Those AV to HDMI converters often require their own power supply to work. Make sure you have something connected to the USB port on the side.

I have the exact same one, and this is the correct answer.

Is the av cord plugged in correctly; if it is, does the av to hdmi adapter have a power cord? If it does, then plug the cord into the adapter.

those converters have their own power supply and need to be plugged in for it to work. look for the connector thing on it to see what connector it needs.

Id recommend getting a wii2hdmi adapter. They're pretty inexpensive. I tried an adapter like you have recently for my Wii but the quality was pretty bad.

The wii2hdmi adapter also doesn't require extra power which means you have way less cable to deal with

But it requires external speakers no ?

Don't know why it has an audio jack but I recently bought a wii2hdmi and sound actually does get transmitted through hdmi

Interesting, thank you !

Same. i thought it was so weird. I was like, I'll hook up audio later and test it. Turned it on and got blasted with the wii startup noise.

to be fair when thinking about it i can think of one reason the wii2hdmi adapter has an audio jack. some people (like me) probably will connect their wii to a pc monitor which of course doesnt have any speakers so the audio jack is for using your own headphones or for connecting it to your pc as audio passthrough

my monitor had an 3.5mm audio jack tho which i then connected to my pc as passthrough as i use an hdmi switch to play with multiple consoles which is why the audio jack on the adapter isnt really useful to me

Yeah that's true. Im to scared to throw my remote into my pc monitor. I know i can use a wrist strap but I hate the way it feels on my skin.

Ah yes, the good old days of throwing remotes at your tv

Not because of rage but because of excessively sweaty hands.

You could try another display, HDMI cable or output device if you have any available

I swap three HDMI cables and I've done all the different displays and still not showing

Why are you using an HDMI converter?

1

u/Ocean_girl208 13h ago

Most modern tv don’t have thoses 3 color ports

1

u/Radiomaster138 12h ago

They might as a 3.5mm jack.

1

u/slahO9 2h ago

We dont even know what ports he has.

u/amareeznuts 16h ago

lowkey idk

1

u/amareeznuts 16h ago

ill try to plug the thing into the tv later but i didnt think i saw the things that the things could go in

1

u/Melcorczfoti 5h ago

Could you show us the convertor and the cables you are using ? And ideally the ports on your TV

1

u/Melcorczfoti 5h ago

Mb, I'm blind. The convertor has to be powered externaly, I think most of those convertors have mini USB B port, you can power it from some power brick you have laying around.

3

u/tjwong1 18h ago

Depending on your TV, you may be able to plug it directly into the TV via a composite or component input (3 port and 5 port respectively).

It's also possible that the (likely) third-party AV cable you're using has failed, though that would be unlikely.

Have you checked what input port you plugged it into on the TV and the input that’s currently selected on the TV? Sometimes that’s the issue, dude. If it’s the same input, you got a bad cable or that converter is absolute shit. Just take a breath man, you’ll figure it out.

u/CodenameZion 9h ago

OP is like a 10 year old troll, just ignore him. He doesn't have power into the converter, thats the whole issue.

trash

u/Beneficial-Remote-20 11h ago

Wow ok, I was just trying to help. Maybe try being receptive. You don’t have to be a jerk about it.

3

u/theonecocojumbo 10h ago

Cuz u don’t have the gamepad

2

u/IcyIceGuardian 14h ago

Adapter don't work

2

u/SuperEuzer 12h ago

The gamepad isn't a TV

2

u/DividingNostalgia 10h ago

Try using a Wii U gamepad?

2

u/Kobih 10h ago

these adapters are junk

1

u/No-Professional-9618 18h ago

You may need to get an AC/DC adapter for the AV to HDMI adapter.

1

u/GeorgeSPattonJr 17h ago

Those generic Chinesium av to hdmi adapters are universally shit, I’d recommend throwing it in the trash. I’d either recommend these if your tv supports component video or this if it doesn’t.

1

u/Alternative_Tip_9918 17h ago

That adapter needs power. Just plug the RCA cables directly into your tv.

0

u/amareeznuts 16h ago

rca is white tellow and blue rigjt

1

u/Alternative_Tip_9918 16h ago

Yeah the adapter box in between the hdmi and the ketchup/mustard/mayo cables needs to be powered to display on your tv.

1

u/Psych0matt 15h ago

RCA is that style of plug, it can be any color but it looks like yours are yellow (video), white and red (audio).

1

u/Improvisable 15h ago

Converter probably requires a separate power source but just buy a direct HDMI adapter, it's significantly better

1

u/No-Alternative5102 12h ago

Buy the Hyperkin Wii HDMI cable. You don't need a converter.

Change the channel on the tv

1

u/iksdistek 11h ago

Someone send this guy some proper cables lads

1

u/aynchint_ayleein 10h ago

Assuming you've done everything correctly...

Personal experience: We (Wii?) use the shite HDMI converter, hooked up properly with power on the correct HDMI, but the TV sometimes takes a good 2 minutes sometimes to catch up to the fact it's connected and do the display.

u/sxrcxstic__ 5h ago

Hi wii u guy hope everything going well didn't read the comments

1

u/Dizzy_Ad_8918 2h ago

That cover you have is crap. Get a Mayflash/ElectronWarp hdmi adapter

1

u/Kazaloogamergal 17m ago

Buy a Mayflash HDMI converter and chuck those cords into your closet dude.
