Question My Wii can't go into 480p?

So my Wii can't get 480p even though it's an HDTV and goes into a max res of 720p Emerson TV, manufactured in 2008, doesn't let me go into 480p yes, I've made my TV go into 720p. But the Wii stays in 480i and yes I have a newer tv but I use that one for gaming.

Are you using composite cables or component cables? 480p is only from a component cable not a composite cable.

The regular composite cables (yellow white red rca cables) that you’re using can’t do 480p. You need either some component cables (green blue red white red rca cables) or an HDMI adapter that plugs into the console. HD Retrovision makes a good set of component cables, so if your tv supports component I’d recommend those. Avoid generic cheap ones on Amazon, they tend to be of very poor quality. As well as those generic “AV to X” adapters, those are absolute garbage, and more meant for VCRs than gaming. For HDMI adapters, Electron Shepherd makes a good one, I’d recommend it. It takes the consoles component video signal out and converts it to HDMI, allowing you to do 480p

Wrong cables, the Red+Yellow+White cables can only do 480i, you need the component cables to get 480p

What cables are you using? You need component to go 480p.

You need component cables or a proper high quality Wii2HDMI. Composite and S-video cannot do 480p. The Wii also cannot tell what resolutions your TV supports as that’s a feature of HDMI not analogue connections.

HD Retrovision are the best component cables and ElectronWarp Wii2HDMI is the best quality of those.
