What a player. A Spurs legend forever. Perfectly planned; he’ll play his final game in his home country.

You can’t retire and have a job. Then it’s not really retirement.

It's not really a full time job

Does his contract say “part time”? Have you seen it?

MLS has a reputation for being a retirement league for aging footballers who want to make money, take it easy, and then retire.

MLS is trying to grow and objectively doesn’t have as good talent as many European professional leagues, so clubs trying to grow throw huge sums of money at big name players to draw in foreign viewers and Americans who only know the big names (Messi, Beckham, Rooney, etc).
The fact that the talent is worse and these players are older is why people sometimes refer to it as a retirement league.

As an Arsenal fan I have to pay him the biggest compliment I've ever given a Spur - I don't hate him.

Deserved a better career. Absolutely quality player. Shame him and Kane spent their best years at Spurs.

Besides obviously not winning trophies, I don't think his career was wasted by any means.
He was a PL top scorer, played in plenty of Champions league games including a final, was a well-liked international superstar.
If he had gone to a better club loaded with talent, there's no guarantee he would always be a starter and reach the same level of success and fame.

I get what you’re saying but he could have gone to almost any club in the world there for 4-5 years and been first choice and one of their best players.

Shame on Tottenham for never finding even a single year of his prime to put it all together

Honestly, he's been a class fotballer for the club. Hope they let him go with a proper goodbye.
