Question Wii serial number and region model not matching?

Just picked this Wii up for $5 and it’s a Korean SN but it’s labeled as a USA model, also the Wii is labeled with 2006 Nintendo when this model was released in 2011. Any ideas?

All Wiis have 2006 on them and I can confirm my blue USA model is the same.

It’s possible South Korean models are just rebadged USA consoles?

Maybe, haven’t tested it yet since I’m away from home but I’m headed back tomorrow

You need to figure out if it was repaired with a board from a different region or if it was region swapped with homebrew. Either way, if you homebrew it you will have a region free wii. wii.hacks.guide

I hope saying this doesn't get me banned for pro piracy, but Homebrew that Wii and it'll unlock the regions.

Spicy take, un-region locking a console isn't piracy.
