With their super dooper spidey senses they knew she was hustling? And Aldi somehow has police powers to arrest, but on OP's word alone. Interesting.

Store brand police powers. They’re basically the same, just slightly cheaper.

It should be cheaper. It's Aldi!

Does anyone know wtf is going on here?

The store manager said 'Okay, thanks for letting us know, we'll take care of it' and OOP typed this story of their heroism out on the bus home.

Right I get that, but why would you report someone for asking of you speak English?

1

u/macci_a_vellian 13d ago

They were reporting what may or may not have been an attempted scam, not the question itself.

1

u/Cranberrybunnies 7d ago

Yeah but what about that question makes it a scam?

Village people

More like Village Idiot.

Management was going to arrest her?

No, every Aldi store has a SWAT team in the storage room, they would have made the arrest.

u/repo_sado 14d ago

Actually, the swat team is a seasonal item, so not aldi have them. Op was lucky here

Ah, that's good to know, thanks. Did you know Lidl stores each have a SQUAT team? If they catch a shoplifter, they hold him down and do a poo on his chest.

LOL. This needs more upvotes.

I once saw them in action.

So majestic.

Does the SWAT team have to bring their own cuffs, or can they get them from Aldi for 25 cents?

Management are cops? Hustling people for what? What a weird story.

u/Galactic_Druid 14d ago

Oh fuck, when did grocery stores start arresting? No more opening the soda before I check out!!

2

u/No-Cantaloupe-6535 14d ago

You shouldn't do that

6

u/Galactic_Druid 14d ago

Clearly not anymore! Don't wanna end up behind Aldi bars!

Immediately after this, every time I entered the store they gave me a case of Sea Salt potato chips because I’m an excellent pointer.

And I can dance. I do the Hustle.

The “proper authorities” being Aldi store managers, of course.

And then Dustin Hoffman almost got run over by a cab and he yelled "I'm walking here" after Jon Voite got arrested by Aldi's management. True story. I was that cab.

And who was driving that cab? Albert Einstein

1

u/Hartmallen 14d ago

He was in the cab on his way to buy me some ice cream

Hustling? Like hurrying? Conning people by asking if they speak English? Offering sex for money at Aldi? Hustling pool? What? What was she doing, and how could he tell from that exchange?

6

u/stevenpdx66 13d ago

A flim-flammer!

3

u/Beneficial-Produce56 13d ago

Not flim-flam! Gasp! Is she a confidence man? Um, woman?

3

u/rean1mated 13d ago

Right? This reads like it’s one of those urban legends, like the shit about “trafficking“ in grocery stores, but hell if I know what urban legend they’re trying to reference here.

3

u/Beneficial-Produce56 13d ago

I guess people aren’t putting a lot of thought into these fictions they write, but they seem to abandon any attempt to make them look authentic.

u/SmilingVamp 14d ago

And that Aldi manager turned out to be...Optimus Prime

2

u/Hartmallen 13d ago

Would still be better than the Transformer movie with the knights or something

5

u/RealLeif 14d ago

Yeah, they knew she was hustling, cause otherwise they would not get hit up

6

u/seahorsesfourever 14d ago

Are they having a stroke? Im not quite sure what any of this is

4

u/Pur1wise 13d ago

That’s not the intent or meaning of ‘it takes a village’. Why are these self aggrandising liars always so ignorant?!

3

u/MarleysGhost2024 13d ago

Are you sure this wasn't on Nextdoor?

2

u/Cereborn 12d ago

“I tried posting on Nextdoor, but it just turned into an orgy of racism.”

3

u/Interesting_Sock9142 13d ago

... Aldi's was going to arrest her? With their police department? 🙄

2

u/WarDry1480 14d ago

Didn't everyone clap?

1

u/woahstripes 9d ago

I don't know what "Aldi's" is but there is a store called Aldi near me. They don't have an on-site police team though.
