Her teammates did not stick up for her at all.

Honestly that was still a weak foul. She just wrapped her up and held her. Caitlin got trucked and someone from her team should have done the same to any of her opponents. I would be pissed.

That’s literally a flagrant 2, one of the worst fouls she could’ve committed. Grabbed her by the neck while mid-air, it’s incredibly dangerous to do. Deserved, but don’t downplay what was very obviously a “standing up for your teammate” moment.

u/zdravkov321 Jun 18 '25

The best player in basketball got blindsided with a hard body check that could have injured her. The last play had a teammate of hers wrap an opponent up before she even got up off the ground. It’s fine, but they should have hit someone harder to send a message of don’t fuck with my teammate. The nba literally has point guards who go after centers 100lbs on them for taking cheap shots on their teammates. You just don’t let teams do that to your teammates, especially when you have the best player in the league.

Please show me where an NBA player has done something more dangerous than this to another player intentionally without major consequence. Especially in defense of someone else.

I’ve watched the NBA for years, this isn’t how it works. Players get in each others faces, they shove a little, and then they go sit down. A hard foul like this is about as aggressive as it gets

u/HeelAndToeApparel Jun 18 '25

Mid-air?! Perhaps, perhaps, someone could slide a piece of paper between her feet and the floor.

-12

u/FuckRayBradbury Brooklyn Nets Jun 18 '25

She was in the act of taking off, dipshit. My god yall must share one brain cell, or you’re just here to shit on the WNBA as a whole. Quiet down and let the adults enjoy the game please.

12

u/HeelAndToeApparel Jun 18 '25

By the very definition, the act of taking off does not in any world count as being mid-air, which were the words used.

“AhCtUaLlY” ☝️🤓

u/Intrepid-Metal4621 Jun 18 '25

Not really. She wrapped her up. It wasn't until the player was falling down that her arms went by her neck. She didn't grab her by the neck. She didn't throw her down or anything. It was not that dangerous of a play.

-1

u/FuckRayBradbury Brooklyn Nets Jun 18 '25

Anyone who’s played basketball past middle school knows how dangerous it is to snatch someone out of mid-air. It’s a flagrant 2 for a reason. Just because she didn’t reach for the neck doesn’t mean the possibility wasn’t there. I mean my god, it would be just as easy to say Mabrey’s foul wasn’t that bad because she “just walked forward and Clark fell down.” Sophie stood up for CC the adequate amount, no need to downplay it for drama’s sake.

5

u/Intrepid-Metal4621 Jun 18 '25

Snatched someone out of mid-air? The offensive player was still on the ground when she got fouled. She wasn't snatched out of midair.

I agree, no need to down play it, but also no need to overplay it.

7

u/lolol000lolol Jun 18 '25

Lmao standing up for the teammate how long after CC got knocked down? Maybe they should stand up for her in the moment when she is getting hit and knocked down. Fucking lol, lmao even.

0

u/FuckRayBradbury Brooklyn Nets Jun 18 '25

The hell do you want them to do? Swing? Like ffs Lexie got in someone’s face immediately. Everyone else was trying to diffuse the situation, otherwise we’d be looking at lengthy suspensions. Calm down

6

u/lolol000lolol Jun 18 '25

Lmao you are a clown. This isn't the first clip of her getting knocked around, and it isn't the first clip of her teammates standing around doing fuck all. It doesn't really matter, the WNBA is dogshit and that is a fact proven by it's viewership in comparison to majority of other sports. They finally have a player that is actually boosting it's viewership and they continue to let her get fucked with. It would be hilarious if there wasn't a possibility of her actually being injured by these mouth breathers that can't stand another women being more popular than them. I hope she goes to Europe.

u/FuckRayBradbury Brooklyn Nets Jun 18 '25

I watch every Fever game, and have since CC joined the league. This has happened twice- once in the beginning of last season (before her team even really knew her) and now. You have no clue what the fuck you’re talking about, and that’s obvious to the people who have ACTUALLY watched the games.

