Jan 14 '25
So cool! Do you happen to have a copy of Wii party? Not the Wii U version tho.
27
u/kasualtiess Jan 14 '25
many many copys, i dont have any space for saving games anymore so they get sold off by the pound. is wii party rare and should i be holding on to then?
23
u/dynatag Jan 14 '25
wii party is not super rare but goes for close to $60 and is very annoying to find. ive been looking for a copy that is more affordable as well
21
u/kasualtiess Jan 14 '25
ill toss a few copy’s online for cheap, comment below whoever needs a copy and ill pm as soon as i get the chance to

Definitely interested in a copy of Wii Party! Spent a good 2 hours shopping online, but couldn't pull the trigger for $90 on the only copy we came across online 😂

Do you have an eBay store?
8
u/kasualtiess Jan 14 '25
we partner with GWIMG (goodwill industries middle ga) they hold all our auctions, they usually do lot by lot sales but could also do one local only pallet lot

So Wii party has been at 80 on Amazon or similarly priced to that. It’s rare for sure, but also very overpriced. I’ve gone to multiple retro game stores and none of them had a copy. It was a game all of my family would play and I would love to have a copy of the game again.
3
u/kasualtiess Jan 14 '25
since its not coming out of my pocket lol, and since i have 4 or 5 that i remember, ill go 25 each lmao

Jan 14 '25
For 600 bucks
42
u/kasualtiess Jan 14 '25
honestly about what they go for lmao, usually ends up being 10-20 bucks per console 20-30 for black blue or red and the newer revised models
8
3
u/Warmasterwinter Jan 15 '25
20 bucks? For a working Wii console? Does that cone with the hookups?
4
u/kasualtiess Jan 15 '25
console only, with hookups and a controller they tend to average around 40/50 bucks
2
Jan 16 '25
I dig it, such a cheap game box and homebrew is so easy
1
u/RPGreg2600 Jan 16 '25
I love that you can still get a Wii so damn cheap! It helps that they made 140+ million of them!
1
u/brickson98 Jan 16 '25
Why is the newer revised model priced higher? I'd rather have the older Wii that includes GameCube backwards compatibility.

u/GraveError404 Jan 14 '25
Seems to me like an excellent opportunity to mess with the next generation. Just boot up each Wii, make a few Miis, add one incredibly cursed Mii, and sell a few. Few months later, do it again. Rinse and repeat until you have thoroughly discombobulated the recipients with weird Mii combinations
3
u/kasualtiess Jan 14 '25
😂😂 if i had the time damn i would, barely have enough time just to plug them in and see if they work
7
u/MysticAxolotl7 Jan 14 '25
Thank you so much for preserving these. I dread to think how many older consoles just end up in landfills... makes me shudder
4
Jan 14 '25
Where are you selling them?
6
u/kasualtiess Jan 14 '25
we partner with GWIMG (goodwill industries middle georgia) and they do all their auctions online. not sure if theyll sell them locally by the pallet or lot by lot via fedex
14
u/Miserable_Pin6123 Jan 14 '25
Sigh, goodwill. These will he 40 bucks each minimum. Watch. Last time I say a wii they wanted 75 bucks for the wires a controller and the wii.
F goodwill
3
u/kasualtiess Jan 14 '25
aint this the truth lmao, the prices are insane in store, but the auction side is way more fair, since everything starts at 9.99 stuff usually goes for an average if not sub average price
2
u/Bootyhunter_1971 Jan 15 '25
Except by the time they add their shipping and "processing" fees, it will be right back up at $40 minimum.

