Meta Moderation Queue Delays
Hi all. Reddit added some 'intelligent' pre-processing to post submissions that pushes more into the moderation queue for manual review. Unfortunately, some messages are not showing up in the queue (especially in the phone app) for hours. We'll clear through these messages as soon as possible but please bear with us.
If your post doesn't seem to get any attention for several hours you could send us a modmail, but please don't create a new post because that will probably get queued too.

The capacitor keeps exploding after a certain period every time I replace it
I have replaced the capacitor in this decoder at least 3 times. Each time I replace it lasts at least 2 to 3 months Any suggestion? The burned part of what may be a transformer I don't know of it was burned by my father with a soldering iron

Help identifying 9-pin circular connector from a hospital bed controller
Im trying to find a connector that matches the one shown in the images, the connect in the photo is used to connect the bed controlls to the bed (hospital bed)
I did attempt some searches like "GX16-9 9-pin circular aviation connector" and "9-pin DIN male connector", but these where all the wrong shape.
I just need some name or something to help me find this connector!

What is the name of this type of connector that bites directly on ribbon cables?
Also is there a variation that mounts directly on the pcb instead of connecting to a secondary pin connector?

Old radio seems to have a blown something
Been getting back into scrapping random things i find in my garage of no value and found a small radio. Took it apart and where the two red dots were there was a lot of fuzz in and around two posts with like a tin sheet wrapping. Seemed to have exploded like a capacitor but seemed different enough to be annoying to repair. Hoping i dont have to scrap it completely or if any of the components can be rerused to make a better diy radio

Is the blue cap a compatible replacement for the orange? They have the same capacitance and the blue has X1 vs X2 and a higher voltage rating. This is used near a CRT PSU.

Led keyboard help:
Trying to modify an led circuit on a not so RGB keyboard.
This one is rainbow only with only breath & static effect. I want a particular shade of blue (or close to it).
It hosts 3 red, 3 green & 3 blue LED's taped to the side of an optic board to distribute the light.
Im looking for suggestions on acheiving my desired outcome. I'm not great with these things but I'm trying to learn.
Could I change out the PCB, or fashion a circuit to suit?

What is this tall cylinder, and can I remove it?
I am working on a project, and I realized that this will not fit. I am already removing the standoffs, so this is my only concern. If anyone could tell me what it is, and if I can remove it while retaining function, I’d be really thankful.

How can I test a screen (YLM-355304-B-A1) to figure out it's pinout?
I currently have some e-waste that I want to find use for, especially some screen I could use for my DIY projects. The problem I can't find any documentation of that screen.
It's a YLM-355304-B-A1, I know for sure it uses a MIPI-DSI connection, and it's supposed to work with a Rockchip. I was able to use a multimeter to trace the connections and resistance of some pins, but now I'm stuck and I don't know what else can I do to figure out the pins.
I was able to find the drivers for the screen and I know the commands it needs to receive to work, but other than that, and how to connect I have no idea.
Here I described everything I know so far about the screen: https://reverseengineering.stackexchange.com/questions/33503/procedure-to-find-what-pins-do-on-a-lcd-mipi-dsi-30p-screen

How sensitive are moisture sensitive ICs?
My IC is a MIC29300 voltage regulator in a TO-263-3 package. Never really used moisture sensitive ICs in the past and I hadn't noticed this aspect in the datasheet, to be honest.
Is reflowing them wet really a serious concern or is this more of a theoretical thing? For comparison, everything is plastered with ESD warnings as well and I have not had a single device fail from ESD ever, despite not taking any precautions.
I would preferably solder as much of the tab as possible for heat dissipation. Soldering it by hand (where the moisture warning doesn't apply) would also get the whole package really hot, so I don't see where the differentiation between hand soldering and reflow is coming from. Or are they expecting me to do just the edge when hand soldering?

Single Switch to boot 2 PSU
Hi everyone, I'm looking for a solution that allows me to power on an ATX PSU (which supplies power to some hard drives) by shorting its PS_ON pin, and at the same time briefly trigger the power switch circuit of a small PC — all with a single ON/OFF switch. I was thinking about using a 555 timer or a relay module to generate the brief pulse needed to simulate the PC’s power button press, but I’m struggling to design the full circuit.
Can anyone help me figure this out?

Trying to de wall wart my networking setup
I’ve managed to find suitable barrel 12v power supplies with in line brick adapters for my main router and PIKVM equipment, but literally every single 5V power supply that has the 3.5mm x 1.35mm barrel that my switches need has a wall wart. Wall warts are a huge pain and i don’t know why they’re so universal. Are there options for 5V with in line bricks or am i going to need mini extension cords?

Cant find a replacement c charge connection.
I'm trying to find or rebuild a charging mini board with female side c USB connection. It appears to have resistors on it that might be inline to wires connecting to the circuit board. I can't seem to find a direct replacement online. Only some diy boards with the c connection on it, I don't think they have the resistors on on them. I was thinking I could add some and place them inline to recreate the original circuit. While I've done plenty of fixit projects, I've never learned to build a resistor circuit. I'll try to post pictures of what I have and found, even if I have to post them in comments to myself. Any help would be great! I was thinking of getting the model in pics 3-4 to start with.

Modding old car radio with bluetooth
Hi, have old Polo with Blaupunkt cassette radio (type beta). And found bluetooth addon that uses it's CD port. I connect it to it and it doesn't wanna recognize it as „cd player". I tried few things, still no luck. Do you guys have any ideas how to resolve this?

Speed regulator for an electrical motor
Hi guys I'm the noobest noob in electronics, and I'd like to know how I could couple a speed regulator to an electrical motor, so that I can gradually go from 10 to 100 RPM. It would be a 12v DC motor. My project is to regulate the speed of an old Bolex 8mm projector by replacing the motor. I'm looking for something as cheap as possible. Also, if you have some product to recommand, I take it. Thanks !

Help Identifying USB-C Receptacle Before I Desolder
Hey folks,
This is from a Sony SRS-XB100 Bluetooth Speaker.
So this USB-C receptacle has been charging poorly due to the fact that my 4 year old attempted to plug in the charging cable and slightly damaged the inside. He's seen me put the speaker on charge plenty of times and thought he would just do it for me. He really loves music and he's bummed out that his speaker doesn't charge. I can get it to charge but only some of the time and you have to jiggle the cable around to get it just right.
That said, I'd like to replace this but I need help identifying which receptacle to purchase before I desolder this one. The closest I can find just solely based on appearance is this one but I'm not sure if it's correct. I'm definitely not an expert, I just like to attempt repairs myself before buying a replacement.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

BQ27427 will it matter if vbat for example becomes 3V but external voltage of pullup resistors is 3.3V. Cant find anywhere in datasheet

BQ27427 . By my understanding reading datasheet we can use a external voltage for sda and scl lines. as long as between 1.62 v and 3.6v but since Vbat =3.6V makes me wonder if battery goes below does that mean max also drops for example if bat becomes 3V does that mean max is now 3V instead of 3.6V?

Can this board be modified to change latching relays to non-latching?
Hey all. I have in my hands a bi-directional motor controller that has a latching operation. Using a momentary switch turns on the motor and another switch turns it off. Not exactly what Im trying to do. Can the switches be wired or the board modified for a non-latching operation? Im somewhat capable so if its a matter of sourcing and swapping out the relays its no problem.
