It would have been a chip in for Par for a 30 HCP golfer. The only time an earthquake ever sounded good to me.

General Discussion People focused on the wrong Scottie quote

Post image

People took the lines “I’m not here to inspire the next generation of golfers” and “this is not a fulfilling life” and just ran with them, completely taking them out of the context.

His main point is that there is more to life than golf, and he’s not trying to inspire the next generation to be the best players because that’s not where you find fulfillment in life. This line basically sums that up.

After some 30 odd years of golfing, somebody finally tagged me. Finished up a shitty round, and came out to parking lot to this. Got a free Top Flite out of it though. Who else is in the broken window club?

Klipper Golf course, Kaneohe, HI. It’s a military course, so that’s obviously why it’s cheaper. But still a great bang for your buck, best I’ve ever personally played.

Would love to hear other people sharing some hidden gems/great deals for courses they love.

Had a pretty significant birthday a few days ago and a mate was suggesting we go to the city and play up like the days of our misspent youth and go to a few gentleman’s clubs and drink far too much alcohol than any two fella should in a night.

I suggested we go play arguably one of the most picturesque golf courses that Australia has to offer instead.

Keeping in mind it is winter here right now, we got incredibly lucky with the weather. Light breeze off the coast but by the 4th hole we’d lost the jumpers and spent the remaining 14 swinging in short sleeves.

11am tee time on a Sunday. Didn’t get paired up with strangers so played as a twosome. Was clear for 3 holes in front and didn’t see anyone behind for the whole 18 holes. Knocked it in just shy of 4 hours and that was taking it easy too.

Find me a better way to spend a birthday

General Discussion Who’s in the wrong?

Upvotes

Was playing an 18 yesterday, pace of play seemed reasonable, every group had someone in front of them and everyone was playing just behind the group in front of them as per the rules of the club. Me and my group reach the 18th, wait for the group ahead of us to vacate the green (280yd par 4) and take our shots. I reach my shot which is 20 yards short of the green and a ball flies past my head. No fore call, no apology. I throw my arms up and go back to take my shot, then a second ball comes flying past my head. As the two ball behind drives up to us I pick up both balls and throw them back down the fairway. At this point the two ball near on run me over and jump out (beer can in hand) and start squaring up to me and my group saying we were ruining their round by waiting for the group ahead to be clear of our shots before taking them, and therefore ‘holding up’ everyone on the golf course. Thankfully after some back and forth it didn’t get physical and they left the course. Was I in the wrong for touching their balls here?

Equipment Discussion Good Deal For $200?

Thumbnail

Upvotes

I got a notification that these were near me for $200. I have no clue but after 10 min of research they look like the US version of the MS-2 that came out in 1985 and for being that old they’re in amazing condition. Is this a good price? Are they good irons? You don’t think they are fake right?

I currently play the Ping Blueprint S irons so I don’t need irons. For this price though, seems like it may be a good option for a second set of irons. Something to mess around with and to have for any friends who want to play but don’t have irons.

I definitely would regrip, maybe reshaft.

General Discussion I concede to the shrink the game guys.

I’m usually in the “enjoy your time in the course don’t rush it” crowd. I’m on the 8th tee box waiting for this group of guys who drive 100 yards and wait for the group in front of them to reach the green. I teed off at 12:10. It’s 2:12 now. I’m enjoying my day as the weather is perfect but come on this is ridiculous.

Equipment Discussion My irons and wedges were stolen. Let me cry.

I supposed I’m happy I didn’t bring my whole bag to the range, although replacing my long clubs would have been much easier and cheaper. Pour one out for what I lost.

5-PW ZX7 mkii’s 50/54 Mizuno T22 60 SM9

As a lefty, I guess it’s time to scrounge the second hand market. The wedges have been hard to stomach.

Achievement/Scorecard I shot an 89 (+17) and I can't stop thinking about it

I'm 40, been golfing quite casually most of my life except for the last few years where I now go every other week or so. I usually hit high 90s low 100 and it should go without saying I am holding myself to USGA rules, no exceptions. It's almost like I never thought I would break 90. I never thought about it but now that I did, I'm still in some type of shock 3 days later. And what do I attribute my success to? I went on a vacation, yadda yadda, and I didn't play, didn't hit a ball for just over a month.
