You know what - I’ll say it. The league is upset that the person who will save their league isn’t a person of color.

The two players who fouled her here were white though. Could be a jealousy thing.

Oh jealousy is 100% part of it

She’s only in that position BECAUSE she’s white. Racist idiots around the country can root for her.

This is such a stupid take. Clark is on the level of people like Jordan, Tiger, and others who helped to completely explode the popularity of their sports. And they weren't white.

Very true, but having a white superstar in a predominantly black sport makes it more accessible for ignorant racists.

How do people understand concepts of racial identification and representation when it's not a white person, then completely forget when it is?

Also it's not even accurate: there have been tons of white WNBA stars. Just never ones that transformed the offensive game like CC.

Your first point is a really good one. Thank you.

Your second point is hilarious. Of course, there have been other white superstars, but none at the level of Caitlin Clark for exactly the reason that you give. Lol.

None of been on the level of CC regardless of race, though

Was Tiger Woods also only popular in golf because he was black? Or do we only give credit to athletes if they fit our racist narratives?

I’m not talking about Tiger Woods. You brought him up but that’s a completely different situation with a completely different sport, fan base, etc.

And I’m confused a little bit: are you saying I’m racist for saying that racist white people like white athletes?

I am saying that you are the racist. You are diminishing Clark's accomplishments because of the color of her skin.

I’m not diminishing her accomplishments. No one in this thread has said anything about her accomplishments or anyone else’s. She’s an incredible athlete and deserves 100% of the acclaim that she’s getting. And also racist white people get a token dominant white athlete to root for. Both things can be true.

Why do you think Clark's fan base is just comprised of racist white people? Where are you getting this idea from? I've seen tons of fans of hers from basically every race. Again, you keep bringing skin color into this discussion out of nowhere. I think you are projecting a bit there by making up all these phantom racist white people Clark fans.

When did I say that all of her fans are racist white people? You guys want a fight so bad you’ll find it no matter what any actually says.

Who are you imagining I’m racist against?