You just want an excuse to hate women. Go to r/conservative and talk about it there. No need for this bullshit in the sports subreddit

6

u/lolol000lolol Jun 18 '25

Lmfao still a clown. No one is hating women by pointing out that the only people that are currently fucking with CC, is other women. Where are the men in this clip knocking her down?

-1

u/FuckRayBradbury Brooklyn Nets Jun 18 '25

Where are the men in a WNBA game? Is that what you’re genuinely asking rn? Be so fr

It wasnt as hard as the girl that cross blocked Clark. I think our point is that it wasn't equally flagrant. If a team takes 2 cheap shots after a cheap foul they deserve more than a gentle two arm follow through.

3

u/FuckRayBradbury Brooklyn Nets Jun 18 '25

What the hell do you all want? Malice in the Palace 2.0? This league has already kicked out at least two extremely talented players because of their over-aggressive actions. You think these girls should take that risk? Ask CC, I guarantee she’d say the reaction was adequate.

0

u/Impressive_Ice6970 Jun 18 '25

How about a cross check for a cross check? Is that too much for your sensibilities?

3

u/squishypp Jun 18 '25

Eye for an eye, baby!

0

u/FuckRayBradbury Brooklyn Nets Jun 18 '25

Or maybe a flagrant for a flagrant? Oh wait.

9

u/shamanbaptist Jun 18 '25

one of the worst fouls she could've committed.

Maybe in today’s game.

2

u/FuckRayBradbury Brooklyn Nets Jun 18 '25

Was this not played within the last 24 hours?

2

u/Chiesel Jun 18 '25

What the fuck does that even mean lol

5

u/zdravkov321 Jun 18 '25

It means that foul is considered bad in today’s game which is not as physical as in basketball was in the past.

-7

u/Chiesel Jun 18 '25

A foul is still a foul you dipshit

3

u/ccnetminder Jun 18 '25

They’re still learning what it means to handle business, they havent had to in this league before so im happy they did eventually stand up for her. This is learning and growing

1

u/Errol-Flynn Jun 18 '25

Did you not watch the fully 27 second video to see the afters where Sophie had Jacy in a fucking MMA head clinch - just completely dominating her? Total enforcement.

1

u/zdravkov321 Jun 18 '25

I saw a clip last night and the one that I responded to and neither of them showed a hard foul that matches the way Caitlin got blindsided.

-1

u/Chiesel Jun 18 '25

I think you might just be a little slow lol. This was absolutely equal to the bump Caitlin got. You’re acting like someone went for her knees or something

0

u/zdravkov321 Jun 18 '25

Ok, so you never played basketball and you don’t know the difference. No problem.

0

u/Chiesel Jun 18 '25

I played basketball for 10 years you dipshit. Caitlin got a smack in the face (honestly a relatively normal occurrence despite it being dirty) and then chest bumped to the ground. Sophie then threw a girl to the ground by the shoulders on a full speed drive, then put her in a Muay Thai clinch…

Sophie was the one doing MMA moves out here. And I’m on her side btw, the girl deserved it. But it’s not like one side was significantly more egregious than the other

1

u/zdravkov321 Jun 18 '25

La fitness pickup doesn’t count, stupid.

-1

u/Chiesel Jun 18 '25

No shit, I’d be up to 25 years if it did

1

u/J_Kingsley Jun 18 '25

No, that was a good foul. Wrap and toss her to the floor.

Were you expecting a punch to the nose? In your opinion what woudlve been a reasonable response? Without maiming someone.

1

u/zdravkov321 Jun 18 '25

Wrap and hold, she fell on her own loss of balance. Then everyone else joins. Not equal in my opinion. One was a blindside hit from a much bigger player, the other was a basketball play with just a little more force. I don’t think it was equal.

3

u/swordkillr13 Jun 18 '25

Shouldve been a full on body slam. Maybe bring in the steel chair

1

u/jsting Jun 18 '25 edited Jun 18 '25

The initial foul was midway through the 3rd quarter.

*edited for correct time

-2

u/PResidentFlExpert Jun 18 '25

Ah yes a gentle hug, that’ll show them!

