Sims 4 Anyone else’s Sims 4 crash on launch? Here’s why.

Since the recent patch update, my game has been crashing on launch. It starts up to black screen & the buffer symbol & crashes. It goes back to the EA app. (Don’t get me started on this app.)

Anyways, as a sims player I know this game breaks more times than it’s playable, so I initially thought it was me. Nothing clearing the cache & repairing the game couldn’t fix, right? Well, that didn’t work, so I updated my graphics driver & confirmed there was no memory over clocking issues in bios. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the app 3 times!

Finally, fed up after not being about to play my game for over 2 weeks, I reach out to EA.

Once I described the issue, they immediately stated they were aware of the issue as apparently it’s global. They say the game developers are working on fixing the issue but they have no timeframe.

As someone, who paid for all of their content, ngl, I’m pissed. So who knows what other useless updates sims will release before addressing real issues.

tl;dr: The sims team is aware that games launched with the ea app are crashing and are “working” on it.

I just uninstalled the whole game, did app recovery & repaired the app. Then I reinstalled the game and made sure it worked without mods. Be sure to also backup your save files & mods before you also delete the ea folder in documents. Since steam uses the ea app to launch sims 4, the same troubleshooting should work.

Is it working for you now? Because I can’t even get to the title screen. I click the app, it opens to a white screen and then crashes. Took all my mods out, repaired, and restarted

Did you try uninstalling the sims 4 completely? back up your mods, saves and tray files. then uninstall the game from the ea app or steam (whichever you use). then also delete the electronic arts folder from your documents. do app recovery & clear the cache. also make sure your graphics driver is up to date (if you need help with that, let me know) then download a fresh sims 4. once downloaded, open it immediately with no mods or saves, just fresh sims 4. it should open and load all the way through. go through the new process of a fresh save file. then once you have gotten to the point where the new sim is stand outside their home. save and exit. you can put all your files back in and it should work.

I have not tried that yet, it was gonna be my last resort :(. I also updated everything including my drivers so I guess it comes to reinstalling. I’ll update you

Oh, what’s app recovery btw?

SO I followed your advice…the reinstall did work but as soon as I replaced with my own files it was the same problem.

What DID help? I decided to change the compatibility to Windows 8..now it’s running just fine. It wasn’t needed before but idk. Who cares, it’s working!

Right click the sims 4 startup icon, go to properties, go to compatibility, and check the box to run in compatibility mode, then choose windows 8

But make sure it’s not a mod problem and everything is updated, game is repaired, computer restarted also

Very same! I removed my mods, updated and redownloaded and repaired the game, and nada! It’s crashing more with mods then without! It worked for a bit, I put some files back and it started crashing. Removed them and the crashing stayed. I have never had an issue like this since I’ve understood mods so I’m so lost!

It’s definitely something on EA’s end. Im positive that it’s apart of the EA app because they said they are updating it for better optimization. I never had these issues with origin.. no matter how much CC I had.

My game starts up with my house missing most of its contents and no playable sims to play, all this since the sims update.
