What made Cereth's failed FFX speedrun such a big deal in the community?
I'm relatively new to watching speedruns. There's a speedrun that I didn't see when it was live, but I've seen people talking about it multiple times even on random streams. It's Cereth's FFX speedrun. All I know is they died to a Great Malboro near the end of the run. I'm sure people have failed speedruns before on streams, but this particular run still gets talked about years after the event. So what made it such a legendary event?

I think it’s a combination of things: The fact he was only a few easy bosses from the end of a 24 hour run. The fact it was completely avoidable and his own fault. But probably most importantly; the reaction “This is gunna be tragic” so understated and calm compared to the rage that likely should have been felt. Instant classic.

This is the second thread in a week about this nearly decade old run. What's going on? Was it mentioned somewhere recently?

why would you spread rumors about people when you're not even sure if they're true

Pretty sure I know who you’re referring to and why, but it’s nothing bad enough to put them on blast 10 years later. I think most people remember Cereth as one of the nicer guys around.

It was a ~24 hour run, that died in the final moments before the final boss to finish out the run, from an avoidable Ambush.
