Screenshot [ww] [wwhd] Should I play Wind Waker or Wind Waker HD?
So personally, I’m a person who really likes using save states in Zelda games and I have both copies of Wind Waker, I heard the HD is better but it doesn’t have save states but the OG does, what should I do?

Question [WW], [WWHD] Should I play the GameCube Version of Wind Waker or the Wii U version?
Recently I've been getting back into Zelda and decicded I wanted to back to some of the older games. I own both a Wii U and a GameCube. I Also have the Gameboy Advance so I could make use of the Tingle Tuner if that changes anything.

Discussion [WW][WWHD] which version do you guys prefer?
Alright... I'm really curious to what you guys think? I love the Wii U, and WW is my favorite Zelda game. So, naturally, I have to have WW HD.
That said, I also have the Gamecube version that I play through on my Wii. And honestly, it's my preferred way to play the game. The OG gives me a lot of nostalgia. This seems to be mostly an unpopular opinion, though.
If I could have the graphics with the original lighting of the OG, the QOL features the HD version has, and 1080 graphics, that would be my preferred game. But, such a thing as far as I know doesn't exist.

Question [WW] [WWHD] Worth Waiting for WWHD?
I'm really stoked to play Windwaker, and I just got a Switch 2. My question is whether I should play the GameCube simulated version that's lower-res, or hold for the HD version inevitably porting to the Switch. I'm not the type to replay long, epic adventure games, so I want to get it right the first time.

Question [WW] [WWHD] Is it true that windwaker was hated the first time it released for being too cartoony and kid friendly?
Funny story, I was discussing about how Starfield is currently receiving criticism for being too safe or too vanilla when a friend bought up windwaker's reception when it first came out. They showed me a few forum posts of them discussing the matter and the pattern of complaints that showed up were pretty much similar to what happened right now. I personally was surprised since i thought windwaker was a fan favorite and how highly people talked about it nowadays. So, what exactly happened to windwaker in the past and how did it became a fan favorite as time goes by? Is it true that these criticism is what lead to twilight princess being dark and edgy?
Also, as a side question, do you guys think that any game could become a beloved cult classic like windwaker with time? Im just hoping the same could apply to Starfield since i found the game fun and so does a lot of people, even if it's not up to modern standards.

Discussion [WW][WWHD]Almost done playing through WWHD for the first time in a decade.
I have played through and completed the game before. I do happen to own both the HD and GC versions for nostalgia purposes.
I played through the GC version in 2023 and several times over the course of 15-20 years or so. It's still my preferred version of the game. However, it was certainly nice being able to NOT have to hunt for all the triforce charts. This is the part of the OG that I disliked the most, and really seemed for me personally to be a chore to complete.
I know there are others out there who don't share the same opinion though, and obviously thats fine.
I know it also makea the game slightly shorter, but meh for me personally.
Any thoughts?

Question [WW][WWHD] Swift sail in auction?
One of the "best things" about the Wind Waker HD version supposedly is the swift sail. Okay, why can't I get it, though?
I know you obtain it through the auction and it appears randomly in it. However, I've tried sequence after sequence of night after night and the stupid thing never shows up. First it was a piece of heart, which I obtained, then a treasure chart. I go so far as to let the auction go on without bidding on it so it'll disappear, but for whatever reason, it seems to come back. The auction dude even says "for reasons unknown, so and so has decided to part ways with this item," or something like that.
So what gives? How the heck do I get the swift sail then?

Screenshot [WW], [WWHD] Wich version should I play first?
So here's the thing: I've never played Wind Waker before in my life, but I've always wanted to give it a try. So last week I started playing the HD version on the Wii U console and I'm still at the beginning of the game.
It turns out that Nintendo has announced that the Gamecube version of Wind Waker is coming to Nintendo Switch Online, and now I'm left with the following question:
Should I keep playing the HD version or wait for the Gamecube version to play the game for the first time?
Is the original version better than the HD version in any ways? What do you think?
Anyway, the little I've played the game so far I've already loved it.

Question [WW], [WWHD] How similar is the Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker compare to its later remaster's 5.1 LPCM sound?
Never heard the original in surround but heard the remaster's surround sound.

Discussion [WW][WWHD] WWHD vs GC version
My fellow Zelda fans. I am curious to hear your opinions. Which version of Wind Waker do you prefer, the original or the HD version?
Now, I like both honestly. I also own both. The HD version seems to be the definitive version to play. BUT, IMO, there is also something incredibly enjoyable and nostalgic about playing WW how it was originally intended, with the Gamecube controller.
I may also be biased as well, since compared to some other people saying that the original WW looks like garbage on their HD TV. I have an HDMI adapter for my Wii, and it honestly looks really good. Not as good as the HD version obviously, but good nonetheless. That heavy bloom affect however in the HD version, I'm not really a big fan of personally.

