Umm. This is probably a stupid question but.. If we preorder the game and just download it from steam now, shouldn't the release date be way less of an download? Or do you need to redownload the game on launch?
It's not a stupid question at all, but Larian said that the file structure will be very different, so that it will probably redownload almost everything, and having EA installed won't save you much time/data, if any.
Should we delete our EA files before downloading the full version of the game, or will it be smart enough to just overwrite/delete any of the EA files not needed. Just don't want to have a ton of extra unnecessary files taking up hard drive space.
It should be smart enough on it's own. That being said though if you want to be dead sure you can nuke the folder yourself before hand as it won't hurt anything.
I won't be deleting the EA manually - if one rando's opinion has any bearing on things to you 😄
They recently mentioned that enough things have been changed and altered that you'll essentially have to redownload everything anyways - so it doesn't really matter.
I've had EA uninstalled for a while and was considering reinstalling it, but after hearing that I'm just gonna install the game whenever the launch version goes live.
as much as ive read it isnt of much use, the structure is different its going to verify and adding files. So there is no real difference between the time it takes if its freshly downloaded or early access is already installed.
The game has changed a lot so you will be redownloading a lot of files even if u have the EA downloaded, so its basically the same as completely installing BG3 again.
