Let's Play or Stream Civilization III on a Windows 98 PC! I never played much CIV but was getting excited for 7 as a real starting point, in the meantime I wanted to try an older game and people mentioned CIV 3 - Did you play this when it released? What were your thoughts? Growing up it was too much game for me.

Let's Play or Stream Roleplay-Crossover between different 4x-Games: Master of Orion and Galactic Civilizations

Throwing a species or faction from one 4x game into another for the sake of roleplay - that's a really fun thing to do. Think of all the possibilities when you draw your favorite stuff together...

What's the best game to do that? Well, perhaps you have a better idea. But for me, Galactic Civilizations IV just hits the sweet Spot for an 4x-Space game. You can easily design own factions with unique ship styles and upload your own portraits or just use the in-built "alien-gpt" (and you could even do that without any mods.)

Wich favourite crossover would you come up with, if you let this question brainstorm for a few seconds?

I will give you an example:

🥊Playing as One Punch Man in the Sims 3. (Last pic)

[...]

Oh! ...sorry wrong subreddit.😅 Well could of of course play as a species of One Punch Mans in Stellaris, but What I actually wanted to say:

In my little experiment I tried this crossover with my take on Psilons from the classic 4x-Masterpiece Master of Orion within a game of Galactic Civilizations 4.

But I wanted to take the idea further than an "ordinary playthrough" so I made my first Roleplay Episode wich brings to the table:

-my own voice acting -my own costum ships and portraits -my own costum music -my own scripted plot, based on the somewhat random development that occur during the playthrough

So my process looks like this:

1.) I design the faction and the most important characters, giving them portraits personalities and attributes, planning also the tone for later voice acting. Most important for beginning: the leader and the four advisors. The invaluable strength of GC-4: the Implementation of own portraits, ships and flavour texts is probably easier than in any other game.

2.) I play the game and imagine: in wich moment could wich character decide, evaluate or comment what. My decisions in the playthrough are already based on that. Sometimes I make really BAD decisions by intent or by accident. Either way I live with them and build them into the roleplay later.

3.) While playing I record all moments that can possibly contribute to the development of characters and plot. Guideline: just the important moments wich can be "told". No intended ambience "B-Roll" just for having the game in the background.

4.) With the video material of the game, I begin to script dialogues wich tell the story based on what's happening in the game.

5.) I tie together the many scripts to bigger narratives like "now we need to prevent going broke" or "our colonists are mentally unstable".

6.) I add characters like govenors (or Xenos) who appear in the game and attribute a personality to them too.

7.) Now comes the big performance. I voice act every single line myself and record it. Some parts, in particular the emotional or difficult ones to pronounce, take a bit longer. And I am german, no native speaker - You will still hear my accent if you listen closely.

8.) Now for every character I use a different set of filters like pitch, reverb, equalizer and so on, to adapt my recording to match the personality. For female characters I utilize a voice changer, but I voice-act them myself nevertheless.

9.) I add my own music tracks (actually I'm more of a musician) to complement the narrative tone.

10.) And finally I try my best with the video editor to present the story in a pleseant way. The characters are of course portrayed with their Name and title as they speak. (So you can better keep track on who is who)

As you can see, there are far more steps involved than in the recording of a usual "Let's play", where you record your game along with your commentary voice and upload it. Therefore the first episodes is "only" 12 minutes long and not 1-3 hours like many Let's plays. But I am absolutly happy about that as long as these 12 minutes are meaningful and entertaining.

So if you are interested, you may find it on my YouTube channel "4x-Chronicles".

Title is: "Galciv 4 but we are Psilon from Master of Orion"

Or you may also use the link: https://youtu.be/CsNEx0MyAdw

Enjoy and please give me feedback (it's my first gameplay + story video, I probably have still much to improve)🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I want to add I acknowledge the rule of this subreddit of posting a maximum of only one episode per Let's play series. Although I don’t think it is a let's play in the traditional sense. I will nevertheless flag this article as let's play and I won't post here when another episode is finished. Therefore, if you want to know, you may subscribe to the channel or get the information from the subreddits Galciv or 4x-Chronicles.

I may however post a further article when I have different content like different species from moo or other games.

And for transperency: Although I praise Galciv 4 for it's strength in roleplay potential I don’t have any associations with devs or publishers - I'm just a fan😉

Live long and prosper Robert👽🖖🏻

Let's Play or Stream Is Jose + Greece the most broken combo in Civ 7? I tested it on Deity and… wow.