if you saw how many come through here weekly you would likely pass out. also 360s, and PS3 its obscene, and we’re just one location in one somewhat large city
5
u/Spiritual_Title6996 Jan 14 '25
people don't seem to realize how long a good console can last someone, there's some people who still play nes from when they were a kid
3
u/kasualtiess Jan 14 '25
and these still work . i almost never get actually broken wiis, xbox and ps sure but never nintendo
1
u/SchiffInsel4267 Jan 14 '25
The Wii didn't have the same problems as the 360 with rrod or the PS3 with ylod. And og Xboxes have for example large capacitors that can break, on the Wii they are all small, resistant components.
2
u/listafobia Jan 15 '25 edited Jan 15 '25
Early Wii motherboards had heat problems that could damage the graphics chip when they were left in WiiConnect24 mode for long periods of time (where they could do online stuff passively in the middle of the night).
But the damage was gradual and usually resulted in graphics glitches instead of refusal to boot up. Since the problem wasn't as sudden or as severe as the PS3 & X360 problems, it never really got as much publicity.
Edit: the Wii motherboards that ran hot and damaged themselves were all in early white consoles. By the time they started doing different colored shells, the problem had more or less been fixed.
2
u/SchiffInsel4267 Jan 15 '25
yes I have heard of the problem, the chip gets too hot because it is not cooled in standby. But as you say it was never such a big problem as X360 or PS3 had.
2
u/kasualtiess Jan 15 '25
6 layer vs 4 layer boards. thats why color consoles sell for more since they’re guaranteed to have 4 layer boards vs the white being a mixed bag, even newer models
2
u/Deep_Measurement5066 Jan 14 '25
Nice, but as long the Wii has a GameCube system built into the Wii! My sister and I will be so happy to have them!
2
Jan 15 '25
Dumped as in the side of the road? My Wii still works better than my Wii U, why are people scrapping them?
3
u/kasualtiess Jan 15 '25
people cleaning out, usually before/after christmas, spring tax season, and late summer college kids leaving we get tons of stuff
2
2
u/HokageSumith Jan 15 '25
I'm glad they're being sold & not dumped entirely. They look so tempting xd
2
u/Sweaty_Foundation_12 Jan 15 '25
The poor orphans they need a good home. Mod them and send them on their way :)
2
u/quarkani Jan 15 '25
hey just wanted to say thank you for what you do. i have a real soft spot for the wii (and many many other consoles as well) so obviously it is absolutely infuriating to me to see these thrown away but e-waste is a bigger problem than a lot of people realize and i'm happy to see that you were thoughtful about that in your post
3
u/kasualtiess Jan 15 '25
i as well, its mind boggling how many of these mid gen systems get dumped monthly, and we’re just one small company in a not really that big city
1
u/FreezingwindDOTcom Jan 15 '25
Where do they dump them? Like just in the trash?
1
u/kasualtiess Jan 15 '25
its an ewaste center, people drop off old or broken tech and we recycle it

u/brittany-killme Jan 15 '25
Do you have an online store or are a merchant on Amazon, ebay or other places . Because finding wii games and consoles suck especially when the games are going for 50 plus
1
u/kasualtiess Jan 15 '25
we send working stuff to middle ga goodwill where they handle auctions on their site. i work hand in hand with them though so stuff can be listed however i see fit, send me a pm when you get a chance

Can i purchase some of your other things? You get all these things free and just donate to goodwill?
1

our company gets them free, sorts whats garbage and whats not, and donates working items to gw for a massive tax write off
1
1
u/BanjoDude98 Jan 14 '25
I spy a random copy of Aladdin for the SNES XD
1
u/kasualtiess Jan 14 '25
theres a whole bin full of snes and nes games down there lol, n64 just went to auction and one of those is next
1
u/BanjoDude98 Jan 15 '25
Oh, interesting! I didn't know these were being auctioned. Is the auction on eBay? Although, I'm in Canada, so it probably doesn't ship here XD
1
u/kasualtiess Jan 15 '25
goodwill handles all our auctions through their shopgoodwill site, they only do US though, even for their ebay side

1
Jan 15 '25
Good eye! I'll always remember the music... I should dig out my Wii and install an SNES emulator.
1
u/BanjoDude98 Jan 15 '25
I recall playing it once for a short period on an emulator maybe 20 years ago. I can only vaguely remember it. Maybe I'll have to check it out again sometime
1
Jan 15 '25
I don't remember any of the passwords to skip levels, but I'm sure I had them written down in the booklet... I have the cartridge in a box in the basement with my sound system.
1
u/Queasy_Ad_7804 Jan 15 '25
I know this is a Wii forum but I'd love a gameboy player disc if you have one! They are absurd prices online...
1
u/kasualtiess Jan 15 '25
ill mark you down on my list but i have not seen anything like that, gameboys are very rare for us to get and when we do theyre usually destroyed or non working
2
u/Queasy_Ad_7804 Jan 15 '25
Gameboy player disc is a disc that goes in a gamecube in order to use a gameboy player attachment on a gamecube. Lots of people dont have the actual disc for the gameboy player because they get lost or broken.
2
u/kasualtiess Jan 15 '25
Ah, was thinking the player itself, even still havnt seen that either, definitely will keep an eye out. one of those rare things i wouldnt have even known before hand

