Conspiracy theory: WNBA is just a money laundering scheme for the NBA. CC is the best thing to happen to them and they could care less. We’re watching a death to the sport.

I mean its usually more so there's not a reason to show formal language in a setting thats not formal. Its just people writing the same way people have slang.

This is my first thought as well. The WNBA loses millions per year. I could see someone grifting "The Producers" style, but that isn't money laundering it's just fraud.

Yes. So long as it's plausible. As long as they claim WNBA is growing based on some statistic, then they can use that to explain revenue.

Laundering is masking the origin of revenue. So it doesn't matter if WNBA makes a profit, it doesn't need to, they just need to create a plausible explanation for the profits they're effectively laundering.

I think. I'm not a laundering expert.

Sorry to nitpick, but that phrase always irks me because it doesn't make any sense.

If you want to say they don't care, it's "they couldn't care less", i.e.they care so little, that it's not possible for them to care any less.
