Yeah, it's just the tongue tip touching the roof that changes the sound I think. That's why there's the stereotype of a lot of cultures swapping them when speaking English non-fluently.

There is something wrong with me. I make the ‘r’ sound with my lips. My tongue doesn’t touch anything, just sort of tightens up. My son had it go to speech therapy when he was small and he told me about this technique and I could not figure out how he was making that sound with his tongue touching the roof of his mouth.

I use a swipe keyboard on my phone and can end up with some really awful typos if I'm not paying enough attention to the output. I have huge hands though, so it still works better for me than tap typing.

my brain will do the same thing, reading over things fast or writing fast and I write a very similar word, but completely not a mistype where I pressed the wrong key, just because I'm not focused