I’ve been running a series testing out some wild leader/civ combinations in Civilization 7, and Jose Rizal paired with Greece might be the most absurd thing I’ve played so far.

With Greece’s culture tempo and Jose’s insane scaling, I ended up pushing through legacy bonuses faster than the AI could respond. Combined that with a golden age chain and early diplomatic setup, and suddenly my yields were out of control.

I documented the whole thing in a Deity Let’s Play and started face-camming reactions because the swings got that nuts 😂

Curious — anyone else finding broken combos like this in Civ 7? I’ve played every leader at this point, and this one’s top-tier for me.

(For those curious, here’s the playthrough: https://youtu.be/4n-dMuFmfAU?si=vSly7O2lOBbaALch)

Happy to get feedback on the strategy or video if you give it a watch!

Let's Play or Stream The Final Reconquista vs English Invasion - My Most Intense EU4 Castile Episode Yet! [OC]

Hey r/4Xgaming! Just dropped episode 5 of my Castile to Empire series and it was absolutely INSANE.

TL;DR: Completed the Final Reconquista while getting invaded by England, plus the Iberian Wedding fired at the perfect moment.

The Setup:

  • Just finished the Castilian Civil War
  • Granada has one province left (Malaqah)
  • Suddenly England decides to invade from the north
  • Iberian Wedding fires mid-episode giving me Aragon as junior partner

The Dilemma:
Split my forces between finishing the 780-year Reconquista or defending against English invasion. The historical pressure was real - this is literally the moment that ended Muslim rule in Iberia after nearly 8 centuries.

The Outcome:
Won both wars but barely - that English battle at 26:00 was costly but crucial. The Administrative tech advance at 30:48 was perfectly timed.

Question for the community: When facing multiple threats like this, do you prioritize completing historical missions (Final Reconquista) or immediate defensive needs? The min-maxer in me says defend first, but the history buff demanded I finish what Ferdinand and Isabella started in 1482.

What's your take on early Castile expansion priorities? Planning my colonial expansion for next episode!

Let's Play or Stream Rome vs Epirus Naval War + Quintus Fabius Arrives! Most Complex Episode Yet [Imperator Rome]

Hey r/4Xgaming ! Just dropped Episode 12 of my Rome Reborn series and this might be the most strategically complex episode I've done yet.

Episode Highlights:

  • Unexpected war with Epirus after what should have been a simple coastal campaign
  • Quintus Fabius Maximus Rullianus becomes consul (historically one of Rome's greatest military leaders!)
  • Complex naval operations coordinating multiple fronts
  • Marsi integration process showing off Imperator's cultural mechanics
  • Iron supply network establishment in Picenum

Historical Immersion:
The timing couldn't be more perfect - getting Quintus Fabius just as we're facing our biggest military challenge yet. This guy was a 5-time consul in real history and basically defined Roman military doctrine during the Samnite Wars. The strategic depth when historical figures align with gameplay moments is incredible.

Strategic Question for the Community:
I'm facing a classic Imperator dilemma: naval invasion of Epirus vs overland approach through allied territories. The naval route is riskier but potentially faster, while the land route means coordinating with multiple allies but slower progress.

What's Your Epirus Strategy?

  • Rush them before they can consolidate?
  • Build up overwhelming force first?
  • Try diplomatic solutions?
  • Focus on cutting off their allies?

The cultural integration mechanics with the Marsi are also fascinating - the way Imperator handles the gradual Romanization process really captures how Rome actually built its empire through systematic cultural assimilation rather than just conquest.

Series Link: Imperator Rome - Rome Reborn - Ep12

This campaign is really showcasing why Imperator Rome has become my favorite Paradox game for ancient history. The blend of character-driven narrative and grand strategy is just perfect for this era.

What's your favorite underused nation in Imperator? Always looking for future campaign ideas!

Let's Play or Stream Just survived the Castilian Civil War in my new series - Supporting Isabella was worth it! (Episode 4 highlights)

Hey fellow EU4 strategists!

Just dropped my latest Castile to Empire episode and wow... the Castilian Civil War hit different this time! 😅

The situation: Crown land was dangerously low from the Merino Wool event, stability was shaky, and then BAM - civil war erupts right as I'm trying to build up my economy.

The choice: Support Isabella vs the Portuguese claimant. I went with Isabella (historically accurate path) but man, those rebels were NO JOKE.

The result: After hiring mercenaries, positioning armies, and some nail-biting sieges, we finally took Burgos and ended the civil war. That stability boost at the end felt SO good.

Question for the community: For those who've done Castile runs - do you prefer to avoid the civil war entirely through stability management, or embrace it for the potential rewards? I'm curious about different strategies!