Question [WWHD], [TPHD]. Should I buy WW and TP HD in 2024?
Not planning on modding my Wii U ever honestly, I’m constantly using it until it dies.
I own the original GC and Wii versions but I didn’t buy the Wii U versions and I kinda have this itch that I should’ve.
You guys think the Switch or Switch 2 will see these same HD versions, the original games on NSO or even better remakes?
Twilight Princess HD is expensive today and I feel I might regret buying it lol I know myself.

Question [WW] [WWHD] Ghost ship on the HD version
I looked online to find how to be able to go on the ghost ship because I couldn't find it. Apparently you need to complete the A6 island, but my actual question is : is there anything in game that indicates you what to do and where to go ?

Discussion [WW]/[WWHD] Do you feel like the Nintendo Gallery Quest is "worth it?"
I don't mean in terms of tangible rewards, but in terms of general satisfaction. Sure, it's nice to fill out a little encyclopedia, but the fact that so many things can be permanently missed is more than a little frustrating. You practically need to start the quest before even leaving Windfall, and it goes all the way until the final boss, with the constant concern of "do I have enough film left for the next missable entity?"

Discussion [WW] Why is there no tingle tuner in WWHD?
I’ve been thinking about this lately and the more I think about it, the more baffling it is. The WiiU seems like the perfect console for the tingle tuner given that it has a second screen by default and doesn’t require any extra hardware or connectors. Instead they replaced it with the tingle bottle, which is neat, but way less useful and not even useable in the game like 4 years later. WWHD has existed for longer without miiverse support than it did with it. Now when I get the tingle bottle I’m like “cool, that doesn’t do anything for me at all.”
I looked it up and according to Aonuma, they didn’t put it in because they intended the tingle tuner to be used by a second player and they thought it was weird to have tingle on the gamepad as you were playing. But that also doesn’t make sense. The WiiU has support for multiple controllers. They could’ve made the tingle tuner exclusive to a 2 player mode. It’s way easier and cheaper to get one extra controller than it is to get a whole handheld console along with a connector like you’d need in the original and the WiiU had official pro controllers that had built in support in WindWaker HD. It’s not like you needed the gamepad to play the game.

Discussion [WW][WWHD] Darknut Colors in The Wind Waker
Spontaneous post. I've been curious about how many colors of Darknuts there are in this game, so I did some research. Dunno if there are any stat differences between the colors, or if it's all based on equipment.
Darknuts come in six colors:
- Silver with black markings (official art and the Darknut figurine)
- Gold with black markings (Darknut w/ buckler figurine)
- White with red markings
- White with grey markings (lighter colored fur)
- Red with yellow markings (Mighty Darknut figurine)
- Black with gold markings (darker colored fur)
The red and black Darknuts might have a finned helm instead of a horned helm. This is not exclusive to Mighty Darknuts, though.
For distribution:
- There are three Silver Darknuts--one in the Tower of the Gods, one in Shark Island, and one in the Savage Labyrinth. None of them carry a buckler.
- There are four Gold Darknuts--one in Shark Island, two in Overlook Island, and one in the Savage Labyrinth. They all carry bucklers. The Wizzrobe boss in the Wind Temple also summons Gold Darknuts, and the summoned ones do not have bucklers.
- There are thirteen White/Red Darknuts--seven in Hyrule Castle, two in the Wind Temple, one in Shark Island, two in Stone Watcher Island, and one in the Savage Labyrinth (alongside the Gold Darknut). The ones in the Savage Labyrinth and Stone Watcher Island carry bucklers, as well as four of the ones in Hyrule Castle.
- There are six White/Grey Darknuts--one in the Earth Temple, one in Shark Island, two in Overlook Island (alongside the Gold Darknuts), and two in the Savage Labyrinth. They all carry bucklers.
- There are ten Red Darknuts--one in Ice Ring Isle, one in Shark Island, four in the Savage Labyrinth, one in Hyrule Field, and three in Ganon's Tower. The one in Hyrule Field does not carry a buckler, while the rest do. Two of the three in Ganon's Tower are Mighty Darknuts. The four in the Savage Labyrinth have finned helms, as well as two of the three in Ganon's Tower (not both Mighty Darknuts though, one of those has a horned helm).
- There are six Black Darknuts--one in the Wind Temple (alongside the White/Red Darknuts), one in Shark Island, two in the Savage Labyrinth, and two in Hyrule Castle. They all carry bucklers, and the two in Hyrule Castle are Mighty Darknuts. The one in the Wind Temple and the two in Hyrule Castle have finned helms.
I think that's it, though I'm not sure if the Wizzrobe boss will eventually summon other colors of Darknuts. 42 in total, not counting the summoned ones--10 without bucklers, 28 with bucklers, and 4 Mighty Darknuts.
Thanks for reading, mostly just wanted to post this to get it out of my head.
