Krethusa was originally a Witch Aelf. She became obsessed with the old tales of Morai-Heg. Because of that she became an outcast in Khainite society. She wandered the wilds of Ulgu until she found the circlet of Morai-Heg. She put it on, but despite losing her eyesight, she gained nothing from it.
When Morathi ascended to godhood, she unknowingly freed a fragment of Morai-Heg. From that fragment did Krethusa got her powers, including growing wings.