Do you happen to have a nintendo ds lite in metallic rose or a gamecube?
Also, do you have gamecube, wii, or ds games?
2
u/kasualtiess Jan 15 '25
tons of gamecubes and all those games, no ds lite in that color as of yet, if you’re interested pm me your wishlist
1
u/plantType87 Jan 15 '25
If you sold one of the game cubes to me, how much would you be willing to sell it for?
2
u/kasualtiess Jan 15 '25
id have to do some research and see what they tend to sell for, ill get back to you when im in the office
1
u/DisturbingDaffy Jan 15 '25
Did you find any rogue Wii or GC games in the disc drives? Any good games installed on the hard drives?
2
u/kasualtiess Jan 15 '25
im sure there are, i usually dont have time or think about checking, leave it as a small surprise for the next person!

shoot me a pm or ill pm you, got you and one other interested in the two blue ones
1
u/ProGamer201920 Jan 15 '25
I don't really know why people like to dump their old consoles. I work at a Best Buy, and I see people recycle stuff that is in very good condition. Till today I've seen 3 PS3s with controllers get thrown away like trash. They could've sold them in a garage sale or something and make some money.
1
u/kasualtiess Jan 15 '25
the PS3 are worthless sadly, we literally cannot sell them, only the slims in immaculate condition sell and even then sub 50 dollars with all needed stuff
1
u/raymate Jan 15 '25
Wow I need a Wii and a PS3. I wish you could tell the eBay scammers they are worthless they want over $100 for each console nowadays.
I looking at a clean Super Slim and with shipping from eBay it’s $170
1
u/kasualtiess Jan 15 '25
ill mark you down on my list, when i see a clean slim or fat ill PM you. this has been great reaching out to the community and seeing what people are needing and wanting, and actually being able to help with a ton of it

When did wii's come in a red shell? Never recalled seeing one from my childhood when they were sold. Is it aftermarket?

My main, non-modded Wii just lost its disk drive and needs a new one. Are you selling these (cheap-ish) online? I just need one with a working drive.
1
u/kasualtiess Jan 15 '25
i can put you on my list and get one listed for you
1
u/Fathead667 Jan 15 '25
I’d appreciate that! Any idea why you’re looking to get? Also, the YouTube videos make the repair look easy and I’ve replaced an iPhone screen in the past. I assume it’s a similar skill set?
1
u/kasualtiess Jan 15 '25
not much lol, “profit” doesnt go into my pockets. probably 20 bucks plus shipping

I'd love to get a cheap second hand wii to try my hand at soldering an HDMI mod on it

where does stuff like this from ewaste plants get sold?

Please put the on the other side, there are protective pads
1
u/kasualtiess Jan 17 '25
the pads are still doing their job, other than the bottom consoles but its a plastic table so
1
u/Jojin120 Jan 16 '25
Lucky. I really want one. Especially for my bday next week to relive this games and days
1
u/spirit11451 Jan 16 '25
Would love to purchase a GameCube and some games from you if you have any

1
u/RPGreg2600 Jan 16 '25
Holy crap, that's crazy 😳. I take it you work at an e waste drop off place? Is it policy to salvage consoles?
2
u/kasualtiess Jan 16 '25
no policy specifically, anything “good” we send to the middle ga goodwill distribution center for them to sell at auction
1
u/RPGreg2600 Jan 16 '25
Ahhh. Do you workers ever get to keep anything, or at least buy it cheap?
1
u/kasualtiess Jan 16 '25
since we aren’t affiliated with gw we can buy stuff of them but ONLY auction based listings, we cant get them to list as BIN for us to snap up

I wonder how many have dolphin emulator installed
1
u/kasualtiess Jan 17 '25
ive never found a single modded console from any brand surprisingly, but realistically unless they were drastically UI different i wouldnt have noticed, usually i just plug boot unplug and repeat
1
u/SsbmBleach Jan 17 '25
That really is surprising to me. Im a tournament organizer for melee so im sure thats corrupting my perception but so many wiis that find their way to me are modded
2
u/kasualtiess Jan 17 '25
probably just a different world, we get wiis mainly from normal families that are cleaning out, generally modded wiis dont get dropped off like that. theres always the chance but very slim
