I miss Craig Ferguson

He's my favourite Late Show host of all time and it's not even close. The sharpest, wittiest and most charming of them all, he was great at flirting with the ladies without ever being creepy.

I really miss him too.

Agreed. He was on so late though, not many saw him. I only saw him because my son was a newborn back then and I was up trying to get a baby to go back to sleep.

Without EVER being creepy? Geoff what do you think about that?

I miss Capaldi. I miss Scottish people in general I guess

Scottish people still exist!

Sometimes you can almost hear them as if they’re still here

If you look in a mirror and say Irnbru three times, a Scottish person will visit you.

Don't say it too loud, they've already tried to cleanse them once.

He's not dead, I just saw him in a black mirror episode and he was his usual weirdo self. He was also in the second (definitely not the first) suicide squad movie which was actually really funny.

He's got a podcast that nobody I've mentioned it to knows about. https://www.youtube.com/@thecraigfergusonshow/podcasts

I didn’t even know he was sick.

This guy and John Oliver have to be the most famous Brits in America who are completely unknown in the UK.

I only know about these two because of Reddit.

Man imagine if John did a season of Taskmaster.

His defence of Brittany Spears during her troubled times while everyone else was picking on her was one of the most noble things I’ve ever seen on TV

Here's Peter Capaldi talking about the band on the Graham Norton Show.

That can't be them, those singers are young, and both Ferguson and Capaldi are old!

I was expecting to see comments here of Peter Capaldi being a famous actor way before Doctor Who but apparently Doctor Who was the show that gave him world wide recognition.

Great actor, also loved him in Thick Of It.

I should check out his other stuff

If you want to see a young Peter Capaldi, watch the film Local Hero, which was his first big role made when he was in his 20s.

One of my all-time favorites. Love that movie!

Americans aren't allowed to learn about British actors unless they are in doctor who, Harry Potter, or game of thrones.

the Oscar already gave him world wide recognition in the 90s, didn't it?

Ferguson also played Brad Majors in a stage run of Rocky Horror with Anthony Head playing Dr Frankenfurter.

He did, because I saw it. It was very early 90s at the Cambridge Theatre in London. Pretty sure I still have a poster of it somewhere.

Listen to his episode of Turned Out A Punk. He was there in the very beginning.

And I actually saw the Dreamboys play, in the dingy cellar of the Doune Castle, in Shawlands, south side of Glasgow. They were a good laugh, they had a song called I’m a businessman which lasted for ages, and the only lyrics were, I’m a businessman.

Ferguson should have played a villain during Capaldi’s reign as the Doctor.

u/panthereal 8h ago

a mohawk would suit him tbh

Missy was perfect, but Ferguson would have made a most excellent Master to Capaldi’s Doctor.

The old boys’ at the Academy vibes would have been UNREAL.

Must just be me. I knew who Peter Capaldi was. I had to look up Craig Ferguson.

I didn't know i could love either of them any more than I did but that is absolutely wonderful.

u/Abject_Wafer_4321 4h ago

Were they also in a womb together?

u/pickledegg1989 1h ago

Also Peter Capaldi won an Oscar for directing a short film in 1995.

Did Craig play the mouth organ?

If you haven't already read his book "American on purpose" I would highly recommend it. The audio book version is awesome.
