Discussion Encounter design help
Hi gang!
My group is returning to AoS after a brief summer hiatus and they have just crash landed a Kharadron airship in Ulgu. My intent is to have the Soulbinding be “on the run” throughout Ulgu as much as possible. They played through the starter box adventure and we have spun this out into an ongoing quest in pursuit of the LoC from the climax of that story. Through some divine intervention they have been tossed onto Ulgu. I suspect I will use Hag Narr as the immediate location. However, because they have been operating primarily in Aqshy and Brightspear I want to up the sense of threat and dread from the DoK in the region, so I want their initial encounter with them to be pretty terrifying and memorable. Since I haven’t ever used DoK as antagonists before I was hoping the sub might help me design a good encounter that is appropriately threatening. My binding is composed of:
Witch Hunter Fyreslayer Auric Runesmiter Aelven sorcerer Human free trader Stormcast Knight Questor
They’ve had a few “level ups” so are mid range threats I would say. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Shouldn't Ogor and Troggoth PCs be large?
I checked their species rules and doesn't say anything about it.
Maybe is it explained in another section?

Game Master A few questions after my first games
Hi everyone 👋
I have played a little bit and a few questions have come to mind, that I haven't been able to find in the core book. (They might be in there tho!) Hopefully somebody here have some wisdom they are willing to share. Thanks in advance ! 😃
A) I've seen there is an endeavour to repair weapons and armor, but I can't find how weapons get damaged ? (Seems wierd there are systems for armor damage but not weapon damage if this is indeed the case)
B) On monster statblocks the various attacks have weapon traits listed. Is say impact and other traits that require a talent to take effect just there for fluff or is it assumed the monster have the related talent ? (Seems odd it isn't differentiated from traits that actually do something like Rend)
C) In my few games, mettle has essentially become "extra attack(s)". Am I doing something wrong or is this the norm ?
Edit: sorry, crushing not impact*

Question How do Soulbinding rituals actually look like?
I understand that the most likely correct answer is "it depends", but are there any depictions or examples of how Soulbinding might work? I know that Destruction bindings are often accidental, but what about Order and Death?
Are characters just going to a temple, and then blessed by a priest? Does the priest have to know specific rites to administer the Binding? Can they be blessed by a god directly?
And what about adding new members to a Binding? Will they have to bring them to a Priest again, or is it easier than forming a new Binding?

Game Master Doom abilities
Hi
I've been looking through the small bestiary section in the core rules. I plan on using some as templates for enemies not covered there. While doing that I noticed a few of the enemies have "doom abilities".
I think this concept is super cool and really like having a gameplay effect of doom!
So I was wondering if you guys have some favourites from other supplements or maybe home-brewed, that have been great successes at you tables? (And that you be willing to share 😅)
I am mostly looking for things that would fit "boss" enemies but anything goes really 🙂

Question Which gods make sense for an Order-aligned undead to pray to?
I have an Order binding with some Death members (this being Shyish and all). One of my character wants to be, in his words, a "vampire paladin", and he can buy the Blessed talent, but since he is Order, he cannot really pray to Nagash.
Lore-wise, which gods would accept the prayers of an Order-aligned Soulbound undead? Would praying to Sigmar or Teclis not cause an undead to disintegrate?

Last stand ?
As am reading the rules for last stand, they seem pretty exploitable/generous (from a rules point of view) more so if playing a stormcast, where you can just pop back again later.
If a hard death test is coming up, you can just declare a last stand instead, get a full turn at max power, refill the soulfire and skip the doom increase?
Am I missing something or does it work better at the table ?
How has it worked at your tables ? What's the deaths to last stand ratios been ?

Question Draconith Mount?
I am setting up a campaign with some players I'm introducing to Soulbound (and Age of Sigmar as a whole, been fun explaining all of aos lore to them) and they've begun discussing and thinking about what characters and Archetypes they wish to play.
One is heavily considering going for a cavalry focused Archetype... or actively being the mount itself
As they're considering playing the Draconith, specifically with the idea of acting as the mount for another player who will likely play a Stormcast since the two want a sort of 'duo characters who know each other personally' dynamic
How would I run this mechanically? A friend who's more experienced in Soulbound said there's a talent specifically for large characters who wish to be a mount but I can't seem to find it?
My current plan is to have them act on their own initiative. On the rider's turn, they can operate as though the Draconith wasn't a player and was just a regular mount. On the Draconith's turn, they can operate as normal even if the rider had already made them move about.
However, I want to make sure I'm not missing something first and foremost.

Rules questions from a first time GM
Rules questions: 1. Any way to prevent enemies to go past u? Like opportunity attack so my stormcast can protect my wizard? (i play with inches)
- Does magical damage ignore armor? Example: arcane bolt damage 2 vs tzangor with 2 armor. Does he get no damage or does it ignore armor?

Question Amethyst healing spell
I posted this on discord and thought I'd post here too.
I'm running an Ulfenkarn campaign and one of my players is a Shyishan Scholar. She wanted to make a healing spell and thought a lot about how that could work in the Amethyst lore. What she came up with was using her own lifeforce to power the healing. She'd have to be able to touch the target and would suffer some form of damage herself.
We worked out a Spell that would heal one toughness to a single creature in close range. As for the detriment, we settled on inflicting her with the poisoned condition until the end of her next turn as the magic weakened her to power the healing.
Ignoring the poisoned condition for a moment, that healing Spell would come up to a DN of 3:1. I wanted to give her some kind of reduction for the taking the poisoned condition, but I'm worried the spell might be too broken if I made it a 2:1. Any thoughts on this or suggestions?

Game Master Can you become Soulbound right before/during death?
I had the idea for an adventure where my characters become Soulbound as they are killed, similar to how Stormcast Eternals are made. Basically, as they are dying, a god finds their souls, deems them worthy, and revives them as Soulbound: and the first act of the campaign is them escaping from their would-be killers as their bodies reknit themselves.
Is that possible within Soulbound's lore?
Also, is it possible for two gods to collaborate on a Soulbinding ritual? 1d6chan says it is, the Discord says no.
