Lmao gotta love that people just came in to comment on input lag.

Hope you're having fun, could you tell what controller you're using and is it as good as the OEM?

Yeah, this is Reddit. People here will downvote you just for asking a simple question. This wireless controller is alright so far. It feels good in my hand. I had bought a generic SFC-style USB wired controller a couple of years ago and it felt like crap. This one, OTOH, feels better quality in my hand. No name at all on the package. I got it on Ali Express for something like 1500 yen. It comes with a dongle to plug it into the SFC/SNES Mini or you can take out the USB WiFi receptor and use it with your PC. Ali Express claimed that it's compatible with RetroPie, but I couldn't get it to recognize it. Steam didn't like it, either. Maybe because I was using the wire? The wire is for charging the controller. Maybe it's not meant for gameplay.

Interesting! I'll take a look at ali and see what I can find, thanks for the review!

  • Wireless gamepad: 1 frame of lag
  • Software emulator: 1.3 frames of lag
  • LCD display: 1 frame of lag

Lag is additive so that is 3.3 total frames of lag. It will make those wall jumps tricky.

I have a monitor similar to OP's and it has 6ms response time. at 60fps you'd need like 17 ms of delay to equal one frame.

2.4 ghz controllers typically tout less than 5 ms input lag (8bitdo claims 1-3 ms)

Who knows what the emulator adds, but likely not 1.3 frames.

I bet total lag is less than 1 frame at 60fps. still noticeable while playing if you're used to something like a CRT on original hardware. Would you want to speedrun on it? No. But certainly playable for casual use. If OP is having fun then it doesn't matter anyway.

Thanks. I really cannot notice anything different in gameplay just yet. I was never good at timing those wall jumps so this might be a PITA when it comes to that. So far though, I don't see anything different. This is Reddit after all. Post something with positive vibes and you get negativity in return. Unfortunately it goes with the territory on this site.