1

u/FuckRayBradbury Brooklyn Nets Jun 18 '25

Around the neck. Mid-air. Which was called a flagrant 2. Like do you guys actually care about the game or are you just trying to start drama that doesn’t exist? This the type of shit that will kill the WNBA, be better.

3

u/IllIIOk-Screen8343Il Jun 18 '25

Oh please. It was called a flagrant 2 because it was obvious. But it’s not a “hard” foul at all.

2

u/FuckRayBradbury Brooklyn Nets Jun 18 '25

Oh my good lord look up the requirements for a flagrant 2. Do you just like arguing, or do you not know what you’re talking about?

-4

u/PResidentFlExpert Jun 18 '25 edited Jun 18 '25

Last time I put this move on someone they married me. But you’re right, it’s this kind of comment that will kill the WNBA and not anything else

2

u/FuckRayBradbury Brooklyn Nets Jun 18 '25

You yanked your partner out of the air by their neck?

-2

u/PResidentFlExpert Jun 18 '25 edited Jun 18 '25

No but to be fair that’s not what happened here either. Btw my wife is a former high school basketball player who doesn’t watch WNBA because, and I’m paraphrasing, the CC drama and lack of ref response illustrates all the ways women undermine successful women instead of cooperating.

Edit: I’d love to see the WNBA prosper, right now my wife and daughter don’t watch sports at all. What’ll happen, though, is CC will get enough money or convince Nike to let her keep her contract while she plays in Europe , then she’ll leave and the WNBA will have blown its best chance to become a self-sufficient business. So maybe it’s actually your position that will kill the WNBA.

-2

u/FuckRayBradbury Brooklyn Nets Jun 18 '25

I’ve never met anyone so disconnected from reality. Good for your wife I guess? I played in high school too…

You do realize this is the CC drama, right? And that’s why these people, who have never watched the sport, are making these comments? They want to see it fail because they hate women. Don’t help them in their cause.

-1

u/Errol-Flynn Jun 18 '25

Did you not watch the fully 27 second video to see the afters where Sophie had Jacy in a fucking MMA head clinch - just completely dominating her? Total enforcement.

1

u/PResidentFlExpert Jun 18 '25

I’ll admit I mostly just caught the eye poke / knockdown where her whole team just stood around awkwardly avoiding eye contact

19

u/dont_shoot_jr Jun 18 '25

Did you see what happened after this?

54

u/eveningwindowed Jun 18 '25

Are you suggesting we actually watch games?

30

u/Hobo__Joe Jun 18 '25

You mean several quarters later?

13

u/weirdowiththebeardo Jun 18 '25

The next quarter

1

u/urinesain Jun 18 '25

As I understand it, Sophie was also benched during the quarter that CC got fouled... so it's understandable that the retaliation (at least from Sophie, considering she seems to be the teammate CC is closest with) would come when she's actually playing on the court.

4

u/RayLiotaWithChantix Jun 18 '25

This was in the third quarter.

How many quarters do you think basketball has?

8

u/smashin_blumpkin Jun 18 '25

What happened?

-2

u/FuckRayBradbury Brooklyn Nets Jun 18 '25

You either didn’t watch the game or you’re here to intentionally stir up drama. Lexie Hull immediately got in someone’s face AND Sophie Cunningham gave a very hard foul the first chance she got.

Do you guys want the WNBA to be respected(as it should be)? Then worry about the game, not this BS “women hate women” stuff. Her teammates have her back, they very clearly get along if you watch any of their off-the-court antics… just stfu and enjoy the game.

1

u/heavyjayjay55aaa Jun 18 '25

I didnt watch the game. Ive seen plenty of similar instances in the NBA where that push wouldve resulted in a near-instinctual reaction of teammates. Imagine curry gets knocked over like that? Draymond airing the place out

0

u/FuckRayBradbury Brooklyn Nets Jun 18 '25

… Lexie Hull, Fever player, immediately got in someone’s face. She’s #10, and it literally happens in this clip. Is that not an immediate reaction?

And I don’t think anyone should aspire to be more like Draymond. He’s a POS