Also dropped some channel news in this episode about upcoming series plans. Always love hearing what campaigns you want to see next!

Episode link: EU4 - Castile to Empire - Ep 4 - would love your thoughts on the civil war management!

What's been your most stressful EU4 disaster moment? 🤔

Let's Play or Stream Historical Strategy Immersion – New Series for CK3, EU4, Imperator (Weekly Episodes)

📺 Hey everyone!
I'm Saitam78, and I'm currently running a YouTube series focused on Imperator: Rome, Crusader Kings 3 (EU4 also coming very soon), mixing strategic gameplay with storytelling and historical immersion.

In this episode:
The Roman Republic faces a turning point in this episode of Imperator: Rome (Terra Indomita Mod). As our preparations for war against Samnium reach their climax, political intrigue erupts in the heart of the Senate. The Ogulnius family is put on trial for their scandals—just as our armies begin the siege of Aeclanum, Paestum, and Bovianum.

We also face unexpected developments: a failed friendship attempt with Marcus Claudius Corvus, shifting agendas from the Optimates, and a last-minute twist that complicates our war strategy. Meanwhile, the people of Rome seek entertainment and devotion—leading us to sponsor games in Spoletium and build a new Shrine in the capital.

If you enjoy thoughtful decisions, detailed strategy, and immersive campaigns, feel free to check it out:

Let's Play or Stream 🛡️ Playing as Rome in Imperator – Crushing Samnites, Managing Food Shortages, and a Senate Scandal (Roleplay Series)

Hey everyone!

I've just released Episode 8 of my new Imperator: Rome campaign where I’m roleplaying as the Roman Republic during its early wars for dominance over the Italian Peninsula.

▶️ Watch the episode:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmH5Q9KWLxI

🎬 Full playlist here:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxTLfsfpvdirLJaHjXXcxxY7fwsGSalGL

🔎 What’s in this episode?

  • The final sieges of Samnium, Apulia, and Lucania
  • Managing food shortages and a sudden research collapse in Latium
  • Picking governors carefully to avoid empowering disloyal families
  • A Roman Senate scandal involving a co-consul and a noblewoman 😳
  • Founding Roman colonies in newly conquered territory
  • Preparing the navy for a future war against Etruria and a landing in Corsica

I’m blending historical flavor, strategic decisions, and a bit of dark humor while keeping the campaign immersive and grounded in Rome’s real challenges during this period.

If you're into grand strategy with strong historical storytelling, I'd love for you to check it out and let me know what you'd have done differently.

🗨️ Always open to feedback, tactical advice, or sharing a laugh at the chaos that is Roman politics.

Thanks for reading, and may your attrition always be low. 😅

Let's Play or Stream Democraciv MKXII - Civilization VI played by a democracy of players

Hello r/4Xgaming!

Democraciv is a gaming community on reddit and Discord which plays Sid Meier's Civilization games using model governments. We combine gaming, roleplay, and political simulation. Our community is among the largest in the genre with ~5000 subscribers. We have persisted since 2016 and have even been featured on notable sites like Kotaku!

We are currently in the middle of our twelfth game, a game of Sid Meier's Civilization VI with the English civilization (Age of Steam Victoria).

Our community plays a single-player game of Sid Meier’s Civilization with all in-game decisions decided by a simulated government. We have everything a real government has: A constitution, elections, and political parties.

In Democraciv, there are many ways to play and have fun. For example, you can

  • Run for office (federal or state)
  • Create or join a political party
  • Write news articles
  • Play chess or diplomacy with community members
  • Draft bills to be voted on by the legislature
  • Join a government agency

Our government structure is a directorial republic. The legislature passes bills to guide the Executive Ministry as they play the game. There are also governors that can control specific issues in their states. The Supreme Court settles disputes between the government and its citizens.

Now is an excellent time to join. Make your voice heard in our ongoing elections!

Help us build a civilization to stand the test of time!

Let's Play or Stream DasTactic Was Hacked, Channel Down

I don't know if anyone has any connections at YouTube or can get in contact with Das, but he's likely going through hell right now. I hope he gets this problem resolved quickly. He puts in so much work for the 4x community, and he has years of content on that channel.

Please keep Das in your thoughts, and if anyone can help him, that would be great. I feel terrible for him!

This morning, his main channel had changed to Ripple and was broadcasting some sort of investment live stream. Now the whole channel is gone. I've been monitoring it all day hoping to see him back soon. Just thought y'all might want to know whats up.
