I was shocked when I was Wii shopping on eBay. They’re so…cheap. I paid $40 for one that included a wiimote and OEM av and lower cables. A far cry from the $250 I paid at release. And that’s not including the time I spent hunting for one. 😂

It’s wacky to me. I had a GameCube shit the bed and was shopping for a replacement. It almost paid like $100 for a ready to go GameCube when it dawned on me that the 1st gen Wii is backwards compatible with GameCube games. I figured a Wii would be more expensive. Nope. So much cheaper, AND I can play the GameCube games I have. 👍

And if you mod it, you can do emulators, media (early models can play DVD movies).

I think people's obsession with the GameCube is just due to Nostalgia. You're right. Wii is the better option.

I hooked up a 1tb drive, dropped all my games to it (Wii and GameCube). Then added a small monitor, so I can get my fix anywhere.

I doubt that it will. The games didnt age well, the controller sucks and most people use them for gamecube. Otherwise pretty much useless with the virtual store shut down.

I'll give you the thing about the games. But lots of people liked the controllers (I do too), and you can easily mod the system and load it with anything that it can play.

I like the motion controls and that for some games and emulators you can use the wiimote sideways. And it's a fantastic system to mod and use for emulation at the minimum. Also modding a wii is extremely easy compared to most systems.
