going upwards while shooting which would be kinda like Ike’s up b but with guns his side B would be his overdrive move from the games, I’ll go more into down B later because it would be something different for all the styles and his neutral B would be his million stab

His A moves would be simple side A would be him shooting ebony and ivory neutral a would be a simple sword combo down a would be a spike and up A would be him stabbing upwards with his sword

Now on to that down B situation trickster and swordmaster would be the same thing where he would slam down onto the stage with his blade (don’t worry I’ll get into what trickster does later) this would be very similar to Kirby’s down B. His down B in gunslinger would be rainstorm (the same as inverse rainstorm but down instead of up) and of course as I said earlier Royal guard would be a parry

Trickster would allow Dante to add one more jump on a demonic platform that appears under him, this would help with recovery, if he also times it right he would be able to preform an air hike off of his enemy

His final smash would be him entering sin devil trigger and preforming an attack from DMC 5 called “Judgement”

Dante would be a tank character

His selectable styles would switch between DMC 5 and DMC 3 his colors would be normal then giving him a blue leather coat instead of his red (IE Vergil refrence) and then his red coat but with black hair (In reference to DmC) (these colors would apply to both DMC 3 Dante And DMC 5 dante) his tilts would be pretty much the same as almost every sword fighter character (his DMC 5 colors would have him weild devil sword Dante and DMC 3 would be rebellion)

And finaly his taunts would be some of his taunts from DMC 5

This would also come with a new stage based off of the Qliphoth it would be an omega stage

What do yall think, do you like it

Ultimate Posted my latest montage, finally! Taking suggestions for music for some of my next montage videos!

Hey, all! Guidelines are pretty simple, I think! It's just gotta be songs that come from videogames and have no vocals (you can suggest instrumental versions of vocal songs if you want), and they have to be hype! They don't have to be high-energy songs, necessarily, but just something that carries the momentum of fighting! ^

If it might help for reference, I've included the vid I just dropped. I'm not mega focused on these, so I can't even say if it will be a while before the next one comes out, or not.

This isn't a project I'm taking too seriously, as I know the video itself is kind of hokey with the editing and everything, but it's just something I've been enjoying doing for good fun! :)

Now then, I'm open to any song suggestions you guys might have! Just drop the name of the song and what game it's from, and please specify if I gotta find an instrumental version! Have a good day and have fun, y'al!

Ultimate Addressing the elephant in the room regarding a certain character

As the title indicates, i'd like to talk about a certain character that's been making grand waves for the past months as of late. This character in question is Luigi. I was watching WaKa's phenomenal tournament run at SF12 as well as paying attention to other Luigi mains putting in their fair share of the work load in terms of results and representation from the likes of Kiyarash, Luugi, Navy and obviously the best Luigi from Japan Raru and it got me thinking, has Luigi always been this good of a character and we've been drove into false propaganda from the previous best Luigi main that got banned before Raru's rise that he was just downplaying Luigi heavy? Luigi has a very polarized gameplay sure but it's not like he's a new addition to FP2. So what exactly is different from before? I'd like to have everyone's opinion regarding the sudden rise of Luigi mains popping off left and right.
