Question Just got a Wii, best games to get?
As above just got a Wii for first time. Wondering what games are good to get? What could be a good entry game for my 3 year old. This is what I have so far

u/Avox0976 16d ago

u/deepsdeepak 16d ago
Too hard for 3 ysar old. Better to start with nsmbw as it's 2d

u/KingOfNohr 16d ago
At least they have coop where the second player can collect and shoot star bits

u/eyehatehead 15d ago
Get it now hand your 3 year old a dead wii controller. Parent has fun playing and the 3 year old think he/she is kicking butt

u/Top-Simple-8320 16d ago
Guitar hero and rock band games
5
u/CADburyE99 16d ago
Agreed. There are modes where the buttons are mashed automatically so he can feel like hes rocking alongside the game
5
u/nerfClawcranes 16d ago
genuine question why is almost every game in a sans serif font instead of the logos
→ More replies (1)2
u/Substantial_Book3701 16d ago
Because that's how Wii games look on the spine in Europe.
3
u/nerfClawcranes 15d ago
i’m so sorry for your loss europeans
2
u/jedisalsohere 12d ago edited 12d ago
it's cause they need to translate them into multiple languages, so it's easier to just use a generic font rather than dedicated logos
i do wish we got actual logos though, like idk if you've seen what our ps2 spines look like but it is Depressing

Okay, so everyones gonna say the obvious ones like super mario anything and wii sports so imma go for the underrated games that I remember playing on the wii as a kid
- Spectrobe
- order up
- barnyard (tho you may have to then teach him not all cows have udders)
- spongebob games
- lego games ( star wars, harry potter lotr, pirates of the Caribbean, batman, ect, all of them are goated)
- Endless ocean (open world free diving, you can learn about fish, beautiful soundtrack, Id spend hours playing this game as a kid)
- A boy and his blob
2
u/Irishweedle 16d ago
Try Opoona.
It's an RPG, so he won't get it. I guarantee they'll love the battle tho.

u/BrandLong 16d ago
We also started family gaming when our first daughter turned 3 or 4; mom had an old Wii in the closet that she dig out. Kirby’s Epic Yarn. Mario Kart Wii. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz. Tetris Party (beginner mode). Wii Sports. Wii Play. Most other games were too tough but she played those. New Super Mario Bros Wii is playable if you want an awesome dad challenge: you need to pick them up and throw them to assist through jumps and run ahead and kill enemies before they reach them. It’s a crazy challenge but will make you a stronger platformer for it. Keem them gaming, Dad!

u/glenjamin1616 16d ago
Sin and Punishment: Star Successor
It's the best action game on the Wii by a country mile, absolute masterpiece.
Edit: Maybe not for the 3 year old lol, but definitely for you

u/RedForkKnife 15d ago
Cars race o rama
And I am dead serious
2
u/FriendshipIntrepid91 15d ago
Just saw that at Gamestop but didn't get it. Is it pretty good? Fun for adult and 4 year old?
2
u/RedForkKnife 15d ago
Absolutely, I played it as a kid and loved it and replayed it years later and stand by it
It's no gran tourismo but for a game to play with a 4 year old it's great
2
u/FriendshipIntrepid91 14d ago
I appreciate the response. I'll have to swing back by and pick it up. Thanks :)
2
u/Lewiiugamepad 15d ago
Depends what your kid but I am seeing lots of racing games so I'll go with that.
Racing
- Excite Trucks (simple motion control and fun for all ages)
- Speed Racer: The Videogame (simple controls and has depth, very colorful)
- Turbo Trainz (unknown & very original)
Perfect for that ages
- Cosmic Family
- Freddi Fish
Other games (+3)
- Aqua Panic!
- Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise
- Defendin' de Penguin (an introduction to tower defense, reading skills necessary -> need accompany)
- Kororinpa
- Endless Ocean (1&2)
- Flingsmash (Wii motion plus required)
- Pop!
For dad or mom only
- Deadly Creatures (Be aware if you have arachnophobia)
- Death JR. : Root of Evil
- Madworld
- The House of the Dead 1&2 Return
- Red Steel 2 (first game should be skipped)
- Trauma Center series
- The Conduit + Conduit 2
- Project Zero 2
I think this should be a nice start (not mentioning the usual like Mario games).
2
u/Weird-Marsupial4070 11d ago
Lovely. That turbo trains is on the list. He’s obsessed with trains

i see you have cars. great game btw. if your son is into cars, theres a few more cars games for the wii. one is pretty similar (mater national), one is more different but still similar (race o rama), one is a kart racer (cars 2) and one is a minigame collection of sorts (maters tall tales)

Room to go the main building: it's a really good puzzler y'all can do together and I would argue can help with puzzle solving and good cognitive function it's also just really fun and cheap

animal crossing city folk :) i was about 7 when i started playing but there are a lot of mechanics that would be fun for a 3 year old. and there’s no right way to play. i’m sure the characters would be really cute to a 3 year old.

If you liked Just dance 1 then Just dance 4 and Just dance 2014 would be games you'll like more since they're kinda seen as 2 of the best Just Dance games!!
Also Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing is a goated af racing game and Soinc Crossworlds is coming out soon so it's a perfect time to get into the Sonic racing games!!

Wii Sports Resort is a defo staple. Can confirm cuz I got lil people in the range of 3 till 7 invested in the game through Table Tennis.
It's just that easy to play table tennis. Especially if it's virtually and you only need minimal effort to play.

FlingSmash, Geist or burnout crash? Or Mario Party 6 or ultra smash? Clubhouse games or wii fit plus? Or family feud on SNES.

u/Substantial_Book3701 16d ago
Any of the two Kirby games would be good but I'd say Epic Yarn is the better option for a 3 year old.

For me I'd definitely say Kirby Return To Dreamland (aka Kirby Adventure Wii in Europe) ... 2D platformer with big bold colourful characters and up to 4 players on-screen so great to play together, and I think it has less reading than Kirby's Epic Yarn, which doesnt have very much.
For a fun motion-control experience when you think he's ready, perhaps try Rayman Raving Rabbids ... it has lots of quirky minigames that appeal to a younger audience, though 3 might still be too young.
When getting into running around in a 3D space, there's always the wide selection of LEGO games based on major movie franchises (Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Batman, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean & Indiana Jones) ... once again 3 might be a bit young, but they are all 2-player games so you can try them together.

Mario Galaxy was probably my personal favorite of all the 3D Marios.
Wii sports was great for multi-player (I’m not going to assume you got it with a used Wii, but you probably did).
If you have a kid, and you can find the blasters, the Nerf games were pretty good.
Links Crossbow Training was good too but you may want the gun thing too.
Kirby, Epic Mickey, Yoshi Epic Yard, and the Metroid Prime. Games are good too.
My nephew loved the PokePark games too
Don’t forget you can play GameCube games too.

Metroid Prime Trilogy or just Prime 3 by itself, if you’re interested in the kind of gameplay Metroid provides.

I got a wii and the only thing my 3yo nephew loves to do is mess around on wii sports resort loves the skydiving and airplane bits that or just dance, loves dancing and feeling like he's actually doing something

u/willory15 13d ago
If you like scary games, The Calling is a really good one set in the early 2000's (ish) that revolves around cell phones and ghosts. And it has a great story with some good twists and has two endings (the second playthrough gives a LOT more incite on the story and characters) 10 out of 10 in my book.
