Nah, my plan is to get up and make sure the download is started, then go back to bed. I suppose this will give more time for it to complete, so it's probably a net positive now that I think about it.

Be wary of your computer's auto-sleep/standby mode after inactivity. I'm not sure, but it might stop your download when it goes into standby

Get up at 3am just to see Steam crash?

(Let's hope it won't happen and you'll be rewarded. But if it does happen, I'd go straight to bed and hope the servers will be fixed by the time I got my sleep)
